Many people have become successful as entrepreneurs, also become well-known and influential people. People have been able to become successful through the free enterprise system which allows someone to make their own economic decisions without government decisions and allows the supply and demand of consumers to decide whether that person will fail or succeed. A well-known man named Tyler Perry was able to use this free enterprise system and become a very successful person in the entertainment industry, as an African American male.

Tyler Perry was conceived September 13, 1969, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He had a troublesome youth, enduring years of ill-use. In 1992 he guided, delivered, and featured in the musical I Know I've Been Changed. His 2000 play, I Can Do Bad All without anyone else's input brought to life the character Madea, who would later show up in a few effective movies. Perry keeps on writing and create new plays.

The person I know who implements two or more components of the American Dream, is Tyler Perry. Emmitt (Tyler) Perry Jr was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was one of four children. Perry’s childhood experience was traumatic. Traumatic in the essences of experiencing violence from the hands of his enraged father. His father would beat him and his mother for no apparent reason. Not only that but abuse both of them verbally. After being abused not only physically and mentally, he was molested by several adults, both men and women. After these harsh incidents leaving horrible memories, Perry has given up on life. So he attempted suicide but thankfully failed. After is unpleasant childhood, at the age of sixteen, he changed his real name to Tyler in order to separate from his father. Then dropped out of high school, but went back to get his high school diploma, later.

I believe everyone can be successful, if they put their mind to something. Sometimes in life people feel like they are not good at anything, but they don’t try to pursue anything. A lot of the problem is that they don’t practice. A person has to practice and work hard to get to a success level they want to be at.

Tyler Perry is the president and founder of The Tyler Perry Company Inc., (Tyler Perry Studios). He is best known as a writer, director and actor in films, television and theatre. In 2010, the New Yorker described Perry as "the most financially successful black person the American film industry has ever known."

One can say that being successful is based on your actions and how you prepare for the future. In “Outliers: The Story of Success”, written by Malcom Gladwell, he stated that many factors come into play regarding the success of an individual. In regards to Mike Honda, He was a congressman from, California and spent his early years in a Japanese internment camp. Whether if the person was talented or not, Gladwell made intelligent observations when thinking about successfulness. I completely agree with Gladwell on most of the points that he made and I believe that if most of the guidelines such as the 10,000-hour rule, advantageous era of birth etc… are followed, then one will have the opportunity to be successful. But not all of what Gladwell stated like the Matthew Effect (Wright P, 2003), are needed to become successful.

Tyler Perry is a comedian, actor, filmmaker, writer, and songmaker. He is hard-working, determined, and intelligent. Tyler is someone that I highly admire and look up to. Following in a similar path in my career as he did in his is exactly what I want to do.

Tyler Perry became a big name in Hollywood instantly. With all the fame and money he was making, it led him to create his very own production studios name after himself. The studio has produced famous sitcoms, such as, “House of Payne “and “Meet the Browns”. They each showed on TBS. Perry even wrote a #1 New York Times Best-Selling book called “Madea’s Uninhibited Commentaries On Love and Life”. Most people in today’s society define success as someone who makes a lot of money or has done something important to help form today’s society. People such as Bill Gates or Donald Trump are considered successful because they have lots of money. Even actors whose lives are wrecked and destroyed are considered successful because of the money they have. Others, like Thomas Edison, are considered successful because of accomplishments they achieved in their lives. Thomas Edison, for example, created the light bulb, so most people would consider him successful.
