Have you ever wondered why so many families have pets? There’s no bond quite like a pet and its family. Pets love unconditionally, they know your feelings, and when you own a pet, they’re always there for you. They make you feel better when you’re down, they bring joy to your life, and they add companionship. When an animal is brought into a family, they become a part of the family, and when they get sick, they deserve the same care and love that a human does. Treating a pet is priceless, because you’re not only making the pet better, but you’re also making the family smile and be happy. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy and relief wash over families’ faces when you heal their family members. This is why I want to be a veterinarian. Although veterinarians take care of domesticated pets like cats and dogs, veterinarians also …show more content…
This summer, I went to Thailand and spent two weeks shadowing a veterinarian. I learned how to spay and neuter cats and dogs to keep their populations manageable. Sometimes, when cats need to be treated by veterinarians, they get skittish. So, I learned how to restrain them to check them better. One problem common to dogs is skin disease. To address this, I learned how to perform skin scraping to treat them for infectious symptoms and diseases, such as hair loss, scaling, or crusting. A frequent disorder of horses is colic. When a horse has colic, they have abdominal pains. To help them, I learned about how colic originates and how to treat it. Many elephants are wounded from injuries, infections, or abuse. To help heal them, I learned how to dress their wounds. Before visiting Thailand, I didn’t know how many animals are treated by veterinarians and how many ways veterinarians help them. This hands-on experience has given me a better insight as to what a veterinarian does and has solidified my career
During my second full week with Dr. Carpenter, I experienced many different situations. Examples from this past week are pregnancy checks, PC dart, embryo implantation, blood transfusion, and upon many others. All of these situations showed me that there depending upon the stage the animal is at in its life depends upon what is the most likely scenario a veterinarian will have to perform or examine on the animal. Everything a veterinarian does has such critical importance due to most human beings being depended upon animals and the byproducts they make after death or during their lives. That is the reason veterinarians have such strict regulations and can only use certain medications due to possible affects on humans such as cancer or disease.
One major part of all peoples’ lives is health care, without it society would have no way of staying healthy and happy, and people would also have no way of treatment in case of an emergency. This also applies to all the pets’ lives are shared with. A certain profession is also needed to provide this care service for all of the animals. The people responsible for this service are Veterinarians. There is a lot to learn about the career of a veterinarian, including all of the schooling required, what a vet does, all of the advantages as well as the disadvantages, and the future outlook for this career.
The practicality and variability associated with this profession will be intellectually challenging. However, I enjoy and am driven by challenging problems. Growing up, I noticed how our pets truly enhance our lives. They are an antidote for our loneliness, enrich our joys, and teach us about loyalty and love. Eventually, I became attracted towards medicine and animals. It wasn’t just because I’m interested in the health and welfare of animals, it was also able because I communicate well with people.
I three summers ago my cat Pluto who had liver problems became worse, he no longer was able to eat or move and had to be put down. My parents wrapped Pluto in a blanket and handed him to me after I got in the car. After my family said goodbye the veterinarian injected a needle into his arm killing him within seconds.
Veterinarians are the doctors that will go out of their way to treat the diseased and injured animals and will give you great advice on how to care for them so you can help them get healthy again. The two ethical concerns that I am going to be discussing are unnecessary vaccinations and inappropriate nutrition.
As excited as one can be to join an organization for a good cause, even so, we still have expectations. I expect to work alongside loveable creatures, including diverse races of dogs and cats. Work with healthy and sick animals; whether the illness is mentally or physically. I am still very indecisive about which career path to take. Therefore, working hand-to-hand with these gorgeous animals will help me consider if being a veterinarian is the path I shall take.
Veterinarians and their support staff are a vital part of the family when your family includes companion animals. This relationship flourishes with a mutual love for your pets and devotion to their care. An urgent care vet clinic has a heavier set of tasks, then a regular vet clinic. What makes UPC different from your normal vet? This is an important question that is best answered before your pet is in need of urgent care.
Tammy always ensures sanitary and comfortable surroundings for animals in her care, she recognizes unexpected situations and notifies supervisor and/or seniors. Tammy performs daily routine tasks with some supervision. Logs are accurate and complete. To be highly successful, Tammy should increase her knowledge of medical terminology and drug calculations. Medical notes should contain pertinent detail when examining animals with or without veterinarian. She will need to achieve 100% proficiency in all areas of her training checklist.
One of the most difficult issues that challenges veterinarians, nurses and other veterinary practice staff now a days involves their responsibilities to the animals and the occasional conflicting demands from clients and society (Rollin, 2006). Their roles have become more difficult with new ethical challenges modeled by issues such as growing public awareness concerning animal welfare, increasing ownership of companion animals, growth of veterinary specialism, experimentation with medicine, and concern for pain management and mental well-being of animals (Rollin, 2006).
Veterinarians are doctors who specialize in treating animals, such as cat, dogs, and animals in general. They take care of animals to make sure that they are healthy. Veterinarians also perform surgeries and diagnose animals with diseases. Veterinarians might advise owners on how to take care of the animals. Veterinarians may have to put animals down because they might be too old or have some kind of illness, so the animal won't suffer. Being a veterinarian can be a tricky job
Once the surgery has been completed, the veterinarian will look over the monitoring form, ask how much total IV fluid was administered, and then fill out the rest of the procedure form (if attached). The veterinarian will then complete all notations in the patient’s treatment sheet (which is located in the patients’ medical record) and prescribe any take home medications (pain medications, antibiotics, etc.). The chart is then kept with the technicians so we can document recovery and administer any post- op medications.
The receptionist was quite pleasant. She was respectful and courteous. Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed with just about everything else. Honestly, I’m not the kind of person who loves to leave bad reviews. In fact, I despise having to do this. However, I take my pups healthcare very seriously. Additionally, this is not the first time I’ve been utterly disappointed with this office. The veterinary technician was very rude. The veterinarian was dismissive. It was as if he’d already made up his mind before even hearing the symptoms. While I tried to communicate my pups symptoms to the veterinarian, I was stared down by the veterinary technician who continuously shook her head. Frankly, I left feeling belittled. However, this is not about
The general area that I would like to study for this research paper is behavioral issues in dogs. Since I am studying to be a veterinarian, this is a very interesting area on my behalf.
The roles of veterinarians in the foundations of our modern society is one of our culture’s best kept secret, the average citizen sees veterinarians as pet care takers, whose value is in the novelty to providing optional medical attention to the pets, belonging to those who can afford veterinary care.; and or support city ordinances by providing vaccination, and spay and neutering services to the local companion pet population. However, veterinarians fulfill many other roles that support our health care system, our department of defense, our agricultural system, and several scientific discoveries that allow society to move forwards.
During my time as an intern at the Ridgefield Animal Hospital, I was given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience behind the scenes in an animal clinic. One of the most frequent duties of mine was to follow the doctors into the exam rooms as they examine their patients and speak to the owners about their pet’s health. In the exam room, the doctors typically obtain an updated weight for the patient, take the animal’s temperature, and briefly inspect the patient’s mouth/teeth, ears, and skin. Often, the doctor would also give vaccinations in the
