Although the task force does effectively address the problem of substance abuse and addictive disorders, it does not effectively address co-occurring disorders. Early on in the text, a co-occurring disorder is defined as an individual who has a substance abuse disorder and a mental disorder at the same time. The task force mainly focuses on substance abuse. There are elements that are present in the treatment such as release prevention, engagement, and persuasion. The task force provides a number of interventions strategies address problems with substance use.

I do think the funds are being sent to the right places. Various places are receiving funds to bring awareness and prevent substance abuse and overdose. Prevention includes media campaigns, print materials, and training programs. For individuals who need help with their recovery, funds are being placed for case management services, support group meetings, activities, and recovery educations for high school age youth. The department personnel are working to provide structured environments for individuals to fully benefit from the services provided. I live and was raised in Dedham, so I wanted to look at the town's statistics. The total number of overdoses from opioids in Dedham from 2000-2012 is 26. I calculated the average for all the rates of the cities/towns. The average is 22 unintentional opioid overdose deaths in the 12-year span. There were about 26 other towns that were in the 20-30 range of opioid overdoses. Dedham is above the average rate of opioid overdose. I am not familiar with the towns that have similar rates as Dedham. There are very few towns that have the same rate as
