Athletes are overpaid by their couches and businesses just for playing in their team’s games and doing commercials. Even after they retire they still make more money than they work for. They are paid millions every year, Shaqeel Oneel made enough money that he could hire builders to make him a full sized basketball court in his basement. Furthermore, Peyton Manning makes about 700 thousand after he retired. Most athletes don’t know how to handle that much money a pro football player bought a Ferrari even though he didn’t know how to drive. Another pro NFL player spent 30 thousand dollars on earrings. This is a problem for many young people and their spending habits why should a professional athlete be any different.
Although athlete’s put in an extraordinary amount of time and effort, they do not deserve to make tens of millions of dollars. These athletes make more money than the men and women that risk their lives to protect our lives. There are children starving all over the world, and these athletes are getting paid millions of dollars to play sports.
NFL players get paid $420,000 a week. They get paid about 135 million dollars in 5 years. You buy your tickets and are looking for the place you get to see. The crowd is roaring inside the big stadium. The smoke is rising as your favorite football team walks out onto the field. Football is a fun sport to watch, but the football players are getting paid too much.
Imagine having so much money that you are not even sure what to do with half of it. This is what happens to athletes that are being paid millions of dollars yearly. Because of this, there is just hundreds of thousands of dollars that are just left either used on unnecessary items or are not even used. Instead, all of that money that was used unnecessarily could have been used to help others like veterans that have disabilities/ was injured while serving their country. It also could have been used to pay other hard-working people in the United States that are not paid that much. There are hard-working people in our country trying to better the society that we live in but are being paid extremely less than professional athletes that use their
Lots of athletes can’t even manage their money without going broke. Like Kenny Anderson who couldn’t afford insurance on his 8 cars. 60% of NBA players go bankrupt after leaving basketball for only 5 years. Also, 78% of NFL players go bankrupt after 2 years
When professional athlete goes into retirement do you know what happens to them? What happens to most athletes is they don’t plan for retirement so 78% of football athletes go broke and the same goes for 60% of basketball players. When these athletes that go into retirement without planning they have to file bankruptcy or take out loans. The reason this happens is because they buy over extravagant houses, shoes, and cars that show most athletes can’t be trusted with all this money in there pockets. That’s why these players should have their paychecks smaller so they can’t buy these things that make them go bankrupt.
Anytime people think of famous athletes, they think of them as role models to follow and superstars with a lot of money. What exactly do all of these athletes do with so much money? Do athletes get paid too much, according to this statement “The top 10 earners rake in a combined $496.9 million, and they sure do know how to treat themselves” (Melia). Professional athletes are making too much money in a society that wages are traditionally on the value of someone’s work. Some might argue that athletes get paid just right for the amount of effort and sacrifice they take every day in order to give the world the entertainment they want.
Athletes are not taking their money for granted. Some athletes give their money to different charities. Take Stephen Curry for example. He has a program called, “Nothing But Net.” This shows that athletes do lots of good with their
When it comes to supporting your family, does athlete come to your mind,or does “I need money?” For my family athletes don’t come to my mind, the fact that we need more money does. There are many Americans who are struggling out there to make it alive each and every day. There are teachers who are teaching the future, the next generation and aren’t getting paid not even half of the money they deserve. People who are playing sports get an average of $2 million to $5million a year, compare that to an average family: $54,000 families have to mettle up every day to make it. Yes,athletes, are overpaid, because there are people who are willing to risk their lives for another person that they don’t know and it’s inane that they still don’t make half
Do athletes really deserve to get paid all this money versus doctors? Many professional athletes get paid millions of dollars. Some people think that these athletes should or shouldn’t get paid all this money. Compare that with the average income for a family, 54,000. Americans who work a full-time job until they’re about 70 years old and still not make that much in a lifetime as athletes. Why do you need 8 cars or houses? Last week many athletes went bankrupt just after 2 years retirement. So much money you think it could last longer. In conclusion athletes
Athletes in the past did not always accumulate the wealth of today’s multimillionaire athletes. Although many hold resentments towards the high salaries professional athletes earn, the industry they work in their raises billions of dollars in revenue. In spite of the hard work and dedication of athletes, only a small percentage of the human population is physically and mentally capable of playing in professional sports leagues. It would be unjust to take money away from the athletes, only to give that money back to the sports executives who depend on their labor.
Some of the wealthiest athletes are those who sit on a bench and don’t even play at all. Like some people say, they feel bad for the people who sit on the bench until they realize how much they make. It is so ridiculous that a one million dollar contract is an insult to people. Mostly everyone who actually helps our society doesn’t get paid even close to one million dollars. If people with jobs like teacher, firefighters, etc. got the salary athletes got, I feel like some people with those jobs would act like athletes do, but most of them would take that money and care for their
Athletes are not overpaid . They should be getting paid a lot of money . From the time they are young athletes generally train many hours for days and years on end to build muscle and gain strength and endurance to play the sport they love . It is with passion that they do what they do . For the most part , athletes can also be pretty good role models for the younger generations . They give kids like me inspiration in how athlete I am . A good reputation itself is worth plenty of money .
