A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is an aid that works under the Licensed Practical Nurse that is a (LPN) and a Registered Nurse that is a (RN). A Certified Nursing Assistant can work in different job sites like; the nursing home, an adult daycare center, a patient’s personal home, the hospital, and assisted living facilities. A Certified Nursing Assisted is a helpful hand between the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse and the patients. The Certified Nursing Assistant role is to take care of the patients’ needs, ADLs and anything they can’t do for themselves.

As a Registered Nurse is a crucial component to ensure that there is effective communication between the nurse and patient. As well as being respectful to the person’s dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights. This is because everyone is different, and due to this it is important that I am being cautious to each person’s individual needs.

I am a CNA, I am the person who helps your loved ones, children and maybe even yourself with everyday aspects. I am the person who helps your grandmother get ready in the morning or helps your uncle eat his lunch. I am slapped, bit and yelled at more times than not. I change diapers and clean up vomit daily. I wake up early and stay up late to help you when you whenever you need me. With all of this hard and tiring work comes the rewarding parts. I get to play card games like Go Fish and learn new ones from the residents like Bridge. I sit and talk with residents and hear their stories from when they are young. I get to soothe your premature baby and sit with her as she heals and grows until she goes home. I play board games and color with children who are suffering from chronic illness and cancer. I hold your mothers hand as I tell her it’s okay to go and that she is so loved. I am a CNA, and though I may not be for long I put my entire heart and soul into it and love every second. I have long desired for the chance to work in a medical setting and working in an assisted living home has made me realize that the job comes with so much more than the job description entails.

To help Certified Nurses Assistants better in the workplace I have come up with several solutions. As a new employee these solutions should help a new employee do their job better. As a Certified Nurse’s Assistant myself I find that knowing there are new ways to do things better helpful.

This should be super easy. When the time came around to take my Certified Nursing Assistant test, I thought I practically already got my certificate. The CNA test includes a written portion and a clinical skills test. In order to get the certificate, you must pass both parts. For the clinical skills test, you perform two skills that are assigned to you for the “patient”, which is usually a volunteer, in front of a skills evaluator. My teachers had made sure that we all practiced the skills being tested as well as take practice tests for the written portion of the CNA test. Each time I had done great. So yes, my head got a little big and I patted myself on the back, whispering “I got this.” every time another student would come in nervous from their test. But boy did life have a lesson in store for me.

Nursing is also more than just following physicians’ orders, we as nurses need to be educated and have the ability to provide compassionate care. Nurses often provide information and insight gained from their relationship with their patient that can have a huge impact on their plan of care and final outcome. Nurses also need to be able to educate our patients, so they can be empowered to perform their own care as necessary. I show kindness and consideration toward others when I am in charge. Every time I make the work schedule and I know the certified nursing assistants are going to be short staffed, when I get done passing medication I help them with patient care. Also, when I know a cna is having a difficult time with the patient I stop what I am doing and help the cna with the patient.

I walked through the door of Burgum hall on Saturday expecting to not make any friends, to get lost, to be late to all my classes, and to hate living in a big city. But to my surprise, I did make friends, I did not get lost well not really, I was not late to any of my classes even though I did have to almost run, and so far I love the welcoming community of the Fargo area. My experiences during my first week at North Dakota State University ended up being much better than I expected. Overall, I chose to attend college because it is what was expected of me, and because I wanted to further my education to be able to find a job I will enjoy for the rest of my life.

The team that provides care to patients at this facility would include the nurses, NSTs, OT, PT, respiratory, and the providers. The period I have spent here in Emory nursing school has been gratifying, challenging, demanding, and astounding. Coming into the program, I had many fixed ideas about nursing, and was not aware of all the things nurses do on a day -to- day basis. The unit has 7 stretchers and 6 recliners and the patients being cared for are generally patients from ED, Emory Clinic, ENDO, Vascular, and Cardiac specialties. The skills utilized by the nurses to care for these patients, and their specific pre-operative needs are very unique. A Certified Nurse Educator is a registered nurse whose primary area of interest, competence, and professional practice is the education of nurses at the university level. Before looking at the concept of caring, one must realize that nursing is an evolving art. When one thinks of a nurse and a nurse’s duties, thoughts of medicine, small talk, and general care come to mind. One might also think of their nurse’s smile, gentle way of handling situations, or genuine concern. Gayle Stuart, a Registered Nurse who works in the psychiatric ward with the Singing River Hospital, believes that the objective for nursing has evolved for the better. A patient expects a certain treatment now; this treatment includes not only medicine or operations for their physical ailments, but also a degree of tact, generosity, and level-headedness. This seems to be due to the timing in which the concept of caring reached a point of standard procedure. In turn, the concept of caring would be taught in college and vocational nursing programs (G.
