Daily life has changed so much over the years due to the technological advancements. Technology has changed many things about communication skills, entertainment, and even activities.

Technology has become a daily part in one's lives where it helps people do the simplest of tasks and allows time consuming tasks be completed in seconds. People don't have to go to a bookstore to buy books anymore since e-books made the process easier or have to wait in long lines at the DMV when people can make an appointment through their phones. Technology has helped connect people and created friendships that without technology couldn’t happen. A big way for people to connect with each other is by using social media like Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram. Facebook connects more of us to more of our friends and family than we have ever been connected before (Document 2). Every "Like, every Share, every comment is a way for us to renew on a tiny scale our connections with our friends (Document 2). In today’s American society we as a nation are evolving technologically. By just a click of a button products, goods, services and information are readily available and easily accessible. However, the question a raised to how beneficial technology is and how this fast pace world affects us. Realistically, with each era the more feasible thing is to alter with the time. On the other hand, by altering ourselves to fit with the pace of society, now we need to factor in the pros and cons of this alteration.

As a Millennial and frequent user of many devices, I find that technology has drastically improved over the years, which directly correlates with the increase in its usage. Technology has become an essential piece in our generation’s functionality and therefore it is not likely to go away anytime soon. The thought of newer and better technology is usually appealing to the average consumer for obvious reasons; better entertainment, research and medical advances, etc. However, our progress as a society does not depend on technology, rather to some extent, it inhibits our ability to grow mentally.

I have been alive long enough to observe some of the changes taking place. We grew up in the age of transition. Our childhood previously consisting of jumping rope, going outside, and playing in playgrounds quickly changed into something more technological. We watched handwritten letters became electronic, film became digital, a huge corded phones become small computers in our pockets. Now we are becoming dependent on these new technologies.

According to Moore’s Law, computer processing speed doubles exponentially every single year. Being 32 times faster than the current speed after five years, and 1024 times faster than the current speed after 10 years. Due to smart phones and apps some of these tasks can be done with just the click of a button, making life move more swiftly. For instance, some grocery stores now offer online grocery shopping.
