Postmodernism has a great impact to the western ideology and thoughts. It is a challenge to all human disciplines, which are often considered to be a search for ultimate truth. The purpose of this essay is to examine whether postmodernism is a leap forward or back in epistemology and ideology. In order to do that, evaluation on how postmodernism has challenged the mainstream reality and the contradictions postmodernism embodies will be discussed. Postmodernism is an ambiguous term to define. In the context of this paper, postmodernism is understood as in the work of Jean-Francois Lyotard and Michel Foucault. It should be clarified that postmodernism is a broader area than that covered in the works of the above two writers.
Before the postmodernism

The existence of reality, or objective truth, is independent from human representation. It is true that all people are bound by their cultural background to have an objective view, hence impossible for human to achieve objectivity in this sense. However, it is possible for human to reduce its influence and get as close to objectivity as possible.
Thirdly, scientific knowledge is supposed to be superior to the other narratives as it provides objective knowledge that is independent from the motive, gender or race of the person who makes such claims. It is objectively true even the person who claims it has a certain social background. Newton’s Law of Physics would still be a breakthrough for science even if it is brought to the world by people other than Isaac Newton. And Einstein’s Relativity will still be plausible is he is not Jewish. The truth of scientific knowledge depends on only the empirical results.
Lastly, postmodernism does not provide a solution for interaction. For example, where does postmodernist stand on the dispute between Israel and Palestine? Both Jewish and Arab populations are justified to believe that they are only protecting their own people. However this leads to nothing but war and chaos in the Middle
The first type of reality, objective reality, is the world around us and how it works. It just is. The second type, subjective,
The book Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity written by David Entwistle (2010) talks about the relationships between theology and psychology throughout the history of each and how they both can be integrated. Some people see Christianity as areligious belief and psychology as a profession. Entwistle (2010) explains that the worldview with which you were raised, are modified by your personal experiences and reflections. The worldviews ask four questions: “Who am I?”
Hassan is the pundit of the anti-binarial division of the postmodern. He details that postmodernism is not anti-modernism; it is not a "reaction to" or successive movement. Indeed, it is different than modernism, but also shares many
A weakness of postmodernism, its central one according to critics, lies in its refusal to point out an alternative path for social life. Postmodernists assert that all aspects of social life are subject to the same dynamics so as such, there is
Though elders may scold the Millennials for being stuck in a plastic universe filled with social media and indirect communication, they fail to see what we, the youngest generation, may have to offer. In past times, the population had lacked an awareness that we are now able to grasp with our fingertips. Thanks to Millennials and some of the generations previous to us, all things are worthy of discussion, even if we choose to do so on a screen instead of through our voices. From music to television, movies to blog posts, society as we know it today is much more progressive than ever before.
Postmodernism is a term which is highly contested in the sociological world, where it is used to indicate a significant detachment from modernism. It is easier to give the uses of the term; ‘to give a name to the present historical period, to name a specific style in arts and architecture and to name a point of rupture or disjuncture in epistemology’ (Buchanan, 2010). For this,
…..is a postmodern text as it emphasises the form rather than the content. It demonstrates a belief that language does not simply mirror the world, but aids us in reconstruction. Postmodernism is sceptical about the universal truth as well as the language that claims to be authoritative and objective. Postmodernism in the life of human beings. Does it answer the questions or does it leave a question mark?
Where Modernism is characterized by disillusionment and cynicism, Postmodernism turns to satiric critiques. Satire is a genre of literature that ridicules human follies in the hopes of improving society. “In our postmodern culture which is TV dominated, image sensitive, and morally vacuous, personality is everything and character is increasingly irrelevant” (Wells). We have managed to push aside the important qualities and instead only lay focus to the materialistic and unnecessary requirements in the world. In postmodernism disintegration of barriers is key.“This isn’t life, it’s just stuff. And it’s become more important to you then living…”(American Beauty). Our society is built upon the desire to accumulate, if not even to please oneself but to make others covet. The obsession people have with obtaining materialistic goods in the hopes to make themselves happy is a dark path which many fall down. It ultimately results in the downfall of society and the loss of traditional values and humane morals. The post modernistic world is one that can’t be avoided, but also doesn’t have to consume everything humans have cherished for so long. The world I currently live in is not one I choose to want to live
Post Modernism Perspective’s- "According to postmodern perspectives, existing theories have been unsuccessful in explaining social life in contemporary societies that are characterized by post industrialization, consumerism, and global communications (Kendall, 01/2014, p. 29).”Postmodern theories are based on the assumption that the rapid social change that occurs as societies move from modern to postmodern (or postindustrial) conditions has a harmful effect on people. One evident change is the significant decline in the influence of social institutions such as the family, religion, and education on people’s lives. Those who live in postmodern societies typically pursue individual freedom and do not want the structural constraints that are imposed by social institutions (Kendall, 01/2014, p. 29). "Postmodern (or “postindustrial”) societies are characterized by an information explosion and an economy in which large numbers of people either provide or apply information, or they are employed in professional occupations (such as lawyers and physicians) or service jobs (such as fast-food servers and health care workers). (Kendall, 01/2014, pp. 29-30)

Postmodernism is a universal movement, present in every art and discipline. In architecture, postmodernism is precise as well as ambiguous thereby in need of an explorative pursuit for a consensus of what is meant by the movement in this perspective - between the works of Charles Jencks, a primary theorist of this architectural turn; Heinrich Klotz, a leading architectural critic; and William Curtis, an architectural historian. The progression of this paper is highly influenced with Jencks’ studies as his works are often times referenced as well by both Klotz and Curtis in their individual interpretations and further accompanied with either supporting statements or contradictions.
Postmodern writing evolved around WWII in response to Modernism that dominated the 19th c. The two writing styles share many characteristics, but the defeated modernist wallows in his realizations whereas the postmodernist offers a light or hope in conclusion. There is still a sense of foreboding for the postmodernist concerning science and technology. However, they are able to forge past their distrust, accept it as a logical progression, and begin to embrace some elements of advancement. Postmodernists have also lost faith in transcendence and spirituality, but to counter this loss they search and find hope in mystical forces or worldly treasures. Objective reality doesn’t exist for them either, but
The main features of a postmodernist are that he or she is overly subjective, sensitive towards the role of ideology in assertion and maintenance of political and economic power. On the other hand, a modernist for example, there exists objective natural reality which is independent of human beings, their practices and relationships (Duignan, 2014). Such realities
Postmodernism refers to a broad term used to explain movements in philosophy, art, music and critical theory. Postmodernism is viewed as a reaction to the pioneering modernist movement. In literature and art, postmodernism responds against classical ideas. With respect to post-structuralism and structuralism, there is a great difference between postmodernism
