The Industrial Revolution: A Huge Event In American History

The Industrial Revolution was a time of inventions, new ideas, and the process of beginning to make machine produced goods. Prior to the Industrial Revolution in the late 1700s, the manufacturing of goods were often done with basic machines and hand tools. Industrialization allowed a shift to factories, special-purpose machinery, and mass production. In the 1800s when industrialization became popular in England, it took the rest of the world by storm. England was now using new inventions that allowed for an improvement socially and economically. As time continued and England had an increasing demand for goods, more cost-efficient methods like the factory system and the rise of mechanization came into play. Along with many new inventions, the telegraph was invented and allowed for a whole new world of communication.

The industrial revolution was not only technological revolution but a social one that would lie foundation that would grow the word “revolution” exponentially. The industrial revolution brought with it change, whether that change was positive or negative is questionable however it did change the world as it was known. In both England and the United States of America strong industrial revolutions struck, the revolutions would change roles in the household and society for both women and me and the ideologies held about gender roles. In both countries effected by the revolution, industrialization challenged religion and authority, the impact of which can still be seen today.

In American history, the Industrial Revolution was a huge impact to our everyday lives. The Industrial Revolution was a time when many inventions were made to help make daily life easier. Although working conditions were poor and some inventions caused pollution, these inventions were very beneficial. The Industrial Revolution was a positive period in American history.

The Industrial Revolution was a period of rapid growth in U.S. manufacturing in the 1800’s. It helped America trade, sell things, and it helped the economy.

The Industrial Revolution was a key factor in the change of the US for the better. There were many people that invented many useful inventions such as the cotton, the steam engine and many others. The revolution had a huge impact on the thinking power of people to invent things or to reinvent other people's inventions that could be changed for the better by making it faster and do more things at once. This Revolution sparked many people in the north and the south to advance their technologies and work hard to better their lives. Inventions such as cotton Gin, Steam engine and various other innovative creations during the late 1700’s and early 1800’ transformed American life in the South and North.

Starting with the Transcontinental Railroad, people were able to more easily travel and relocate to different parts of the country. Settlement of the West and Midwest increased, but so did commerce. Raw materials could now be easily shipped from one part of the country to factories in another which helped fuel industry. Crops could also be shipped to the cities where they were needed to feed an ever-growing population. It was two-way traffic however as rural Americans were able to buy products that were produced in the cities as well.

From the period of late nineteenth through early twentieth century, American civilization endured vast changes based on the western exploration of the country as well as the industrial revolution it had undertaken. The different genres of its people all endured hardships and historic changes from the times of the Native Americans being forced out of their lands, to changes in population with the amassing amount of immigrants and lack of jobs through the Gilded Age, all the way through the change of the United States becoming an empire based on its acquisitions. But through all these events whether viewed as positive or negative, the powers that were in control, always viewed these changes as progression of the country.

There have been more than one industrial revolution(s). For example, there was the agricultural revolution of the 18th century. Two things that led to the industrial revolution were the Embargo act of 1807 and the War of 1812. The Embargo act forced the U.S to make their own goods to trade with other countries. The War of 1812 made them see the need for better a transportation, independent markets, and economic independence. Before the industrialization, manufacturing was often done in people's homes with tools they had on hand. The Industrial Revolution started in Britain, then spread to other European countries. In addition to producing a large amount of new products, the Industrial Revolution also create a large amount of jobs for people. Many things were invented during the Industrial Revolution. For example: the spinning jenny(wool spinner), the steam engine, the power loom, the telegraph, the sewing machine, the telephone, and the airplane. That’s just a few of what was invented. There are many more things that were made that make life easier for us now. A lot of them we take for granted. Had the Industrial Revolution not happened, we would not be as advanced as we are now. The First Industrial Revolution came about in Great Britain during 1760. This Revolution initiated the use of power machines using: water, coal, and steam. In the 1800s, this revolution made its way to the United States. After many years of the first revolution, many industries began to thrive resulting in the Second Industrial Revolution which advanced society even more.The Revolution had many Social, Political and economic impacts to America. Social Impacts include growth in the population in the North and Midwest which were considered to be the most populated places especially Chicago it was said to have had one million people living there at one time. The populated cities experienced a decrease in public health resulting in poor condition

While a case could be made that the following inventions were just as important globally, for the sake of brevity and personal preference, this essay will focus upon the United States of America. The proliferation of transportation systems, the refrigerator, and the telegraph were the most important developments of the American Industrial Revolution as they allowed for western expansion and established a foundation for growth.

In the past 100 years, the world has shifted enormously. Once, a world that only communicated when one nation was trying to take control of another, is now connected more than ever. This transformation began with the Industrial Revolution in a period from around 1760 to 1840. Thinking back to that time, we can easily think of noticeable differences between how the world was and how it is today. The United States was a small, developing country, still trying to overcome the effects of a costly revolution. Across the ocean, once the United States’ major rival, Great Britain, was still the greatest power in the world. And around the world, China and Japan were nowhere near the economic leaders they are today. However, the biggest changes weren’t the countries with the greatest power and size.

The Industrial Revolution was a significant point in American History. It modified the entire concept of families moving to the city for work. The Industrial Revolution helped Americans to reach a new standard of living. The Revolution eventually led to change in transportation and reducing the cost of manufactured goods that guided the way to mass production and cheaper items for Americans

Many events have happened throughout time. Dynasty's fall and rise, Kingdoms expand and conquer, people learn more and start revolutionary events. One of these was the Industrial Revolution, one of the most important events in human history. From analysis of the Industrial Revolution, it is concluded that it was truly a revolutionary event in human history because of the massive amounts of employment opportunities and the new inventions associated with it, and the vast and complex trade system. One of the most important aspects of the Industrial Revolution was the opening of jobs and new inventions.

America has been expanding and growing since its birth out of Great Britain. The Industrial Revolution has been an influence in the American life since it first in the 1700s. “Most families did not have enough to sell at the market- they had just enough for their own needs.” Up until the factories started booming and employment rates skyrocketed, people really couldn’t become wealthy and live a decent life. As the ways of farming grew the English at the time began to use up more and more land efficiently. “Unusable swamplands could be drained and used for crops.” That’s absolutely amazing that in this era they could turn swamps into areas to raise more crops so they can naturally make more money at the markets and become a bit wealthier. Farming is one of the most important lively hoods of mankind; no matter what argument anyone tries to make. If we didn’t have farming and agricultural production we wouldn’t have all the different sorts of food products we do, nor would they be as abundant. Life would be like it was before the Industrial Revolution came about and most of us would still be growing our own food and barely scraping by in life. With all this agricultural expansion of the time population in England start expanding drastically as well. It also changed our societies from a mainly agricultural society to one in which industry and manufacturing was in control. This had many effects on people’s lives.
