Why I Want To Become A Children's Nurse

Becoming a Children’s Nurse will mean that I will be put to the test to provide the best care available whilst working in a fast paced environment. Although working as a Children’s Nurse can be demanding, the outcomes of the care I provide and the smile on the faces at the end of the day are what drive me to achieve this. The job doesn’t just start and finish with trying to fix the problem, but also ensuring that children feel relaxed, safe and cared for no matter what. This is why it’s so important to me to become a Children’s Nurse, so I can join the incredible people who care for the next generation.

Studying Health and Social care in college has made me respect what nurses do and pushed me to pursue the job even more. Regardless of the case you get being a Children’s Nurse you are not just treating and caring for the child but the parents/guardians also. To be a Children’s Nurse you have to be caring, strong, and confident and be able to effectively communicate whilst thinking of what’s best for the child. Through studying psychology I have learnt about ‘Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs’ which can help me to see if a child is being neglected and abused so that I can provide the best care and make them feel safe and secured.
