Why I Love Soccer Research Paper

One of the greatest lessons I have learned as a high school athlete has been how to overcome adversity and to be resilient after failure. As with any sport, particularly basketball, many valuable character traits and qualities are obtained such as: an incredible work ethic, a competitive nature, and the ability to be an effective leader. If I had not been a basketball player, I would be lacking some of the important characteristics that make me a well rounded and whole person.

Soccer is the most played sport worldwide, many people love it and I’m one of them, it is my favorite sport because you can improve your skills with your feet, and get a lot of exercise. By writing this essay, I hope that I can provide more information about the sport and maybe convert the people who dislike the sport into fans.

Not much is known about the origin of soccer. However, the Greeks and Romans played football and ball kicking games. The London Football Association developed the first sets of rules in 1863. British sailors and settlers brought the game to India, South America and Europe.

Participating in sports has taught me to be responsible for my own actions. Whenever I fail I move on and keep on trying. Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to a global pastime, including men’s and women’s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four years).

I played sports all throughout my childhood and I have seen the benefits of it as I get older.

Soccer was developed in London famed Newgate Prison in the early 1800’s. Prisoners who had their hand cut off for crimes of theft came up with a sport that used only the feet. The game spread from there. The word “Soccer” originated as a slang abbreviation of the word “association”. Soccer is called “football” in most other countries. Soccer is known worldwide, it is one of the world’s most popular team sports. If you follow these pieces of information you will become a successful soccer player.

Coaches always talk about how, “Sports do not make character, they reveal it”. By knowing this I know that the way I overcome difficulties on the field, shows how I will deal with the ups and downs in life. Sports also improve team building skills, communication skills, dedication, hard work, consistency, etc. I find if I improve on those I will be a better person on and off the field.

Next, participating in sports lets me be myself and will help me throughout my life. Sports have helped me grow into a better leader and gave me the ability to become a better person. If my teammates are ever down or upset about something, I now have the ability to help them recover from it and get ready for the next play or inning. Also, taking part in sports lets me be myself. Whenever I am on a field or a court, I can always do what I do best and forget about everything else in my life.

Sports taught me the qualities that help reflect in the classroom, in my team, and in the community. These resulted in my success throughout the academic year, in my team, and also in the community as well. I have accomplished a lot and plan to do more in the

My parents instilled in me from a young age that team sports provide the experience of winning and losing which builds character. It requires hard work and dedication, being able to get back up when you lose and creates confidence; all important attributes for being successful at life. Soccer was the first sport to really catch my eye. I started playing at the age of six and fell in love with it. Ever since I was little, I remember every weekend my family and I were at a sports game.

However, some parents may have superimposed themselves on their children that they have forgotten and have gradually taught their young players to forget the "spirit of the game". Kids have lot of pressure on games and practice and making coach proud of you. Handling pressure is a good skill for kids to learn at a younger age.
