Schools shouldn’t make kids uniforms because it takes away students individuality. Uniforms also shouldn’t be used because the it takes away students freedom to express them self and individuality also, it’s hard to prove the clothing they wear makes students smarter finally once again. Schools uniforms takes away students freedom to express them self and individuality. In the article “Free to be me,” it stated that many people were concerned that wearing a uniform would take away students freedom to express them self. The reason is that many students wants to show that they are different than each other, so it doesn’t make them feel that they are just like everyone else. So many students and parents felt so strongly about that that they
Student should be free to wear whatever they want. Students have shown how strong and considerate they are of others. Students have learned to not judge a book by its cover. School uniforms never really capture the full creativity of a student. Students need to be thinking of their future kids and if they want their kids to wear uniforms. Many students have complained about school uniforms because they feel like their not themselves. Students love to be free and not told what to wear. The parents have even complained about the school uniforms in many ways. The parents have said school uniforms are way too expensive and don’t want to pay as much. Parents do not feel it is right that their kids can not express themselves because of school uniforms. Parents want to see their kids grow up with creativity and imagination. Therefore school uniforms should be abolished from
Have you ever had to wear a school uniform? School uniforms are plain and they have no personality. Who would want to wear something so plane? School uniforms should not be allowed in schools because they have no individuality, school uniforms can increase bullying, and finally they are so expensive.
Some people think schools should have school uniforms and some don’t. In some cases they should because they can be easier to figure out what to wear. In other cases they shouldn’t have school uniforms because they don’t show ant creativity to what people are like.
Imagine walking to school everyday in the same style clothes. Your entire wardrobe is full of blue buttoned up shirts and khakis or pink shirts and pink skirts. Has this ever happened to you? This is all from a confident sixth grader, and no, I’m not biased. I studied both sides and found reasons why kids should have uniforms. But still, I liked the reasons why kids shouldn’t have uniforms. You expect this to be my number one reason, “Kids should be able to wear what they want to,” nope, that’s not what this entire thing is going to be about. I have multiple reasons for you on why kids shouldn’t have uniforms.
Students who wear uniforms spend a lot of money than students who don’t wear uniforms. Families spend hundreds of dollars on just uniforms for their kids. When the child progresses in each grade they tend to grow bigger and stronger meaning you have to spend more money even though they’re just wearing it for one year. I think that students should not wear uniforms because it’s expensive, students would like their style and students want to look different from others.
One reason we shouldn’t have uniforms doesn’t give us to be unique and our own style, we would all have to wear the same thing.”It stops us from showing their unique side and expressing themselves in ways uniforms can’t.”(www.debate.ur/opinions/doesimposeing-school-uniforms-prevent-students-fromshowing-unique.) Being able to express yourself and dress the way you like is everything to me. I know I would be tempted to wear my cute clothes rather than my uniform. Gillian Sanford from Frontier Middle School said,”I don’t like going to school knowing that everyone is going to wear the same thing. I would also get tired of wearing the same thing everyday.” ” Uniforms don’t give anyway to express yourself, it would take away one of the few things that students can choose in school.” says Justin Qualley from Frontier Middle School.
School uniforms rob individuality from students. First, students should choose their own clothes because clothing is not based off academics so, uniforms take away students originality. As the U.S First Circuit of Appeals says, ”compelled conformity to conventional standards of appearance, does not seem justifiable part of educational process. ” (Con.1). Another reason, is that uniforms affect students self image . To illustrate this, Robyn Silverman says to NBC news, ”As a body image expert, I hear from students all the time that they feel it's allowed for a lot of comparison...girls often feel they don't look their best.” (Con.7). Some disagree suggesting that “girls could still show their individuality. By wearing jewelry, doing their hair,
The article states that “ Many students claim that requiring them to wear particular clothing deprives them of the ability to freely express themselves through their choice of dress”. (What are the constitutional objections to mandatory dress codes and uniform policies). This shows how much school uniforms should be exterminated, they harm not help. As shown above the uniform limit’s their individuality and may harm their personality. In the article by Lee Rowland she states that “school setting does not offer many opportunities for self-expression” she also states “that students cannot freely post or distribute literature without school officials’ permission”( Rowley). This proves that all school’s that have uniform’s they take their school freedom. This information is important because this info proves that most school’s that have uniform’s may affect their social and personal lives in the future. All uniform’s do violate their expression and harm them because of the uniform they express
We should keep school uniforms because kids these days are getting bullied for what the wear and how their wear it. If we didn’t have school uniforms the percentage of bullying would go up tremendously. Children are bullying kids to the point to where their taking their lives.
The debate over school uniforms has been ongoing for years throughout the United States. Those advocating for school uniforms believe that one’s individuality is not determined by the style of clothes a student wears and that uniforms will build a sense of community. They also believe that students will care more for their education if they are dressed as if they are heading off to work instead of off to play. The opposition for school uniforms feels that uniforms squelch the students’ individuality and therefore violate their first amendment right. It is also believed by the opposition that uniforms will not stop the students from
School uniforms are a big situation for parents, students, and administration. Uniforms are a good idea but at the same time they do not help students with their work, or to graduate, and they are uncomfortable after a certain age. Uniforms do not help a student in class because they do not make a student smarter or more engaged. It all depends on the student’s decision if they want to try in class and if they want to be involved at school. Secondly, when it comes to graduation rates and discipline incidents, school uniforms do not play a role at all. Schools that do not require uniforms and schools that do require uniforms have similar statistics of graduating students and discipline. It really depends on the parents and the way the teacher teaches, which impacts the student’s life. In order for students to succeed in school, they need to feel comfortable so they would focus more on their work instead of their clothes. In addition, each person has a different style and uniforms do not let students express themselves. After intermediate school, students should be able to decide what to wear as long as they follow the dress code. In conclusion, school uniforms should not be required because the clothing does not help a student get better grades, or graduate, and they are uncomfortable to wear.
Fashion has always made a huge impact on the youth of all ages. Every student fights to be deemed the coolest in school by wearing the most popular styles. All this focus on who looks the best, takes away from what really matters; learning. School uniforms should be a requirement in public schools because it reduces peer pressure and discrimination, decreases gang activity, leaves more time for students to be focused on learning, and enhances self-esteem.
School systems have debated for years if they should make school uniforms mandatory for all students. Some parents do not want school systems to mandate uniforms due to pressure from their children to be able to maintain their individuality through clothing, while other parents prefer uniforms to reduce spending money on name brand school clothes and to minimize associations with gangs. More school systems across the United States of America are going to uniforms from grades one through twelve where students are still impressionable by their peers. I believe public schools should require students to wear school uniforms to help parents save money in these hard economic times, to limit the number of incidents of violence in the school systems due to gangs and gang associates such as colors, and to prepare students for the job force after school where some places make it mandatory to wear uniforms to work every day.
As I talk with my daughter whose school utilizes a school uniform policy and I observe other families whose children are not required to wear school uniforms, along with the research I have completed I have come to the conclusion, school uniforms are beneficial and vital to the success of our Public School District. I am not totally against children wearing regular clothes; however, I recognize that there are more advantages of having students wearing school uniforms. Uniforms allow students to focus more on their studies and they create a cultural equal environment which is more beneficial in the long term. Uniforms are an essential and should be a basic component of every school system. School uniforms have scientifically proven
My claim is that school uniforms should be enforced because it could prevent students from bullying. Having uniforms could also help teens stop judging and labeling people by how they look or dress. People should get to know each other based on how they and who they are as a person. If everyone wore the same thing there could be a less tendency to judge others based on what they wear. Teens should learns that their individuality comes from within, not necessarily from what they wear or how they look.
