They ruled an empire in Tenochtitlan in the time of 1350 to 1519. They also were known for their agriculture and human sacrifices. Agriculture was a very important part of their h istory because without their farming method the Aztec couldn't have created such great civilization. According to Document A of the Aztec DBQ, states that the Aztec empire grew more than 200 miles west to east, and north to south. According to legend, Huitzilopochtli (god of sun and war) told them to go where they was an eagle sitting on a cactus with a snake in it’s mouth. Although, historians believe that other more powerful tribes had settled around Lake Texcoco. The Aztecs had no choice but to settle where they did. Overall the Aztec Empire was very powerful, and successful. Mainly they should be known for their innovations. Politically, through lightning quick attacks, chinampas, and emperors being chosen on merit. Economically, innovations such as chinampas, causeways/raised roads, and canals. Lastly, innovations were used socially through calpullis, aqueducts, and Calmecacs.

Before they got to Tenochtitlan, the Aztecs were from Aztlan led by chief man Tenoch. It was believed that “they were hated and rejected by all the surrounding inhabitants of the valley because they were uncivilized” (Aztec Culture). It was also believed that the chief Tenoch got a message from their God that said to lead his people to a place surrounded by Lake Texcoco and, where they saw an eagle eating a snake on a cactus that was their place for them to grow. During the next couple of years, the Aztec empire began growing into the greatest and most powerful tribe in Mexico. The Emperor who led them after Tenoch was Moctezuma II and it has also who led them to their downfall when the Spanish got to Tenochtitlan.

The Aztec people are strong and resourceful people when it comes to survival. They have been in a lot of wars but they still survive over all. It all ended with their leader Cuauhtémoc he was hung by Spaniards in 1525. Before Cuauhtémoc there was Montezuma II Motecuhzoma Xocoyoti the ninth Tlatoani of Tenochtitlan Ruler of the Aztec Triple Alliance.

The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican culture that was founded in Central Mexico. They lasted over 2 centuries from 1300-1521. The Aztecs built cities such as Tenochtitlan, it was founded 1325. The Aztec Empire ended in 1521 due to an Earthquake that caused Lake Texcoco to flood their bigger cities such as Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs believed it was a warning for the Fall of The Aztec Empire. In 1519 Hernando Cortes came to the East Coast of Mexico with spaniards,and in 1521 destroyed the Aztec Empire.

The events that occurred between the Aztecs and Spanish Conquistadors have many sides and opportunities for debate. One of the most debated topics being; Who was more savage and who was more Civil? Both the Aztecs and Spanish had powerful and thriving empires. These empires displayed their dominance through their advanced technology and flourishing military. Though it may seem that the Spanish were more advanced than the Aztecs, the Aztecs and Spanish were actually quite close to being equal in technological advancements.

Once there was a small part of spain that influenced around that world it spread. The aztecs were not the first impressive. The honors would go to the olmecs or the mayans. This is the greatest. Aztecs formed an alliance with three major cities in mexico. 1430 about 89 years before cortez there were about a class full of powerful priest. Aztecs had a mountain of silver.

The Aztec arrived in Mexico sometime in the 1200’s A.D. historians believe they “embellished their history in an attempt to justify their standing and emphasize their links to Toltec lore.” They did not begin their empire until about 1325 A.D. The Aztecs would expand and build their empire until Hernan Cortes arrived in 1517. For nearly 200 years the Aztec were in power and over that 192 years they were able to build their empire to 5 million people. The quickness in which Aztec Empire’s expanded proves it was one of the greatest empires ever.

In about the 12 century AD, the Aztecs migrated to the valley of Mexico. There they would create a settlement on an Island located on lake Texcoco. From the time of their establishing this settlement onward, the Aztecs would steadily rise to prominence. This rise was due in part to strategic planning, technological development, and trade. Though, there decline would come swiftly with the arrival the Spaniards.

Aztecs were a tribe with a lower level of development at first, but they absorb and fuse with other outstanding cultural traditions of Indian in the region that they rose rapidly. Aztec had developed agriculture and the main crops were corn, beans, squash, potatoes. Religion played an important role in the life of the Aztecs. The inhabitants believed in the immortality of the soul and Supreme domination. They adored the natural god that one of the peculiar was to use the living person for sacrifice.
