Trust In The Odyssey

Trust has to be earned by everyone. Trust is a very serious word, because it can mean so much to one person. It's usually pretty hard to gain trust and if you break the trust it’s really hard to gain it back. There’s people out there that you can never trust. These people do anything to help themselves out and only care about themselves.

The times have really changed throughout history and especially from the Odyssey was written, how we see certain things right now are completely different from how people used to see them back in the days.Media’s emphasis on loyalty, ambition and trust are drastically different from the Odyssey and because of this shift, it has transformed today’s generation.

“‘We two will know each other, even better- we two have secret signs, known to us both but hidden from the world’” (23. 123-125) This shows that Penelope and Odysseus have things that no one knows about, and that it is really Odysseus if he will know the answer. When he returned on his island Odysseus said, “Twenty years gone, and I am back again on my own island.” 1051-1052 Homer The Odyssey When Odysseus stated that, he said he was gone for twenty years, not once being able to contact his family to let them know he’s still alive. Because of loyalty so strong when they got to when they were ready to kill the suitors, they managed to be successful. They only had five men on their side and there was over one hundred suitors but because of loyalty, they managed to be successful and have their family

Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, is one of the few women portrayed positively in The Odyssey. She is loyal to her husband, but can also be deceiving when she wants to be. Penelope exhibits loyalty to Odysseus when she says that she want Odysseus back (151). She is extremely loyal to Odysseus throughout The Odyssey, and she is constantly trying to delay the suitors from taking her hand and Odysseus’ throne. For three years Penelope deceived her suitors by telling them that she would marry once the shroud she started was complete, but every night she would go and unravel it (169 - 170). This displays that Penelope is still loyal to her husband, and that she wants to . While Penelope is loyal to her husband, after many years of being without him, she is being forced to marry. “And now I cannot escape a marriage, nor can I contribute/ A deft way out.” (176 - 177). This example shows how Homer is portraying women to be weaker than men. This quote also portrays Penelope as helpless and giving up on her relationship with Odysseus, because she cannot do anything about having to marry a suitor. While portraying Penelope in a negative light, The Odyssey portrays Odysseus, who, to say the least, has not been the best husband to Penelope while on his journey back to Ithaca, as a hero and a wonderful

Trust Trust is described in the dictionary as believing within someone. However, it’s not that straightforward to understand. It progresses into a deeper meaning as we continue to live, grow and experience different situations in life. Trust is believing in someone with your heart, knowing that they will cherish it as something really valuable inside of them.

When we consider popular social theory, trust indicates a certain belief and a sense of assurance that is based on strong but not logically-conclusive evidence, or based on some ones character, their ability, or truth that someone or something has shown over a period of time or over experiences. Trust makes for a sense of being safe or of being free of fear, enough so that one 's focus can be on other matters (Spirithome, 2005). Key elements of this definition are its dependence on the foundation of character, its ability and a sense of being safe. Trust is also a public good, according to noted sociologist Giovanni Sartor (Sartor, 2003). Sartor stated if there was no trust, co-operation would end, and the whole fabric of society would collapse. Trust can be defined as the “belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective.” Merriam-

I really care about trust between people because of numerous reasons. First of all, I believe trust is the foundation for all other development of relationships between people, whether it’s friendship or love relationship. In addition, it is very important for people to trust each other, which helps to sustain those relationships built by people. Lastly, trust also helps to testify relationships between people. I believe between friends, lovers, and family members, trust plays an important role.

When we are talking about trust, im having an imagination. I am imagining a paper, that once it crumpled it can be perfect again. That is what people said about trust, and i'm agree that we can't trust people 100%. You can trust someone but not 100%, because people are easily change, first, they are like this and then they are like that, and if you trust them 100% and then they changed, can you trust them anymore?

Trust is a very hard thing to earn. But when you find the right person to trust and how to do it, it can be very important. You get a lot out of trust. For me, trust was something I could easily do. I had the perfect person to trust my best friend Trista. My family went through a tough time my junior year and it was hard for me to trust anyone. My friendship defiantly showed me a different way.

Trust is essentially a feeling, or maybe a cause and effect. Some may say it doesn’t exist, but the way I see it is that trust can be gained and lost. One of the most important concepts of trust is being able to place confidence into another person with no if’s, and’s, or but’s. Most people don’t entirely grasp the concept of trust, and this is absolutely terrifying. People nowadays are very hard to trust, but I have certain people in my life I can trust.

To be chosen for a leadership position and for others to recognize someone as competent to lead, they must possess trust. Trust is associated with a trustworthy person. To be trustworthy would describe a person as honest, truthful and reliable. So for someone to have trust, is the belief that someone or something is undoubtedly capable of being able, truthful, strong, and reliable in a situation no matter the circumstance.

Trust is born out of honest communication. Yes, with our partners, but also with employees and coworkers. In other words, to build anything successful in life takes authentic communication. Through that, we see that whoever it is staring back at us, working alongside us, or mentoring us . we see that they are on the same team. What a wonderful team to be on. These are the people we go to bat for, who we sacrifice for, and are the ones, to whom we, most importantly, give the benefit of the doubt to. But why? From this we see that people can have different ideas of what it means to trust. Some people believe that they give trust, and it 's their choice to give it, while others think it has to be earned, so it is the one who is to be trusted who has the choice. Our ability to trust may be affected by our upbringing and past experiences too.
