The Good and The Evil
There is good and there is bad, I was only twelve when I figured this out the hard way. It was late during school when an alarm went off. I was a kid “what can go wrong” I thought to myself as I foolishly opened a door we were clearly prohibited to open because of a gun man near our school. This very action lead the school to expel me and this would change my life for the good. Although my bad decisions helped me know better, it’s the bad that lead these three myths to suffer long life consequences that ultimately explain why the earth is why it is today. These three myths show the struggles and obstacles the Hebrew, Cherokee, and Maori people had to overcome because of their vicious ways and or their actions under certain obstacles that challenged the people of these myths. In the “Yahweh” myth the author communicates “In the garden was a snake, and the snake persuaded the women that she could eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil without dying…She ate the fruit, and gave some to the man too.” (Creation Story World 33). Therefore, the snake making this bad decision, led to Yahweh cursing the snake shouting, you will be cursed by crawling your whole life and the women’s children will eat you, the women being Eve, whom he had beguiled into eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But not only was the snake cursed, Adam and Eve were also cursed. Yahweh told Eve that she would be cured to suffer the pain of childbirth and
The world can make or break us, but it depends on if they let society change your way of life and being. Innocence is a trait that we are born with they do not have enough knowledge to act in evil. It is the way people are raised, society and even human nature that enhances a negative toll on people.
However, evil soon entered the garden in the form of a serpent. One day when Eve was walking in the garden she encountered the evil serpent who encouraged her to take a fruit from one of God’s forbidden fruit trees. The serpent succeeded in deceiving Eve to take a fruit; she then ate the fruit and shared it with Adam. Then God became angry with Adam and Eve for betraying Him. To punish Adam and Eve, he ejected them from the garden and subjecting them to mortality, painful childbirth, sin and shame.
The book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is often associated with a various number of themes such as racism, social inequality, the importance of family values, and much more. But one of the more hidden messages of the book centers around the idea that there is a coexistence of good and evil. This theme is really brought to life the more the reader is able to understand the book. Through sub themes such as coming of age, perspective, and intense characterization of many important characters the idea of good and evil is really brought to light.
Good and Evil were currently planning on going to war, fighting with all their might. This happened frequently, located at the center of a person’s character- the heart and soul. The armies fought countless battles and this one was no exception. The war would be named later, with all the human’s friends repeating the gruesome details of the battle. The human would be known and categorized by this and whether Good or Evil prevailed in his heart.
The serpent eventually persuades Eve to eat from the “Tree of Knowledge”. After she eats from it, she has Adam eat from it. Shortly after, they finally notice they are naked and become self conscious and cover up. God then asks about what they have done and Eve blames Adam, while Adam blames the Serpent. God curses them, and makes Eve suffer through labor and banishes both of them from the Garden of Eden.
In the Christian Story there was also a tree and Adam and Eve must not eat from the tree. But the snake seduced the woman to eat from it.
The problem of evil is the notion that, how can an all-good, all-powerful, all-loving God exists when evil seems to exist also. The problem of evil also gives way to the notion that if hell exists then God must be evil for sending anyone there. I believe both of these ideas that God can exist while there is evil and God is not evil for sending anyone to hell. I believe hell exists in light of the idea that God is holy and just. The larger is how anyone can go to heaven. I will try to answer the problem of evil with regards to the problem of heaven and hell.
In the book of Genesis, a snake brought temptation upon Eve to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Used as a device of the evil, the snake institutes separation between God and man, thus forcing humans to live the remainder of their lives under the coercion of sin. In Numbers, chapter 21, God employs serpents to punish the Israelites for speaking against God (Wynne 1). A conflicting view is evident in this passage that corresponds with the story “Sweat”. In the Bible, God gave Moses instructions to form a bronze snake and set it upon a pole. Anyone that set their eyes on the pole would be relieved from their affliction. The serpents tyrannized the Israelites, but nevertheless, saved them from their maladies. Corresponding to the story, Delia is persecuted by her husband, Sykes, is represented in the form of a snake. The snake remains a constant hindrance throughout the story, but, becomes her savior at the end, despite its unwanted presence. A bite from it brings death to Sykes, thus freeing Delia of maltreatment. “she could scarcely reach the Chinaberry tree, where she waited in the growing heat while inside she knew the cold river was creeping up and up to extinguish that eye which must know by now that she knew” (365). The snake is a tormentor but becomes the redeemer. It implements hysteria upon Delia but is the source of her relief from her oppressive
For Genesis most people would characterize Eve as being foolish for listening to a snake, however, I see it as being curious. The snake is described as being “more subtil than any beast of the field” (Genesis 1.1). She cannot be blamed for being a fool since the snake was clearly more cleaver than she was. Adam however committed the same crime as Eve, but he was convinced by his equal to do so. When God created man and woman he made them clueless, they were unaware of good and evil. Eve saw the opportunity the tree of the knowledge of good and evil had to offer her. The tree would make her wise and although God said they would die from eating the fruit they did not. By acting independently Eve was able to open her eyes to the truth of her surroundings. In Proverb they describe everything a woman does more than just bare children. They are smart individuals who have the ability to achieve
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made (English Standard Version Bible, Gn. 3:1).” In this quote, the reader can infer that the Serpent is sly, devious, and cunning and should not be trusted. To see that the Serpent is tempting Eve the bible says, “He said to the woman, ‘Did God actually say “You shall not eat of any tree in the garden”?’ . . . But the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’(Gn. 3:2-6)” This quote shows the actual tempting that the Serpent did to get Adam and Eve to eat the fruit.
Eve was duped by the evil serpent
Like the current days of the world, good and evil are very big things compared to the world we live in. Good and evil are displayed throughout the book through the three different situations. The three situations are the society as a whole during WWII, the eight people in hiding, and the character of Anne. As a Jew, Anne suffered lots of evil like her family being taken away from her, torture, and many other acts. In WWII times, the society was dead and the world around Germany was also.
As the story continues, the snake was tempting Eve by telling her that the consequences of eating from the tree in the middle of the Garden will not cause death, but a gain of wisdom, knowing good and bad. In ancient world, snakes were known to symbolize wisdom, fertility, and
Good surrounds us all. However, as well does the evil. It's a dangerous over-simplification to believe that some people are innately ‘good’ while others are innately ‘evil’ or ‘bad.’ This misleading concept has corrupted the justice system of many countries. It is believed ‘bad’ people commit crimes, and since they are intrinsically ‘bad’, they should be locked away to prevent any harm to the ‘good’. This concept has also fueled many wars and conflicts in history, and even in the present day. For example, the terrorist group named ISIS is currently terrorizing the United States. This evil forces the United States to take action and fight back in order to maintain the good and peace within the nation. The good versus evil concept makes groups
However, they rebel and sin enters the world after a serpent tricks Eve into questioning God’s love and motives. In her gullible innocence, she ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3). Eve shared the fruit with Adam and they spiritually and physically die. This was catastrophic to Gods Order and led to the condemnation of all human beings (Roman 5:18). Immediately, they
