The Importance of Selecting and Hiring Qualified Professionals in Health Care In the medical field, healthcare professionals need to always look into both major and minor aspects including advancement of medical sciences and technology. The process of selecting, hiring and management in a health care environment should involve the basic hiring criteria, and including knowledge in areas that could be irrelevant with critical thinking and patient needs. In health care, professionals deal with situations and dilemmas that are not usually experienced by general public. This includes the necessity of taking into consideration, the common good of all patients, hence the branch of medical ethics called applied ethics, meaning that it deals with the field of practical application of moral standards that is beneficiary for the patients (Bonnie F. Fregmen, 2012). In every business or corporations, the human resource department has a minimum 3 step course requirement to fulfil; planning of staffing needs, recruitment and evaluation, and balance in training, performance and demand (Lorrette, 2015). The goal of the HR management is to achieve the highest level of job satisfaction and dedication among employees which helps retain the employees who can perform the job (Louis E. Boone, 2013). Thanks to technology
Health care ethics is not only limited to factors that directly give rise to ethical issues such as not respecting a patient’s autonomy, and the beliefs and values of persons directly affected by decisions on the treatment of a patient. Ethical dilemmas are also posed by factors considered as indirect yet, very influential on health care ethics and can bring about a major ethical challenge. These indirect factors are considered to be external factors that influence health care ethics. These external factors can emanate from a sector such as the economy within which, is a great influence from market forces such as
Task 1Managing medical ethics is a fundamental part of a Manager’s role. It is the responsibility of the Manager to understand the guiding principles of medical ethics and apply them within the organisation
It is quiet common in health care profession that there is always clash between a patient’s family and health care personnel. It has been observed that few patients inevitably suffer from the consequences, that they made during the course of their care or when they are hospitalized. Many people, who need surgical procedure or diagnostic tests, are compelled to wait months, or in worst cases for few years. This are few examples of some ethical issues that a patients and their near one may need to face in a health care organization (Breslin, MacRae, Bell & Singer, 2005). Besides that there are other issues are present in health sector. Apart from that there is a great discrimination have been observed in addressing ethical issues in health care from one issue to another. Few of the issue receives great attention from different media as well as from government where as others remain unnoticed.
The moral principles apply values and judgments to the practice of medicine as well as in our daily life. These do not give answers as to how to handle a particular situation, but provide a useful framework for our understanding. It represents concepts and values that can set the general ethical character and approach for health care. According to Paul and Ian (2009), it provides a comprehensive description of how medical practitioners should behave but sometime It confuses the roles of ethics and law in medicine, leading to inappropriate and mistaken injunctions about decision making and responsibilities. According to Sturman et al. (2014, p.8), there is a need to explore common ethical issues like confidentiality, writing medical certificates, professional boundaries and affordability of health care in contexts which are relevant to students. These provide a reflection of ethics and professionalism teaching, mentoring and role-modeling. According to AMA Code of Ethics(2009),Because of the special knowledge and expertise, health professionals have a responsibility to improve and maintain the health of their patients who, either in a vulnerable state of illness or for the maintenance of their health, entrust themselves to medical care. So, I think that understanding of ethics and by sensitizing health professional with the issues governs the activities of each profession as well as that of health profession.
