O*Net Career Exploration There are many jobs around the world to choose from. The three jobs that I choose were a Border Patrol Agent, Dental Hygienist, and an American Navy Nurse. The jobs that I picked either one or two have something in common with each other. For example the American Navy Nurse and a Border Patrol Agent share something in common and so does the Dental Hygiene with the Navy Nurse. All these jobs inter me and it’s hard to choose for only one. The U.S. Border Patrol is one of our nation’s largest border security agencies. They protect the American people from human and drug smuggling, and illegal migration. Nature of the work for a dental hygienist is a wide range of challenges. Dental hygienist plays as the side kick of the dentist to better help their patient’s oral health conditions. The reason I mentioned theirs a wide variety of responsibilities is because different states have certain regulations on practices dental hygienist can actually do. Procedures like patient screening, head and neck inspection, and dental charting. Also, taking X-Rays, and removing plaque from all surfaces of the teeth. The United States Border Patrol is a police force located all over America. Most people think the only job Border Patrol has is chasing down immigrants due to the media coverage on the Mexican border. Although it is a big part of the job it is not the only thing done. The main position for agents is in Mexico, another main location is Canada. Between the two locations 21,000 agents patrol 6,000 miles. (Department of Homeland Security, n.d.) The Border Patrol’s keeps illegal people, drugs, and weapons of mass destruction from entering our country. Another major responsibility is to prevent terrorist from trying to cross the border. In order to prevent this from happening Border Patrol have check points with man power alert at all times. Equipped with the best equipment from the government they stop virtually everything crossing. I along with most of the country feel that this is a very important job in the United States.

Choosing a carrier has been a difficult task. The endless options use to overwhelm me. I feared choosing a carrier in which I was not going to be happy with. This kept me paralyze for many years, unsure and unwilling, to make a decision. Today, I’m working on not letting that fear consume my essence and take the best of me. Something I know for sure, I love working with my hands, it helps me stay calm and relax. I have always been interested in helping other and in working in the health field. Dental hygiene plays an important role in oneś life, from infanthood to elderhood oral health is a visual into healthy bodies. Throughout one’s life annual dentist visits are a need to keep a mouth fresh and disease free. Looking back into my own childhood and the first visit, I was happy to be there. In fact, I found this new adventure in the dentist office better than being in a doctor's. Being a small child and coming into the office for a check up, the first face I saw was a dental hygienist. That meeting later motivated me to do all my studying to become one myself.
