As a senior at Babson College concentrating in Business Analytics and heavily interested in data-driven decision-making, I am thrilled to apply to West Monroe’s Advanced Analytics Consultant positon. Last year, I had the opportunity to research, collect primary and secondary data, and make business decisions when I participated in Babson’s Management Consulting Field Experience. My team, comprised of five highly motivated Babson undergraduates and a graduate student project leader, was able to create a blueprint for a crowdsourcing platform that would help our client, Clarkston Consulting, with its innovation methodology. In the span of three months, our team identified a target market, determined product features, and designed the platform. Through this project, I strengthened my communication skills as I worked with my team, project leader, and also a high-profile client. Further, my passion research and data analytics was reinforced as I utilized the tools taught in my classes in the real-world project. Along with this experience as a consultant, I am …show more content…
As the President of the club Colleges Against Cancer, I am adamant about our mission statement, which is to save lives from cancer by initiating and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society in college communities. As a leader on campus, I leverage my people-management and organizational skills to execute several community service events, including Relay for Life, trips to Hope Lodge, a cancer treatment facility in Boston, and sporting event fundraisers, in hopes of contributing resources to finding a cure to a horrible disease. My passion of helping others coincides with West Monroe’s people-first value and emphasis on social responsibility. Working at an organization that shares community service values is important for me, and West Monroe has more than shown its commitment to help the greater
I have been able to work in a community educator role associated with two organizations. The first being the Slippery Rock University Women’s Center. At the Women’s Center, I was able to serve my fellow students in a capacity which fostered trust and respect. Additionally, as a staff intern I was able to plan, develop, and execute an event titled, “Love Your Body Fair”. This event’s aim was to reach all students and discuss societal pressures enhanced by media associated with body image. The other organization I was able to work closely with was, RockOUT. ROckOUT is the QuILTBAG student organization of Slippery Rock University; where I was able to serve as Vice-President for two years. While serving in a leadership role, we saw our membership increase four fold, as well as, host some of the largest educational events, to date, on the university’s campus. Some of the events which I was able to create, plan, organize, and execute were: “Tackling Homophobia” (university wide event with Esera Tuaolo, former NFL player, discussing LGBT in professional sports), “Straight Talk” (LGBT student and faculty panelists share coming out stories), “Cake Day” (Asexual awareness), and “Candlelight Vigil” (Dedicated to those members of our community who took their lives but, will not be
The support of the club has given back to all areas of influence including schools, cemeteries, businesses, and programs such as the Warrior Outreach. The club has been involved with many outstanding events such as feeding the homeless; providing gifts for under privileged kids; partnering with local schools to help establish a positive foundation for the youth through interaction; clearing and cleaning overgrown cemeteries with the preservation society; and assisting with the restoration of homes belonging to citizens in the area. One of the most interesting things that the club does that should never go unnoticed is empowering and providing great leaders with an outlet to be able to do these amazing things. Individuals will struggle to find a way to make a difference in the community, but when like minded individuals come together the opportunities seem to present themselves in abundance.
I was working as an intern at a company called Project Management Institute (PMI) for six months and have learned some useful and interesting knowledge about analytics. Taking this class and doing this assignment help me understand more about how productive and effective PMI is to compete on analytics. PMI is the world’s largest not-for-profit membership association for the project management profession. PMI’s worldwide support for project management is supported by globally recognized standards and certification program, extensive academic and marker research programs, chapters and communities of practice, and professional development opportunities.
In the maximization of its impact in the community, McKesson has aligned its signature volunteer programs with the funding area of Company’s foundation. Both of the programs’ main focus is cancer management, specifically giving non-medical direct services to needy cancer patients. The area is of great need, and it is linked closely to the core competencies of the Organization as a healthcare company (McKesson, n.d.). The McKesson Company has community days, which is the symbol of yearly all-employee volunteering event. In the community days, the workers take part in coordinated groups; volunteer their objects at the Company’s website being led by the volunteer

In my role as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Greenspring Associates, a Venture Capital Fund of Funds, from 2010 to 2014, I had the opportunity to implement an innovative process that unlocked a wealth of information through reporting and analytics. This process involved completely revamping the reporting, analytics and data collections procedures in place.

The concept of using data to influence decision-making certainly isn’t new. It’s been adopted, implemented and utilized by each and every one of us. It can be as basic as using visual data to pick the best apple out of the bunch, or as complex as using customer resource management (CRM) data to create a geographic heat map of customers and prospects to better understand where to spend an advertising budget.
Business analytics is helping businesses decide where to invest, increase profit and make the most out of their company based on data that is collected and analyzed. As described in the article, The New World of Business Analytics, “business analytics can be defined as the broad use of data and quantitative analysis for decision-making within organizations” (4). The use of this type of research is developing new insights and understanding of the performance of a business. Through the increase in data analysis, companies are able to make decisions based on the information that they have received and studied. Observing analytics can be thought of as, “thinking differently, asking questions, and never being satisfied with doing things the way they have always been done.” (Analytics, Not Statistics, Driving NHL Evolution) As a field that is requiring more researchers, business analytics is becoming a popular field of study at many universities because of the increased need of employees by companies because of the success rate of business analytics techniques. Analytics is observing statistics and finding the meaning behind those statistics. Companies and students in the business field know the “increased importance of quantitative analysis of data for understanding, prediction and optimization.” (“The New World of Business Analytics”, 2) The collection of data is one of the most important steps in the analytics process because without
Analytics plays a major role in pharmaceutical industry in assessing the growth of sales, revenue, market share and ultimately growth of the company. I worked as a part of product management team in Fresenius-Kabi, a Germany based multinational Pharmaceutical Company. In countries like India, pharmaceutical companies have head to head competition to survive in the market. The company has a structured market analytics and research department rather than depending only upon the data from IMS. As a part of product management team I worked closely with the analytics department to secure data for marketing purposes. This process not only helped project managers in assessing the success of project to be implemented but also helping product managers in introducing a new product into the market and assessing their success rates. The company has a strong business intelligence platform and other analytical aspects. Thus using the data and competing on analytics made company to have a Lion’s market share in the basket of

Innovation technology has become a prerequisite for success in many industries over the last 20 years. This is especially true in the management consulting industry (Thomas, 1978), which continues to differentiate itself from “product-oriented” industries through the implementation of people analytics. One business that has taken the consulting industry by storm is Deloitte Consulting LLP, a New York based subsidiary of Deloitte LLP and a member of the UK private corporation DTTL (About Deloitte). While the subsidiaries of Deloitte LLP provide several services to a number of different industries, Consulting is one of their most profitable arenas. It is not only the world’s largest management consulting firm, but it is also ranked among the
The company deals in fast moving consumer products and requires an analytics system that helps it serve the needs of its stakeholders more effectively. Thus, by becoming more conversant with various trends in the market, the organization will be in a position to predict future performance in its key business units. Moreover, modern firms
