Learning Goals:
The long term and short term goals are closely linked in this ILP (expect long term goal 3), and they are designed in accordance to the curriculum’s learning progression with adjustment based on Ayla’s specific learning needs. While these goals are developed for Ayla, all of the targeted skills or resilience are critical for any individuals to succeed both in schools in their adult life, as individuals with better resilience can deal with depression effectively and learn from failures (Coles-Janess, & Griffin, 2009). Ability to concentrate and efficient time management are also skills that are universally critical, and even some adults may also need help with these goals. It is thus proposed that part of the intervention strategies developed for this ILP should be implemented school wide. This would not only enhance Ayla’s learning progression but also benefit all students. A suggestion is to employ positive education, a pedagogy that have been used and proved effective in schools internationally (Larson, 2016). Positive education advocate the development of students’ broad set of character strengths, virtues, and competencies, which also support students’ wellbeing. The actual plan for positive education will be developed based on the school’s culture, policies, and situation.
Ways of Monitor and Improvements
The impact of this ILP will be monitor by all members of the SSG. Members will keep records of Ayla’s progression (includes Ayla’s self evaluation)
My SMART goal was starting September 1, 2017, I will get 8 hours or more of sleep every weekday until the end of the Fall 2017 school semester. The psychological skills that have been integrated into my life to accomplish my goal are goal setting, positive thought management including countering, thought stoppage, restrictive negative thoughts, and positive self-talk, and dealing with anxiety.
“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” – Henry B. Adams. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education, which is why I have decided to enroll for an education course. I believe that educators have a lifelong impact on their students and on the development of resilience. Thus, I aspire to inculcate my love for learning into the next generation, by influencing and inspiring children all through their formal education.
For my educational plans, I have a clear understanding and vision of where I want to go and who I have the desire to be. For now, I would like to graduate with my Associates in Arts degree in Nursing from Indian River State College. I believe Indian River State is an excellent place to begin my journey and recieve my education in order to better prepair myself for what is yet to come. After I recieve my Associates degree from Indian River, I plan to transfer to the University of South Florida in order to extend my education and potentially recieve my Bachelors and Masters of Science degree in Nursing.
It is exceedingly important for schools to ensure a balanced and stable environment that provides safety, well-being, and acceptance to all students. In order to do this, as well as generate a positive communal learning atmosphere that empowers the entire student body of the school and the individual classroom, there needs to be a school-wide positive behavioral intervention and support (PBIS) system implemented. The defined explanation of PBIS is “a framework for enhancing the adoption and implementation of a continuum of evidence-based interventions to achieve academically and behaviorally important outcomes for all student” (Sugai and Simonsen, 2012). The goal of a PBIS application to a school’s community is to develop appropriate standards
One of the key principles of the curriculum is Health and Wellbeing. This area focuses on the development and maintenance of young people’s mental, emotional, social and physical health. As well as promoting a healthy lifestyle, full of activity, challenge and

Reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls can help build a student’s resilience especially if that student is in a tough moment in his or her life. The Glass Castle shows that Jeannette the main character suffered from a life she now looks back on and did not like. Her life turned upside down after living alone in a house that was falling apart and she had no food to sustain herself, she moves to New York with her sister Lori, in the hope of finding a better life. There is going to be motivation based on being consistent in a daily task that students would be faced with. Being invested in their education can help students become hard workers to build up their resilience. Having a desire to achieve the goal that the students has set for themselves.

According to the American School Counseling Association (ASCA), the “purpose of the school counseling program is to impart specific skills and learning opportunities in a proactive, preventive manner, ensuring all students can achieve school success through academic, career, and personal/social development experiences” (Oberman & Studer, 2011, p. 1). The ASCA National Model is used by school counselors to show devotion to student success (ASCA, n.d.-c, p. 1). The four components of the ASCA National Model are foundation, delivery, management, and accountability (ASCA, n.d.-c, p. 1).
An alternative to expulsion and suspension can be the implementation of School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS) framework (Nocera, Whitbread and Nocera, 2014). It was implemented in a low-performing middle school and it incorporated evidence-based education strategies, improved school climate, reinforced positive student behavior, and improved overall academic achievement (Nocera, Whitbread and Nocera, 2014). In order to change the climate of a school, it must encompass the support of the district, administrators, staff and students. One important facet of the school nurse is case management of conditions and orchestrating care with the school community. This can enable the identification of students with depression, anxiety, behaviors of self-harm and providing them and their families with proper referrals and educating staff on such conditions. Therefore, subsiding harsh punishments and spearheading crisis management of possible destructive behaviors.
Some of the goals of schooling and society in the United States are to develop students and citizens, who have high aspirations, believe in their capabilities, are hopeful they can realize their aspirations, and are optimistic about their future in general. Such characteristics are important because each leads to overall well-being (Bandura, 1977; Scheirer & Carver, 1985; Snyder et al., 1991), student achievement and higher graduation rates (Snyder et al., 2002) through a personal sense of urgency which allows them to take control of their life, challenge themselves, persevere through difficulties, and cope when obstacles arise (McBride, 2012).
I feel supporting students is a collective effort, therefore, my goals are to research programs outside the STS programs in order to provide students with more resources. I will be working with different programs, such as the Career Center, Graduate Division, Study Abroad, etc. to better cater the PPALS population. I now take the time to "self-care". I feel it is important and beneficial to the population I serve that I am healthy. In addition, I understand that there are different populations with different needs, therefore, I try to advocate and support the specific needs to each population. I do this by learning about resources that could aid their transition into UC Irvine. There is always room for improvement. Therefore, I try to learn
Our program’s philosophy on positive child guidance is to discipline instead of punishing children for accidents or mistakes they make. With the help of our committed staff, we can provide a positive atmosphere that will allow the children to feel loved and accepted to help build their self-esteem. Our program will offer the children with choices, but there will also be reasonable, and developmentally appropriate limits. The educators will model positive behaviours that will teach the children to problem solve and build self-control in a healthy, and safe way.
One of the best ways to follow a successful path is to set goals for yourself. They are important to keep yourself on task and to get to a desired point of self fulfillment. The issue can be how to achieve goals in a successful manner. The issue is "Although people may desire or intend to attain some outcome, they are not committed to that as a goal until they are willing to invest affect, cognition, and behavior in attaining it" (Traci Mann, 2013). This is why it is important to have a set path on how to accomplish important goals. I have chosen three goals that I want to accomplish to demonstrate a Process known as SMART, to help accomplish them. There goals are that I want to finally earn a college degree(personal), I want to make it
When I was 17 years old, my father was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Without a doubt it was an event which marked my life and helped me mature in many aspects. I witnessed how my father began to lose his cognitive functions like his ability to focus, changes in his personality, behavior and emotions. This was the first time that I felt interested in learning how the brain process the information and motivated to learn more regarding this disease in order to help him. After my father passed away, my mother fell into a depression so I began to search for ways to improve her emotional state by reading books and magazines on the subject.
