“America and Islam are not exclusive and need not to be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings” (Barack Obama). For many decades, in most cultures, religious practice has been a controversial issue, because each religion competes demonstrating that their practices are the true path to God. Religious tolerance is very important because followers should be free to choose their own religion. Some religions are tolerant of other religious groups, however, there are always disagreements because some religions use rituals of physical abuse that does not seem to correct to others. The honor killing in Islam, for example, causes hysteria and anger to other cultures. Over time, the view of religion is changing, certainly, all religions are different in many aspects, but respect the opposing religious groups. Examples of these religions are Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity that originated from different regions and cultures. While Buddhism comes from a different background, Islam and Christianity come from the same source, and have spread in similar ways throughout history, however, the three religions have differences in their philosophies and practices.
These three religions differ in origin, practices, beliefs, worship, and means of salvation, but all three share their faith and a founder who illuminates their lives. Buddhism, for example, focuses on the life and teachings of
It is interesting to note that in the religion of Islam today, there is a general that women are considered to be oppressed and deprived from becoming successful and powerful women. There is a claim within the Muslim community that Islam helped to elevate the status of woman with the creation of the religion in 610 A.D. The Muslim woman in Islam, specifically the married Muslim woman is not protected in Islam through the Quran. They are not considered to be of equal status of their male counterparts.. Many people in Islam believe that women are supposed to be seen and not heard. A woman in their opinion has no “voice” within the religion and are not on equal footing as men. It is my belief that due to the strict teachings of the Quran and Hadith, the status of women within the religion has placed restrictions and limitations on them. Their position in society has not improved or elevated. Women in Islam have no more religious freedoms today than they had before.
In Islam the followers believe in the god Allah. Muslims believe that Muhammad was Allah's messenger. Some other things they believe is there is only one god and that is Allah, believe in equality, and everything happens in Allah’s will. The purpose of life is to live in a way that pleases Allah so one day you will gain paradise afterlife. Muslims do not eat pork of any kind.

Islam is a religion which elucidates the way of life and is the second largest religion after Christianity, with approximately one-fifth of the world 's population and is currently the fastest growing religion. Muslims are existent all around the world and come from diverse nationalities, cultures and races. However, Islam instills that all people are principally equal no matter the differences (colour, class, culture, etc.) as long as they are peaceful and law-abiding citizens. The behaviour of particular erroneous groups or individuals outside mainstream Islam cannot be accredited to Islamic beliefs and practices as correspondingly hostility in North Ireland or illegal mafia activities being attributed
Now that we have talked about the three, and said the things that make them different and unique we are going to say their differences and what they have that is alike. They all believe and worship the same God they just call it a different name because of the languages they each speak. They are all consider a religion called Abrahamic religion. All three religions share the Old Testament, and all have a thing called a Holy Book. They all believe in afterlife which means that they believe after someone dies that they will go and live on in another life as something else.
Judaism and Islam have a large history of fighting which has separated them significantly but they have also grown similarly side by side. On one hand there is the oldest religion and on the other one there is the youngest religion but both of them possess the same belief in monotheism, and to a large extent a similar code of law and scriptural authority. These religions share a similar creation story and patriarchy, since the roots of these two are to be found in the basin of Mesopotamia, dubbed the “Fertile Crescent” of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The story is used here as an opening to introduce a religious law effecting God and the surrounding area of the Arab nations, the Hebrews, the Muslims, and even a mention of Mesopotamian law. Chatim Potok phrases their story in his book Wanderings: Chaim Potok’s history of the Jews and he wrote “Abraham was probably born in the Sumerian City of Ur four thousand years ago a scholar invented a label for the descendants of Shem; he called them Semites,” (23).1
Throughout the class we have learned about four different religions. Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity are all very complex and interesting religions, but all of them are very different from each other. Hinduism and Buddhism are very similar while Christianity and Judaism are similar. The two with the most differences would be Buddhism and Christianity. There are many differences between the two religions, but when a person puts them side by side there are three major differences that pop out at them. Those differences are, who each religion worships, the sacred text of the two, and finally the idea of life after death or the afterlife. Yes, almost all religions have commonalties between them, like prayer or meditation, or even the idea of a human messiah sent by their deity, but at the core of these two religions are very different from each other. In order to understand these differences in greater detail one must look at the origins of the two religions and look at the little differences before you can explore the three larger ones.
There are many religions in today’s time that has grown over the centuries that have influenced many people around the world. One of the religions that have grown exponentially is Islam. Islam is
Christianity, Buddhism, and Hinduism are three of the biggest religions worldwide. Although these religions are popular they have many differences. For example, how each religion views God, heaven, and hell. However, Christianity does have some similarities with Buddhism and Hinduism. Such as the belief in a prayer.
Islam is an ill-perceived religion throughout most of the Western world. Once known as a quiet and peaceful religion, the general perception of people from other religions and most of the world upon Islam is quite distorted. Ever since the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, an influx of discrimination and prejudice towards Islam and Muslims has spread throughout the world. In “Understanding Islam,” by Kenneth Jost, an article about several accounts of how Muslims are mistreated and stereotyped throughout the world, brings up a recent poll within the United States says that 45 percent of those surveyed has an unfavorable view of Islam. The article also states that a CBS poll
The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God". The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a
Islam as a culture and as a religion we have also been able to put to
Islam has six main beliefs in the Six Pillars of Faith, fundamental beliefs that every Muslim must follow, however, I will only be covering three main beliefs; the belief in Allah the only God, the belief in the Prophets and the belief in the Angels. All these beliefs are mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, the Islamic sacred book, and also mentioned by Muhammad the Prophet, God’s messenger.
"Islam" is derived from the Arabic root salaama meaning peace, purity, submission and obedience. Islam stands for making peace by submitting to the will of God and obeying His law. Jews and Christians view Islam as the latest of the world's great religions. However, worldwide Muslims (sometimes written "Moslems") understand their universal religion as the "final religion" and the "primal religion."

The Islam faith grew stronger and united during the lifetime of the Prophet Mohammed. Soon after his death, differences regarding leadership of the Muslim community instigated conflict. By the year 650 AD, the Islamic community had divided into two main branches, the Shia and the Sunnis. Similar beliefs and practices among both sects have allowed for their members to co-exist for centuries. However, differences in theology, law, and religious organizations have caused drastic conflict and competition among the two, dividing and tearing communities apart.
