U.S. immigration policy has always been an important topic debated by Presidential candidates for decades. Immigration reform has been ignored by Congress, leaving decisions up to the President and Supreme Court. In the meantime, the hopes of about eleven million illegal immigrants in the U.S., as well as future rules for legal immigration, rest on the shoulders of those decision makers. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both agree that changes to U.S. immigration policy are needed; however, Donald Trump is taking a radical approach suggesting mass deportation and completely revamping U.S. immigration policy, whereas, Hillary Clinton is overlooking some issues and wants to continue to support the policy set forth by the Obama Administration. Regardless of who becomes President, they will have a hard time getting these issues passed through Congress.
Deportation
Donald Trump’s signature topic during his presidential campaign has been illegal immigration. He has generated headlines and controversial remarks during his plans for change. In 2015, when he announced he was running for president, Donald Trump claimed Mexico was sending all their rapist and violent criminals into the U.S. (Gabbatt, 2015). He also called for the deportation of an estimated eleven million illegal immigrants. Donald Trump has built his campaign on his willingness to deport a projected eleven million illegal immigrants; however, most recently his stance has changed. In a recent interview, Fox News
Donald Trump has voiced his strong opposition to Mexicans being in the United States; he even went as far as proposing the idea of building a wall separating Mexico from the US. According to Forbes’ article written by Dolia Estevez, “he wants to deport 11.3 million undocumented workers, 6 million of which are Mexicans, and strip babies born to undocumented immigrants of their birthright citizenship.”
One of Donald Trump biggest suggestions that half of the united states does not agree with is his immigration laws. Trump plans on putting up borders around Mexico. Meaning he is using an
We are now in the 21st century and like the beginning of the 20th century the United States finds itself in the throes of a period of mass immigration. More then one million immigrants enter the Unites States, both legally and illegally every single year. Many argue that this new wave of mass immigration may help sustain the success that our nation is having in regard to the way of living that many American have come accustomed to and yet others believe that although our nation was created by immigrants it is time to "shut down" our borders. The truth of the matter is that there will always be issues in regard to immigration and the policies that the government sets forth in order control who comes into this country. Also now
Within the United States, there has not been a president to solve the issue of immigration reform. This has been a problem for conservatives and liberals in politics. Throughout the 2016 election, the question of immigration reform was posed from both the republican and democratic candidates running for president. The candidate that brought up this significant issue during their campaign was, Donald Trump. Now, a year after being president, the issue of immigration is more crucial than ever before. Since taking office, Trump has taken steps to crack down on undocumented immigrants by ending programs such as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and giving more power to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. (Andrea Gonzalez-Ramirez).
Donald trump wants to cancel out the amnesty program and deport 2-3 million more illegals immediately
One of the major issues that Trump talks about is immigration. His stance on immigration isn’t that he wants all Hispanics deported, like so many people in this country believe, he only wants to have people that come into the country illegally deported. He has said that deporting illegals is something that Dwight Eisenhower did to solve the immigration problem during his time in office. He said, “Dwight Eisenhower, a great president, moved 15 million illegal immigrants out of the country just beyond the boarder… they came back… he moved them way south. They never came back. We have no choice.” Although some people don’t know, Trump doesn’t just want to keep Mexicans out. He wants to let them in, but only if they come in legally.
Immigration has always been a very debated topic, with some people pointing out the opportunities different countries offer immigrants and the people on the other side of the spectrum highlighting the way immigration affects native born people. During the campaign period for the 2016 election, it was clear that candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump had different views. Clinton sought to be more “humane” and mindful when reforming immigration policies and Trump sought to quickly remove the bad “hombres” who were committing crimes and taking jobs. Recently since Trump has taken office, he made sure to be a man of his word and started deporting people, a large portion being those who have committed larger crimes and a smaller fraction
as we know recently trump made the decision that“We will reform legal immigration to serve the best interests of America and its workers, the forgotten people. Workers. We’re going to take care of our workers.”(Rishi Read Donald Trump's Speech on Immigration yahoo.com) This was the most important point that Donald Trump proclaim during his speech in Phoenix after the meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto in Mexico City. President trump regard immigration problem as a most important problem right now. Like he said: “There is the issue of security. Countless innocent American lives have been stolen because our politicians have failed in their duty to secure our borders and enforce our laws like they have to be enforced.”(Marion Trump Delivers The Long Awaited Immigration Speech stocknewsusa.com) For example, because of illegal immigration and the omissions on the immigration policy. A lot of American family lost their family member because they been killed by the violent immigrator. For example, “a 21-year-old convenience store clerk and a really good guy from Mesa, Arizona. He was murdered by an illegal immigrant gang member previously convicted of burglary, who had also been released from federal custody.”(Transcript of Donald Trump's Immigration Speech
Trump made the controversial remarks during a speech on June 16, in which he announced his intentions to run for president. "The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems," the reality TV mogul said. "When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people
The U.S. economy today is not topnotch from a U.S. American’s viewpoint. People blame it on the laws, the economy, other countries, or even themselves and there is an endless list that can be made. One of the problems that have been trialed before us by the Republican politician, Donald Trump, is the population of illegal immigrants in the United States. He believes if we deport all illegal immigrants that our countries crimes will decrease incredibly and that our nation will be strong once again (Timm). As I first heard about this argument I agreed with Trump, but after researching all the plans he has made, and his actions he thinks are “smart”, I’m not sure I would agree with this aggressive, conceited politician.
It’s no secret that Trump has very strong views on our Immigration Policy in the US. His main catchphrase is “Build a wall”. Although this seems like such a drastic and
They are not sending you. They are not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapist. And some, I assume, are good people.” end of quote. According to Washington Post Trump responded by saying, “If you look at the statistics of people coming… I didn’t say about Mexico, I say the illegal immigrants - if you look at statistics on rape, on crime, on everything, coming in illegally to the country, they're mind boggling.” They responded by saying that every part of that is incorrect. He did say his comments about Mexico, explicitly. And data shows that immigrants, including illegal immigrants are actually less likely to commit crime, not more. I believe that those types of comments that he makes are not only deeply offensive to Mexican-Americans, but to Latino Americans in
While his campaign has attracted many people, there have also been a great number of people who have expressed their sincere feelings about the likelihood of Donald Trump becoming president and are very concerned because he does not seem to be serious. The majority of his campaign has revolved around popular media sources, which has allowed him to do fairly well without receiving campaign contributions. Shortly after he announced his candidacy, he said the following: "When Mexico sends its people, they 're not sending their best... They 're sending people that have lots of problems, and they 're bringing those problems with them. They 're bringing drugs. They 're bringing crime. They 're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." The media quickly focused its attention on this comment, which caused a lot of controversy and Trump having to
Today, the United States is home to the largest immigrant population in the world. Even though immigrants assimilate faster in the United States compared to different developed nations, immigration policy has become an highly controversial topic in the Unite States, while much of the debate is around culture and religion, the effects of immigration on economy is clear. Immigration policy has become a highly pressing issue in America. While much of the debate centers on cultural issues, the economic effects of immigration are clear. Economic analysis finds little to no proof to support that influx of foreign labor have reduced jobs or American wages. Economic theoretical predictions and a bulk of academic research confirms that wages are unaffected by immigration over the long term and the economic effects immigration are mostly positive for natives and for the economy over all.
President Trump from the start of his campaign has always had a strict stance regarding illegal immigration. Criticizing Obama’s “home free magnet” policy, Trump wanted to make the nation more secure by increasing deportations. (Rapport) Although President Obama had the “deporter in chief” reputation at the beginning of his presidency after deporting more than three million illegal immigrants, he later curtailed them due to political pressure by focussing only on undocumented immigrants involved in crime, rather than on families, and ones who had recently crossed and were still near the border. (Gidda) He protected immigrants under DAPA by giving out work permits, and unsuccessfully tried to expand DACA. (Gidda) Trump’s new policy, on the other hand, plans on arresting and deporting undocumented immigrants, no matter who they are, if in violation of the law; he is not
