In the story, “The Lady or the Tiger” written by Frank Stockton, there was a princess that was driven by her emotions. The princess had to make a difficult decision that changed her life, and not for the better. The princess had a deep love for a young man; no one can come between them, not even the king. Although she loved the young man, she hated the lady behind the door. As difficult as the decision was, she made it without hesitation. She sent him to the tiger so their love could last forever.
The princess was barbaric and powerful, just like her father. She was also in love with a man her father did not approve of. “… She loved him with an ardor that had enough of barbarism in it to make it exceedingly warm and strong” (Stockton). Their young love was so passionate and true. It was something undeniable, something so strong that could cause jealousy. The young man was in love with her as well. So in love that he put his life in her hands, and he gave the princess the choice to choose either the lady or the tiger.
Whether she chose the lady or the tiger, the princess knew she was going to lose him, so she took it upon herself to find out the secret of the doors. “The girl was lovely, but she had dared to raise her eyes to the loved one of the princess...she hated the women …show more content…

Yes, the lady behind the door was beautiful, and was capable of loving the young man. Letting him go to the lady would have spared him his life but not their love. It also would have been really hurtful towards the princess, because just thinking about her lover with someone she hated drove her crazy. So, with the barbaric blood running through her veins, the influence of her hate for the lady, her pride and her true love for the young man she chose to let him go, quickly, but painfully.
