What Would I Like To Be Remembered For?

Throughout our lives, we make choices and decisions that change our lives and others in positive and/or negative ways. It is these decisions that determine how we will be remembered, our legacy. When I graduate high school, I want to be remembered by the qualities that define me as a person and the good I’ve done for others. Throughout the years, I’ve been often been described by my family and friends as bold, confident, outgoing, and hardworking. Not only are these characteristics important to me, but they are important to my family, as they want to leave a legacy in the name of our family. The qualities I have exhibited are the same qualities past family members have shown and are remembered for. Through always putting out my best effort when it comes to work and school, I have shown my dedication and discipline. Through doing what I can to help others, I have displayed my commitment to world peace, the betterment of the world as a whole, and the yearning to make a difference in someone’s life other than my

I was struggling. That much was evident from the pile of papers that surrounded me; unfinished assignments just waiting to be completed. That being the case, there were numerous obstacles I encountered during my earlier years in high school. Between studying for tests, completing homework assignments, and balancing job/after school activities, the only thought on my mind at that time was to challenge stereotypes thrown at me. Being raised in a Mexican household, there were common misconceptions about our race of how we lacked ‘certain abilities’ and I wished to contradict their thoughts. Making my parents proud was the first accomplishment I needed to complete; showing others what I was capable of was an added bonus.

​It is undeniable that memory has always played the main role in almost people’s lives. There is a question exists on how I would like to be remembered when I died. In my opinion, the answer of this question is a good person, I want others to remember me as one of a person who prefer to help other people and don’t exploit or cheat others. I will support my point of view and shall propose my own conclusion.

Legacy, what I want people to remember me by. Many people don't really have an idea about what they want their legacy to be, but I do. This 8th grade year, my last year of middle school, I want to be remembered, by all, or at least close to it. I want to be thought of as the kid that always put forth his best effort at his schoolwork, and the kid that always completed his homework. I want people to remember me as not only the person that had great grades, but also the person that could help other peers when they were confused on school work. I would like to accomplish all of these things, but wanting to have a legacy that consists of many things means you can't just wait for it to come to you, you have to work very hard and try your best. Once you do this, your legacy will be recognized without you even noticing that you left it.

Imagine you’re sitting in a cubicle just typing away, taking phone calls all day. Office, work 8 hours a day, not really that fun and won’t get you remembered for anything. Now picture yourself standing in front of the board of NASA, presenting an idea to them on a mission to Jupiter. You could be labeled as “The Man Who Thought to go to Jupiter.” Which one do you want to be remembered for? Most people would want to be remembered for something outstanding, like being a good father to my kids, setting a good example to my children so they can pass traits down to their kids.

I cannot even begin to explain how honored I am to be mentioned in the same breath with some of the most iconic athletes, like Kobe Bryant and Peyton Manning. This is something that I will treasure for a very long time. I do not have much prepared, however, so I’m going to speak longer than anybody has spoken tonight. That is the way it goes. Time is very important to me. You never know how much of it you have left, and there are some things that I would like to say. Hopefully, by the end of this, I will have said something that will inspire all of you here tonight.

I hope to be remembered as someone who changed the world, now and later in my life. I really don't have to do something very big or spectacular, just a simple task would do. I might not change the world, I just might change someone's world. I will have hoped that I had a good life and am a success in whatever I do.

An artifact that I have to share from my life is the hobby of playing baseball. Baseball is my favorite sport to play, it is played with a bat, a fielding glove, and a baseball which is pitched to the batter to see if the batter can hit the ball within 3 strikes so the person batting won’t strikeout won’t strike out. This is crucial for me because my dad played baseball when he was younger and was really good and that makes me want to strive to get better. Also, this is key to me because my coaches and teammates on my team are the best and it makes me want to get better for them. All in all, baseball is the sport I love and care the most about, so that edges me want to go all out to get better and not let my teammates or coaches down.

4. Legacy: leaving the world with something that can remind people about you, something about you, what you did or what you are known for.

List three events/accomplishments from any time period in your life that meet two criteria: 1) You really enjoyed what you did and 2) you did it really well. Please write a short paragraph for each telling what role you played and why you were fulfilled. (Please exclude: commitment to Christ, marriage, having children, or graduating from college. Although we greatly appreciate the value of those events they may not tell us anything unique about you. Here are several examples: I had a paper route when I was ten  or I owned a chain of grocery stores from ’95-03 or I was a member of volleyball team that finished 2nd in our conference or I was a part of a select choir.)

The legacy I will leave behind is my creativity, which is my art. I will leave a piece of art behind that represents me, my fellow scholars, and the opportunities we were given. I want my art to give people inspiration and motivation, I want to leave a symbol that shows what we stand for what Valor stands for.

How will the world remember me? Now that is an excellent question. As I said before, every decision that you make today can greatly affect your legacy. Even though my future can affect my legacy, so could my actions today, from posting something online, to your behavior towards other people. My

Never did I think in my high school career, I would be able to make an major impact in my school that would continue years after I am gone. Last year, I had the opportunity to participate in a competition called Adcap, sponsored by a German company Systems, Applications, and Products also known as SAP; consisting of schools from all over the state. With hard work and dedication I was honored to get first place and win a thousand dollar grant to improve my high school in any way I desired.

There are valuable experiences in each of our lives which hold a special spot in our memories. Events such as winning a baseball game, or going to prom always remain with us and the recollection of these memories appear to be crystal clear. The most cherishing and rewarding experience that I have ever done would be competing at the national level in speech and debate and it taught me a lot more than just debate.

Something I want to be remembered for in this life is being the type of person who no matter what is always positive in every aspect in life. In this life we are going to have troubles rather it be losing a loved one, family issues and many others that exist. We have to go on with life because we can't just be negative all the time and depressed. I am the person where if I see people down, sad and giving up makes me feel like I did not do my job at all. Even if times are hard and you are ready to give up it should give you the right to just quit. You have to get up even harder to prove them and yourself wrong.
