In cases of abuse, abortion should be legal because having the child may cause further psychological trauma. If a woman was a victim of rape, having the child may be mentally impossible, knowing the child was conceived via rape. The mother of the child could have complications preventing her from the child or she just could not afford to raise a child. With legal abortion, there would no longer be a debate on what is a suitable abortion. If abortion is only legal for those that are abused, either by rape or incest, the victim would have to prove that was the case. By making abortion legal in all cases, the victim would be allowed to have the abortion and not worry about proving how she was pregnant. Mental abuse is another form of abuse. When a man tells a woman to get rid of the baby or she cannot afford to raise a child, the woman has the right to get an abortion if she fears for her own life. If the mother is physically abused, it can cause major health problems for the mother and the baby. The mother can be brutally beaten and the child can be either still born, meaning the baby is dead when it is born, or it can be born with birth defects. Enduring physical abuse while pregnant can cause several complications leading to an
The reason abortions should be legal is because every woman's’ situation is different. This ties into allowing abortions because a woman could be in a dangerous situation; Dangerous situations include domestic violence and other such environments. A dangerous environment is no place for a child, some example may include Domestic Violence and High Violence-low income neighborhoods. Domestic Violence can have long term effects on children as well living in a high violence- low income neighborhood. A dangerous situation may be a reason a woman can choose to have an abortion .
Legalized abortion gives women a relief because they know that they are the owners of their body and control it and give consent or don’t give consent to an abortion. If a woman becomes raped and unfortunately becomes pregnant, she won’t feel obligated to keep a baby from a stranger or from a psychopath who rapes random women. The raped victim also might not like the idea of carrying a child from which she was raped because she will constantly be reminded that she was raped and once again feel the endless pain. In the article, Humiliation, Degradation, Penetration”, it is mentioned how females who have been raped feel that it is unjust and psychologically unfair to keep the baby from a rape incident (Green 2013). Additionally, incest, the act of
For centuries, a woman’s right to abortion has been argued. Individuals with pro-life and anti-abortion beliefs think abortion is murder. While others feel it to be a women’s moral right, a personal privacy right that has been implied in the United States Constitution. I strongly feel that a woman has the right to an abortion. However, the termination of a pregnancy is not something to be taken lightly, I believe the states should have some sort of regulations in place to ensure the woman’s safety and welfare of the potential child.
Yet, it is your duty to look after your baby. As Kant suggests, if you

As I mentioned in my last paper, people often disagree on moral issues. Strong opinions lead to the formulation of strong arguments whether opposing or advocating for a specific stand. To say, one of the most widely debated moral issues is abortion, which is defined as the termination of a pregnancy followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.
If abortion is legal and a woman is sexually assaulted and becomes pregnant, then she has the choice to either keep the baby and have to be reminded everyday of her life of her assault, or she could end the pain right away. Some women may still choose to keep the baby, but at least she would have the choice to make.
Abortions should not be banned in the United States. For example, if you’re not capable of raising a newborn, then you should be allowed to file for abortion. This shows that women should be allowed to apply for an abortion if wanted because of the difficulty of raising a newborn; there are a lot of requirements for raising a newborn, sometimes the requirements are difficult to meet, maybe you don’t have the money, or a home to raise the newborn. Maybe you don’t have the right amount of money to get the baby what it requires or want; sometimes raising a baby can be as hard as finding a needle in a haystack. In addition, if a rape victim was conceived, then that person should be given an option for abortion because the baby wasn’t noticed or
The topic of abortion in the United States remains one of the most controversial, divisive, and painful subjects in contemporary society. Traditionally, an abortion is defined as removing or expelling the fetus from the womb before it is ready for birth. This may comprise spontaneous abortion, which is often referred to as a miscarriage or induced abortion, in which someone – the woman herself, a layperson, or a doctor – purposefully causes the abortion. The term is commonly used to refer to the induced abortion, and this is the abortion, which has been filled with controversy. In the developed nations, induced abortion is known to be one of the safest procedures in medicine if it is conducted under the local law (Raymond 2014). Thus, abortions are arguably the most common medical procedures performed in the United States annually. According to studies released by the Guttmacher Institute, there were about 1.06 million abortions performed in this country in 2011. Research by the same group also shows that approximately half of all pregnancies were unintended, with four out of
The termination of a pregnancy has remained a topic of debate throughout the country for the last few decades. All women must have the access to abortion in order to reach their full potential of freedom and equality and to avoid other medical conflicts. The conception of a child is not always planned and may have occurred from rape or incest in some cases. In that situation the women would want to abort the child because it is a product of a traumatizing experience and can create psychological torment on the mother. In some cases women are not fit for motherhood. They may be too young and not educated which will lead to limited job opportunities, and having a child causes disruption to their lives. Many young women, who become sexually active and become pregnant, are not ready for the responsibility of a child. They may still have their education left or in need of a job. In that case, having the responsibility of a child is unrealistic and difficult. If abortion is not legal, that does not mean that the act of terminating a pregnancy will end. In many cases, there have been women and doctors illegally committing abortion procedures. Many women attempt to terminate the pregnancy on their own when not allowed to due to their own reasons. It is very necessary to give women these rights and it is vital for gender equality. By allowing women to have control over their own body, the women can reach their full potential. Society must be reminded constantly that women are human with the right to freedom and the conscience to make informed decisions, and not just a body carrying a fetus. Its must be the woman's choice to decide what to do with her pregnancy.
Abortion is a topic that, throughout American history, has encountered much turbulence in terms of the empirical and moral. There have been both extreme and moderate views supporting the creation or removal of legal restrictions throughout every state in America. There are a few ways that the issue of abortion can be categorized, all relating to how women gained the right to abortion. Legal precedence, human rights, when specifically life begins, religion, and birth control issues all are categorically the primary issues about abortion. In 1970’s America, women gained the right to abortions due to support from American citizens, and this support came from various sources – including the opportunity for empowerment, the public figures and decisions from the Roe v. Wade supreme court case, religion, healthier pregnancies statistics, safety from an unhealthy pregnancy, and safety in case of accidental pregnancy.
One of the worst mistakes in American history occurred in the year 1973. According to Opposing Viewpoints, “An abortion is a medical or surgical procedure that ends a pregnancy” and it was made legal in 1973 (“Abortion”, 2014, para. 1). I grew up always wanting a large family. Some of the best memories of my childhood were ones made during family reunions with my cousins. When I found out that there are people in the world that willingly murder their children before they are even born, I knew that it was something I had to change. I urge you to join me in the realization that abortion should be illegal since it is a form of murder society has accepted that has cost an immeasurable amount lives. Abortion is a horrible practice because it causes moral and ethical dilemmas for all involved, it negatively affects both the child and mother, and there is a multitude of alternate routes available.
Trying to prevent and discounting the abortion law in the United States will not help women. It would make matters worse for women. We have to protect women’s rights. Women have the right to decide their future. Those trying to restrict and illegalize abortions are not considering certain issues that women face. Woman have abortions for many and different reasons. Some of these women have to
What is abortion? According to the Oxford English Dictionary, “Abortion: the premature expulsion of a [foetus] from the womb; an operation to cause this.” Abortion has been a controversial topic for many years. Some people favor adoption and some are against it. “In 2008 an estimated 1.21 million abortions were performed in the Unites States.”(Jones, and Kooistra). Many opinions collaborate in abortions rights or abortion legislation. “In 2008, 84,610 women obtained abortions in Texas, producing a rate of 16.5 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age. Some of these women were from other states, and some Texas residents had abortions in other states, so this rate may not reflect the abortion rate of state residents. The rate decreased
The big reason that women should be able to get abortions is if they get raped and become pregnant. If a female gets raped and becomes pregnant there is a big chance that the women is not going to want to keep the baby. The women is not going to want to keep the baby because the kid is going to remind her of the time she was sexually assaulted. Also if the women were to keep the kid it would most likely cause her to be very emotional and become stressed. Also when the kid becomes older the mom will have a hard time telling the kid that his dad sexually assaulted her.
