One of the first webpages I visited from the suggested readings and other resources was the article “What I Wish I Knew About Creativity When I was 20.” This article grabbed my attention because I just turned 20 and I think creativity is very important. Perhaps the most important part of the article that I read was that trying and failing is better than not try at all. I think I’m scared of failing a lot, so I avoid doing what I feel like I will fail. All the other aspects discussed in the article, I believe help me understand creativity in use and creation.
The first thing that comes to our minds when we think of “creativity” is things that have to do with arts. This is not true. Being creativity and having creativity can also be used in many activities or professions such as in businesses, creating a sport team, and in any other things you name it. Robinson has taught this through his book, “Out of Our Minds” but also how writers and artist see the world a little different compared to how others, scientists, mathematicians, historians, and psychologists look at the world. Also how educations and ageing plays a role in our creativity.
Creativity is more about the process rather than the end product and this creative process is useful for many reasons, developing confidence, developing good relationships, finding out what talents and strengths we have and teaches us about
Creativity is all about the 21st century skills and the future students. One form of creativity they will use is brainstorming. It includes elaborating, analyzing refining, and evaluating ideas to improve and maximize creative efforts (Syrett, 2002). Creativity involves originality, and working with peers to come up with ideas. It will allow you to fail and work on what went wrong and recreate it. They will have the tools that are needed to be creative. Creativity is an important aspect for every student to
Creativity is often more about the process rather than the end project, it is useful for many reasons:
There is an invisible key that we all hold, unlocking our gifts and talents. There is no stopping us from using this key that we cannot see. But what if we did not know that we held this key? Creativity can be viewed in the same way, not ever knowing the capacity that is within us, an invisible force that seems to take over us when we are in state of happiness, doing what we love. Creativity activated gives you and I the solutions to big problems.
A smart man said “Creativity is as important as literacy and we should treat it with the same standing.” (Ken Robinson-“Do schools kill creativity?”). There are multiple studies on how creativity helps improve a student’s mind. Project based learning is a huge creative booster for students. A math teacher from California uses projects to do math instead of using the text book. From doing this, she’s had more students pass her class then from when she was teaching straight from the text books. Instead of having standardized tests, using more creative techniques for students to enjoy the learning they’ve done and for them to show the higher officials what the students are learning. Creativity is the process of turning real world problems into an understanding by extending the minds cognitive processes. In Alabama, kindergartners are studying different ways to be creative.
Growing up in a family full of creative minds it wasn’t hard to find my own talent. I became obsessed with art at a young age, drawing anything that caught my fancy whether it be cats, dogs, or power puff girls. I loved to draw. I found that with my drawing I had a natural desire to get better and build upon my talent. In the later years of middle school when the time came that we were deciding our future careers I didn’t want to be an artist. I wanted to just quit my talent and be like the other girls who could sing and dance, I thought my talent useless. But through the years I found that any occupation besides an artist would make me miserable. A life spent on a career one does not have passion for is
If anyone were to trace back to the beginnings of any civilization, creativity would be evidenced through its people 's culture and development . In fact, creativity can be found in the underpinnings of problem solving for survival, like the invention of the wheel and discovery of fire (Gladding, 2008). Even more contemporary advancements in counseling can find it’s roots in seeking to meet needs and solve problems. Because counselors are held in high regard by most of their clients, it is important for today’s counselors to have the background knowledge and current awareness of best practices and contemporary trend in counseling.
Continuous positive airway pressure, or CPAP, appears to improve glycemic control in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and type 2 diabetes that is not well controlled, according to research published in the American Thoracic Society 's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. "Effect of CPAP on glycemic control in patients with obstructive sleep apnea and type 2 diabetes: A randomized clinical trial," is believed to be the first randomized controlled trial of its kind.
In an ever-diversifying global market, creativity has become imperative in empowering innovation within the market. The demand for creativity has increased, especially in the business market sphere and a need for managing creativity is evident. However, the coming together of management and creativity is believed to be “incompatible”, and “mutually destructive” by parties from both arts and management backgrounds (Howkins, 2002, p. 120). If management where a square, creativity would be a circle, and the two are not complementary shapes, thus many would argue managing creativity to be oxymoronic. Because of the different characteristics and methods of creativity and management, this statement seems true surface level. Creativity is an ambiguous term that is subjective and difficult to measure in a definite form and makes it difficult to manage in one specific way. So how can a manager maximize the creativity of an individual and how can one manage creativity most effectively and collectively?
Creativity is in all of us often we failed to see it. We think art, design, and marketing are creative. However, creativity lies in every field that you are curious in. There is no definite space that creativity exists in. Obviously, this idea struck me later. I also thought a creative person was the one who could compose rhyming poems and stories, who could draw beautiful pictures, or who could sing and dance effortlessly and I also wanted these skills, but it was impossible. Later, I found out, I was creative too. I enjoyed the challenges problems in math and science classes. And thinking to solve a problem in various ways is also being a creative. Hence, creativity can be learned in the fields that you are curious in and not from sitting in a lecture, but by learning and applying creative thinking processes.
Creativity may be considered as one of the most important targets that education should aim for. When a teacher aims to stimulate learners’ creativity, this can be fostered in a variety of ways, amongst which there is the strategy of regarding students as active consumers of
As a child, I was very creative. I loved to sing, dance, act, read, and paint. I would jump on the chance to do anything that allowed me to flex my creative muscle, except write. Stories of any kind intrigued me in particular. If I read a book, I would be so completely absorbed into the story line that I felt as if I were part of the story. I liked to repeat these stories to my friends and watch their faces as they lit up in wonder. When I wasn’t telling them a story, I was coming up with an elaborate adventure for us to act out. These acts of creativity and inspiration never seemed to make their way into my school work no matter how hard I tried. I was my most creative when I wasn’t told to be so. As soon as I had a deadline or was told to take my ideas and put them on paper I was utterly lost.
One of the most mysterious traits of human beings, Creativity is difficult to grasp. The common notion is that it belongs few gifted individuals, or the source of exceptional pieces of work. The Dictionary defines it as ‘the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination’, and the word root is ‘creative’, which first appeared in 1670s meaning "having the quality of creating”. In this essay, I define creativity as the “magical” process through which the abstract comes into manifestation in physical form: anything that produces the new (even if not meaningful as per above definition), including changes or transformation to existing lives, spheres, domains or realms, be them desired or undesired, can be considered an act of creativity.
All things created in over the many years is categorised as something that’s useful, valuable, clarity, innovative, novel or…creative. The two philosophers Larry Briskman and Carl Huasman have written up an essay on their belief of what creativity is, there understanding and notion of creativity both include a criteria to match for a product to be creative. If creativity is based on criteria then we can agree that criteria are based on a set of rules to abide with, and then if that’s the case creativity is defined in an objective perspective. Creativity has many views in this case the philosophers have explained in in a non-psychological way. Creativity is more based on a subjective and psychological view which will be explained in detail later on in the essay.
