It all started in 1995, when Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University. Larry was 22 years old and a University of Michigan graduate. Sergey was 21 years old at the time and was assigned to show Larry around campus. Larry Page decided to attend Stanford University and became close friends with Sergey Brin. The first office space they started in was in Susan Wojcicki's garage on Santa Margarita Ave., Menlo Park, California. February 1999, Larry and Sergey moved out of Susan’s garage and moved to 165 University Avenue in Palo Alto. Then, they were able to hire only eight employees to start off their growing business. In August, they are able to open up a Mountain View location at 2400 Bayshore, south of Stanford University and near some city named Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and San Jose. With each passing day we advance more and more technologically, carving another notch into the timeline of humanity’s progress. Of all advancements, I think it fair to say the Internet is one of the largest, marking the beginning of the information era we now live in. The birth of the World Wide Web gave way to the creation of search engines with Google in particular being the stand-out, setting the precedent which other search engines would follow. Contrary to the ideas shared in Nicholas Carr's article "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" I believe that Google provides a near-constant flow of knowledge at our fingertips should we simply seek it, making it an indispensable tool in growing the mind. The article discusses the ideas

A)Google's two-sided platform concentrates on products and services that unite users in the network. The triumvirate of Schmidt, Brin and Page has the CEO and two presidents orchestrating (in Schmidt's own words) a kind of "run-and-shoot offense" (Google:3), allowing the search engine to profit both as a place where web searchers can locate information and a place where businesses can advertise their products. What began as a Stanford University research project became an algorithmic dream, providing quick access to web surfers around the world and a new way for advertisers to reach an audience.
Google is the most successful information technology and web search company in the world. It was founded in 1998 by two Stanford Ph.D. students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The company name, Google, is a play on the word “googol” which is a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. Larry Page and Sergey Brin chose this name to reflect the large amount of information on the web. The two created this search engine so that people can find anything on the web all in one place. The company’s mission is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” Now, the company is far more than a search engine website, it has grown to be a substantial collection of products and services that are
