It is important to have a solid belief in what you’re living is “real” without a belief that the world you’re living in right now is the real world can be a very dangerous path. I know that this world is the “real world”, this recognition of this world as being the true real world is vital to having a true impact on this world in all aspects of life socially, economically, and spiritually. This knowledge of living in the “Real world” is so important because, if I believe that this isn’t the one true world where we live in then who’s to say you even attempt to do anything positive in this life. There’s a possibility for those who don’t see this as the real world to not contribute anything to society when they may be here on earth for a specific reason to share their gifts with the world.
Personally I know and believe this is the real world which prepares ourselves for the next life with God and we must commit our lives to God and do Godly/ spiritual works here on earth so we can get to heaven with God. I learned through reading the bible that human works cannot get you into heaven and you must give your life to Christ. In Matthew 19:16-26 it is said, “16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall
When discussing reality, several questions emerge regarding what reality is. A reality, "the real situation that exist," (Merriam-Webster.com) consists of two forms-perceived reality and actual reality. One spends his or her entire life trying to decipher the difference between the two forms; yet to truly understand reality, it is essential that you comprehend both. Plato 's "Allegory of the Cave," Dick Gregory 's "Shame" and Frederick Douglass ' "Learning to Read and Write" illustrate examples of both perceptions. Furthermore, how conceptualization of reality helps establish who one will become.
People seem to think that everything that happens to them everyday is real. The question is, though, “What is real?”. Is everything you see everyday really real or is it fake? We might see fantasies that other people or machines have created for us. Maybe we are the ones that are not enlightened yet. Numerous essays and films have been produced on this subject. One essay is “The Allegory of the Cave” written by Plato in 360 B.C. Also, the movie The Matrix was filmed in 1999. Even though many differences can be drawn between “The Allegory of the Cave” and The Matrix, there are many similarities as well.
To think philosophically, the reality of living does not really has a definition. Around the 1840s, specific groups of people known as transcendentalists argued that there’s an intensive connection among God, man, and nature. They emphasizes that the main truth of understanding reality in life should be an individual epiphany. Christopher Johnson McCandless from Into the Wild shared similar philosophical ideas as two notable transcendentalists known as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, and lived life like a transcendentalist based on his behaviors and life values.
The way the world is seen varies with each passing person. What is observed as good from one may be the damning pathway to hell for another. Many times these beliefs are instilled upon us at a very early age which can result with a twisted outlook on life that we had little to no control over. As we grow older we are than further influenced through our religion (or lack of), culture, and passed experiences. With that in mind, it is easy to see that reality can be just as interchangeable and further raises the difficult question of what is real? Robert Neville, a man who on a daily basis struggles with the reality of being the last man on earth often only manages to keep going by holding on to the intangibles of hope, denial, and
The world is most likely viewed as “heavy load or like a raisin dried up in the sun” (Hughes). To get a clearer picture of how a realist views and functions in the world an example of this type of person is needed. One example of a realist is a person who accepts the situation as it is and is prepared to deal with it accordingly. In A Raisin in the Sun the realist is portrayed as a person who sees the world as it is but also has given up hope, and has fallen into hopelessness (Hansberry, 134). Viewing the world through the eyes of a realist spins their growth and success or lack thereof in a circular rotation, a repeating cycle of disparities. Which handicaps them to live a life without progress and never achieving their goals and
"But my hope is to write a book that will be useful . . . and so I thought it sensible to go straight to a discussion of how things are in real life and not waste time with a discussion of an imaginary world; for the gap between how people actually behave and how they ought to behave is so great that anyone who ignores everyday reality in order to live up to an ideal will soon discover he has been taught how to destroy himself, not preserve himself."
A person’s way of thinking may lead to the way they view the world, but they are both separate, individual ideas. Thinking is a process; it there are steps involved in its making. Whereas reality is more of an outcome. There are no steps involved in it, only ones that lead up to it. Although both are their own ideas they come together and intertwine to create something that makes up a major part of every person’s life. They both play a part in molding and creating a person, making them who they
The afterlife is a concept that has troubled humans for a long time. For many decades, people have worried about “their ticket” to heaven and what heaven consist off. First and far most, Mouw stresses the fact that there’s more to life than to just make it to a separate world or heaven. He says our life is about redemption of humans, but also transformation of culture. However, people are still and will always be concerned about getting into heaven. Fortunately, Mouw answers these questions with biblical interpretation. Like I said previously, Christians have believed heaven to be a distant world in which saved souls rest after being extracted from earth. Mouw believes heaven to be a renewed creation of God in which the earth is not destroyed, but rather transformed and
In a way, no, she is being honest about what is real, she stated what is really happening in our society now, of course we all have the opportunity to do something worthwhile, but will we all? The chances are slim to none that we do something worthwhile, to consider something worthwhile, I would say you need to do something that has a considerable positive impact on future generations. Take Mr. Stanford as an example, he is happy doing his job and he is making a positive impact on future generations, so what he is doing with his life is worthwhile. If you are not happy and not making a positive impact on future generations, then personally I would say what you are doing is probably not worthwhile then. Happiness and making a future impact plays a major role in the making of a life that has been lived in a worthwhile sense. In high school some teachers and parents throw out this belief that we will all go to college, get a job and live an ideal perfect life with no problems, but that’s not all true. In reality, we will go to college and when the majority of us have completed college there is a mountain of excruciating student loans and then we try to find a job to pay off those crippling loans, but it is not
The nature of reality, at often, shapes the very being of people around the world, both in the past and the present. The nature of reality exists, as often opposed to an idealistic, notional or perceptional idea. Perception, or a way of regarding, understanding or interpreting something, is in complete contrast with physically living through that such thing. Just because one may be aware, or understands a certain situation as it may pertain to the either themselves or others around them, does not allow them the opportunity to name the situation as a reality. In the novel, Kindred, by Octavia E. Butler, one can see how the author believes that one’s environment and, or training will shape their self-image and, thus, their feelings toward
So to start we flushed out the fact that everything is for God 's glory as we focused in on Romans 11: 36 which says this "for from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen." we then saw that God created us for work and that work is a good thing, this was seen all throughout Genesis where we see that God created man and put him in the garden to WORK and keep it. So in the first section we see that everything we do is for God 's glory, and that we will be held accountable for our actions on earth, this is where the idea of "our life on
There was no heaven and no hell; we just survived this period of time on earth. We died, we were buried, we rotted, and that was the end. This was my worldview. This was the lens through which I interpreted everything in life.
What we think is reality will ultimately become our reality if we believe certain things about an individual; he/she begins acting in exactly that way.
“ It’s about examining and exploring the most basic questions of life” (p 3). This idea sounds accurate in my mind. Everyone should be conscious of what is around him or her and what is happening. Believe it or not, life is too short, and we have to live it 100%. This is a concept that I have always considered. Whenever there is a chance to do something different, strange, or having a one-time opportunity to do it, I more than likely take advantage of the situation. I know that I have only one life and I need to take advantage of that particular situation, or I might regret it later. Trying to do as many things possible, in my opinion is good because is it living life to its fullest by taking advantage of all of life’s great opportunities. The more that you do in life, the more knowledge you will have about it. Taking advantage of life lets you free your mind.
Silently, my senses begin to abandon their rationale…who is to say then what is real? The world that we live in, the reality, which we are a part of, is small and thus limited. That is why, in his infinite capacity for potential improvement, man created fantasy. Fantasy is BIG! To a certain extent it is more imaginative, more exciting, and more fun. Fantasy is like a lake where man throws all his ideas and dreams, and then he dives on in from the springboard of imagination. So, jump in to the lake. Why not? Just make sure that when you jump in to the lake you know how to get back from where you came from. Because, no matter how big a fantasy is, to the point that it somehow changes our perception of what is
