The average American spends 3 hours and 32 minutes a day working and an average of 8 hours 50 minutes a day sleeping. Which means less people are in the workforce, but among those who have a job, they spend more time working than worrying about the things that are important to them. In addition, people are wasting their time by doing things that do not benefit them. For example, sitting around and watching tv, playing on your phone for hours, or just doing nothing and sleeping when it is not necessary, including me. Importance has a different meaning to everyone, but for me importance is getting a good education in school to graduate college and make a living, hanging out with my friends and being there for them, and most importantly my family. I am a highschool student and I do spend half or maybe even a little bit more of my time focusing on the things that are not important when I should be.
As a high school student I am not worried about the things that I should be worried about instead I take them for granted or focus on the little things. I’ve been playing soccer all my life and it will always be a part of me. Before highschool, I was playing on a club team that would practice twice a week and play a game on saturday, but since highschool, soccer has become a daily thing. Soccer is really important to me, but it should not be my main priority unless, I am so good I play for a national team, which I don’t...not even close. For spending this much time on this sport, it
The way you grow up directly affects how successful you are in the future. Many parents can’t provide as much to their children to give them the necessities they need for school, medical care, and even the basic needs. When it comes down to it, the way a kid is taken care of shapes who they are as a person and their development in this world.
During my childhood, my goal was to achieve my education because I knew that it was essential to success for not depending on others. Hence, having a diploma from college was my priority. What can people gain from having a college degree? Unfortunately, in 2013, my life turned in another way, my priority was not anylonger finishing my education, but taking care of my child. I was pregnant with my first child when I was 19 years old, and I stopped to go school and so that I can take care of him. It was certainly hard for me to choose between my education and my son. Nevertheless, I knew that sooner or later, I will have an opportunity to go back to study. It was my first year of my college when I dropped out of school, but my parents always pushed me to continue my education. When I think though about having a better life, I decided to go back to the college and make my dream successful. I knew that I will have more benefits by by returning to college.
Now that we have outlined what Plato’s Pedagogy contains, I shall now proceed to ask myself if my education meets Socrates’s standards. The following information will cover any intentional or random education I received, the discrimination against specific materials in my life, and the role of fear and pain in my learning. Each section will loosely follow the age groups of which Socrates explained in his pedagogy. The age groups will include, 0-5 years, 5-10 years, 10-15 years, and 15 years of age to the present. The following information will also consider what Plato/Socrates would say about my education. Through Plato’s Republic and Pedagogy I have discovered the influence my education has on who I am, and who I am not.
As the daughter of Muslim immigrants, I grew up watching my parents work unpleasant jobs and long hours. Although my parents were not able to finish school and receive a high quality education, they continuously work hard to ensure that my siblings and I are being educated at the best schools. My mother always emphasizes the importance of education and taking advantage of the opportunities that arise with becoming educated. Since the very beginning, my parents have instilled in me, the love of learning and valuing the essence of education.
Most people agree that the value of education is indisputable. Education is important to everyone because it leads everyone to a better future and a better life. Education helps people have more knowledge and to improve their thinking. Education is as important as this because education gives people the knowledge and skills they require and need. Education is just like a weapon that anyone can have because if you have education nothing will stop you from what you want to do or change. Furthermore, the people that studies and graduates have the highest paycheck comparing to these people that do not study. I intend to discuss the significance of education and summarize if a student should or should not attend college after high school and how it affects their future. I will reflect on how the significance of education will affect my future after high school. I plan to go to college after high school and get educated.
A school is a system designed to provide a learning space for people under the influence of educational professionals. For centuries, education has played a major role in developing and changing the world. Therefore, children are obligated to go to school at a very young age to expose them to new skills, ideas, and knowledge. School is to provide the individual with the opportunity to further develop and learn their purpose in society. All around the world people are taught the same thing but feel unsatisfied and useless, are judged and labeled as a letter or number, yet for some people this system is beneficial for them.
Public education began in the nineteenth century, now the majority of people have received some sort of public education. Whether someone has received a middle school education or a college education, any education will impact someone's life. Throughout educations existence, many people have come to believe there are many flaws with its methods, which is limiting students. However, public education helps to promote students to gain educational knowledge, the knowledge someone gains will positively affect their future.
According to the book on page 363, “education is a social institution through which a society’s children are taught basic academic knowledge, learning skills, and cultural norms.” Every nation has some sort of educational system which teaches all of these thing and each system varies greatly. What affects the educational systems the most is the money that goes into supporting each system. Many factors come into the amount of money that is spent on educations. A main one is the wealth of the country that particular system is in. The countries that have little to nothing are barely able to support any kind of education, if any. This is a social concern for many countries.
There is a famous quote by Miles Kingston that states, "knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad." Often people use the words Knowledge, Wisdom, and Education interchangeably. However, this is far from appropriate. Currently, being an educated individual does not necessarily mean that that individual is wise or knowledgeable but simply that he or she has had an "education" and therefore carries a level of status and qualification.
Education is a necessary asset as it prepares children for adult life teaching them critical thinking skills as well as providing access to knowledge about the world they live in. Education imparts life tools, developing intellect as well as personal character, largely impacting many students lives, biasing their roles and lifestyles as adults. Black children suffer from an inadequate education as a result of an issue we legally eliminated sixty years ago, race. Since whites have been given the upper hand black children struggle for equal access to quality education. Over the years white influence has caused hardships that limit blacks from access to equal education. Black children are deprived of a quality education because of the lack of choice available to them caused by the restrictions associated with their race, lowering their likelihood to succeed. Being in this predicament ignites little belief and causes profuse sacrifices, resulting in defining freedom in a country where freedom is supposedly accessible to all, rather as something that is not complimentary but must be worked for.
Parents put their children through the educational system with the hope that their education will lead to real world success. Many skills and lessons are taught and learned in the average 12-year education that children are required to undergo. Although schools teach many subjects such as math, science, and English; many would criticize that they do not adequately prepare students for real life. Some, if not most, classes that are required during grade school teach useless life lessons that are not transferable to the real world. These classes are tested and graded by a system that is not visible in real life. All throughout a student’s education, teachers who may not care about the students, train them to pick a degree and get a job, without offering more creative life plans. This letter is being written to inform you, the school board, of the flaws in the public school’s curriculum and ways to improve them.
Although, freedom is not possible with out an education. Any free society is not possible unless education is present. But what is education? When is something education and when is it indoctrination? Is indoctrination really always bad? These are the questions that must be asked when diving into this theme.
Though education in the United States has been limited in history, the necessity of education has now been accepted by virtually everyone in this country -- and the access to it is better than ever. In most cases when rights have been abused and limited, present and in history, it has been at the hands of the federal government. The importance of education has been emphasized highly and has even led to presidencies proposing bad legislation defining what education is. Education is important to participate and live in a civilized society, therefore it must be considered a right, and should apply to everyone while ridding of all corruptness from government and society that limits one from obtaining it.
ducation is a very significant aspect of nowadays life. Personally I am convinced that education is extremely important in shaping my future career and personality. It will shape me morally, intellectually and academically qualified. Due to the education my opportunities will increase, and I will be a honorable person in the society. John Dewey once said, “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” I never thought education was extremely significant when I was in elementary. But, I was sure lucky to be able to get educated, some of us never realized how fortunate we are. Quality education is quite difficult to find, maybe even education itself is hard to discover to certain people. It’s also hard to find quality teachers/staff and schools. I realized that problem many times.
