The Great Compromise
Global Warming has been a very serious conversation over the last decade, because it affects every person living on the planet whether we choose to believe it or not. Most of the scientific community claims that global warming is to blame for the changes in Earth’s climate. However, there are a small number of scientists who deny the very existence of global warming. Temperatures on earth have increased approximately 1.4°F since the early 20th century. Over time, atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) have notably increased. Both sides in the debate surrounding global climate change agree on the CO2 and CH4 being increased and that’s it.
Research conducted by the Intergovernmental …show more content…

In their arguments, they point to the fact that climate has been known to change periodically. Therefore, the current warming of Earth should be seen only as another turn in the planet’s natural history. John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel, well known in the meteorologist community insist the theory of man-made climate change was no longer scientifically credible. Instead there is for rising global temperatures points to a 'natural phenomenon' within a developing eco-system. Although the planet has warmed 1-1.4°F, it is within the +/- 5°F range of the past 3,000 years. A 2003 study by researchers at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics found that "many records reveal that the 20th century is probably not the warmest nor a uniquely extreme climatic period of the last millennium." A 2005 study published in Nature found that "high temperatures - like those observed in the twentieth century before 1990 - occurred around AD 1000 to 1100" in the Northern Hemisphere. A 2013 study published in Boreas found that summer temperatures during the Roman Empire and Medieval periods were "consistently higher" than temperatures during the 20th century. Per a 2010 study in the Chinese Science Bulletin, the recent global warming period of the 20th century is the result of a natural 21-year temperature oscillation, and will give way to a "new cool period in the
