People often learn the most interesting things from speeches that were not even on a topic of interest to them. There comes a time when speeches are worth reading and listening to. Speeches are important because they can provide the audience with informative information that they did not know about or they can motivate an audience with an important message to build confidence. Neil Gaiman, Michele Obama, and President Barack Obama gave wonderful speeches that really show how important speeches are. First Lady Michele Obama connected with the students when she delivered her message. The 2015 speech “Remarks by the First Lady at Tuskegee University Commencement Address which was published on whitehouse.gov website. The First Lady spoke about “Generation after generation students have shown that same grit that same resilience to soar past obstacles and outrages” Michele Obama(3). President Barack Obama gave a wonderful speech at Rutgers University. The 2016 speech “Remarks by the President at Commencement Address at Rutgers, the state University of New Jersey,” was produced on whitehouse.gov website. President Obama gave suggestions to the class of 2016 stating “whatever path you choose—business, nonprofits, government, education, health care, the arts—whatever it is, you’re going to have some setbacks” Barack Obama(9).
