Social responsibility requires you to put your best foot forward due to legal responsibility. It includes the idea that its superior to be driven by a problem rather than reactive. This includes eliminating anything that causes corruption, unethical and delinquent behavior that may bring a negative impact on the supporters around the environment or the community alone before any type of behavior takes place.

The community relies on small groups within it to be specialized on tasks and a strong community allows the small groups to support each other to meet physical and mental needs with optimal energy use. For example, the men would meet the nutritional needs

The responsibilities include one’s respect, cooperation and participation with members and towards the community. Even children’s have the right to general need such as food, safe home, and clothing. Their guardians or parents are responsible to provide the necessary care and need for the children. However, most prominently citizenship today requires people knowing of public problems and acting together to solve the problems. Volunteering to help the community illustrates a lead participation within the community. This means taking role to join cleaning up the environment, visiting hospitals or nursing homes and share joy and love with them simply through communication. Moreover, volunteering can be intending of fighting a wrong in the community purpose for the common good. In other words, forming a group alliances and building up the strength to stand up against injustices. There are many instances throughout American history such as abolition of slavery, the women’s suffrage, civil rights movement, environment movement, public education and much more. By working together, we learn respect, honor, and responsibilities of rights. The benefit of at the most by encouraging the people in our community to participate would result in a better chance of more participation than not doing anything. Communities are formed by its civilians to facilitate their way of life and to also be a team instead of just single individuals. These communities are formed by the people living in that area and the values they share. Kekes (1993) defines values as ‘humanly caused benefits that human beings provide to others…’. From the various studies, reports and statistics (many of which have been referenced and/or quoted in the Introduction) it is clearly evident that there are a number of different health improvement issues in the town of Middlesbrough. Whilst these health improvement issues cover such things as alcohol and drug misuse, from the reports, statistics and studies, it is clear that the key and predominant health related improvement issue in the town of Middlesbrough, is smoking. The Middlesbrough Health Profile 2012 says that ‘smoking is one of the main priorities for improvement in this area; approximately 30,000 people smoke in Middlesbrough’ (Middlesbrough JSNA, 2012). As a result of this large section of Middlesbrough’s population smoking, it would come as no surprise that a high number of people are suffering from smoke related illnesses and diseases and worst still, dying of these related illnesses and diseases prematurely. The high numbers of people suffering smoke related illnesses and disease will have an adverse impact on the local NHS and other services and in turn, be a high impact in terms of money, budgets and increasing costs that the local NHS

Often times when you’re looking to do community service, you don’t have to look far. It is as simple as grabbing a garbage bag, putting on some gloves, and going out to pick up trash in the ditches on the side of the roads. At the beginning of this course I wasn’t sure what was meant by social responsibility and civic engagement. During this course I realized the meaning of both and the responsibilities that both imply. A definition of social responsibility that I found particularly poignant and concise comes from Entrepreneur Magazine, “Acting with concern and sensitivity, aware of the impact of your actions on others, particularly the disadvantaged” (Entrepreneur Magazine.com).
