(A CASE STUDY OF ZENTH BANK PLC)
ABSRACT
Manpower Training and Development is a very important aspect of human resources management which must be embarked upon either proactively or reactively to meet any change brought about in the course of time. The rationale behind it is to web the job and the job-holder together to achieve the organizational objectives.
This research focuses on the impact of training and development on employees’ performance in the banking industry using Zenith bank plc as a case study.

NULL HYPOTHESIS:
There will be NO significant relationship between training and development and employee performance
ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS:
There will be significant relationship between training and development and employee’s performance. 1.6 SCOPE OF STUDY
The scope of this study is restricted to examining the manpower training and development needs at Zenith Bank Plc.
The categories within the study encompassed within the organization include Top management, Middle management and junior staff of the organization. The following are some of the training done by the Human Capital Development department: on-the-job training, formal and informal training, training programmes, upward movement, lateral movement, etc.
It is worthy to note that included in the staffing requirements are non-formal or non-professional workers like office assistants, security personnel, dispatch riders, maintenance, etc. However, our interest will be focused on the middle and junior management and the generality of operatives.

Incorporated as Zenith International Bank Limited on 30 May 1990 and Headquartered in Lagos Nigeria as a private limited liability company, the Bank was licensed to carry on the business of banking in June 1990. The Bank's name was changed to Zenith
Training and Development is imperative to the organization’s progress. Training helps addressing employee weaknesses and builds a reliable and skilled workforce. This will improve the employees’ performance and boost their self confidence, and innovation. By acquiring the needed knowledge and skills, employees can perform more efficiently and increase the overall productivity of the organization.
When the organization invests in training and development to improve the knowledge and skills of its employees, the investment is expected to yield productive and effective employees. The programs could be focused on individual performance or team performance depending on the development need identified by a training needs analysis which helps in the creation and implementation of training and management development programs. Training is an important facet of developing and managing human resources at any organization.
