Everyone is well aware of gangs and gang violence. Street gangs differ from organized crime such as mobs and mafias. Street gangs commit a lot more senseless crimes without reason. A murder can take place for something as simple as stepping on ones shoe or looking at someone a certain way. All taken as signs of disrespect in the gang world; even the insane acts of what’s known as “initiation week” where many random murders take place. In a lot of gangs this process is done to show that an individual has the “heart” to take a life, no matter whose.
In this list I will be revealing some of the world’s most notorious street gangs gruesome and shockingly disturbing murders. To not only other gang members but also to those who just happen to be

Killing innocent bystanders, rape, drive by etc… A specific gang in Michoacan, Mexico goes a little more in depth to weed out those who are not truly loyal or frauds. The main gangs that operate out of Michoacan are known as La Familia Michoacan and the Knights Templar Cartel. In 2014 a Mexican gang would have fellow members perform macabre rituals and initiations (LINK 5). These members were instructed to do acts such as the dismemberment of people they intended to kill, or the feeding of a victim’s heart to root out moles or test member’s …show more content…
Mexico is no stranger to brutal violence and gang activity, in just the same weekend of this event alone 16 people were murdered. The news that made headlines about this one in particular death brought a lot of awareness that something needs to change.
In Pinotepas Nacional, a family was walking out of a convenience store when they were gunned down by a drive-by. The Oaxaca state attorney general said that it appeared to be drug gang rivals from a neighboring state who were the ones to track them down and kill them. The parents father Juan Alberto Pano Ramos 24, and mother Alba Isabel Colón 17, were drug dealers working for someone named Gonzáles. This drug gang rival ultimately led to the demise of the two parents and their 7-month-old son Marcos Miguel Pano Colón lying face down in his father’s arm.
A BABIES FINAL NAP
As mentioned before, anyone can be victims of gang retaliation. Bullets have no names and anyone being at the wrong place at the wrong time can fall victim to a
Gang incitation’s and gun violence are highest among African American youth. One study reported that African-Americans, future and current gang members, are most likely to own a gun. Gang-related homicides increased with the use of firearms, gang activities becoming more violent to include drug-related activities. Many of these young kids are often striving for respect from there fellow gang members and rivals so they are the ones often comminuting the crimes. They want to pay their tribute to the OG (original gangster) the problem with this is that at such a young age they don’t know how to react to a certain situation so they try to resolve everything with gun
Gangs have been a growing issue across the United States for many decades now. Youth gang violence may have started around the ‘50s, but did not become a serious issue until the ‘80s and from there went through a downward spiral in some cities like downtown Los Angeles, which was where the notorious Bloods and Crips gangs both started. First, let’s simply define a gang as a group of people, mostly men ranging for ages 14-30, who claim territory and use it to make money for themselves and their neighborhood through illegal activities such as trafficking drugs and weapons. There are many reasons and components that are factored in when conducting research to hypothesize “why do people join gangs?” That is why it is necessary to compare and contrast all the social, biological, psychological, developmental, and substance abuse aspects and relate it to joining a gang. It is also important to touch base on the differences between males and females that join gangs, such as power differentials, social learning differences and social stratification differences.
Instead of trying their hardest to make an honest living for them and their families – which I was surprised to find out that they do indeed have – they fight, kill, vandalize land, take on treacherous missions from the gang, instill fear in others, steal, claim “turf,” and harass people to survive. They do not treat women any differently, as shown in the video when the woman told some of the gang’s secrets to police and was later assassinated by her friends still in the gang, and they clearly do not care about the safety of children because they recruit them at a young age to join the gang and then literally beat them into it. They do not abide by the laws of the government, but they instead make up their own rules, and when the police lock them up for not following the law, they take the time in prison to make stronger connections and learn new skills that will make them more valuable to the gang. Being in prison is not a bad thing for gang members – it is a sign of strength and resilience and going there actually gives you higher prestige among the gang. However, one odd sign of humanity among all the violence is the gang’s way to honor their fallen members. Although it is still vandalism, when a gang member dies, his comrades spray paint a simplistic mural in his honor, often depicting a gravestone. For a gang that seems so
No matter the anger you hold inside taking someone else’s life is never justified. In “Blocking the Transmissions of Violence” they work with the whispers on the streets to keep up with what is going on in the gangs. So many members of the gangs are raised to hate the members of another gang. They are raised to believe that killing is the answer to fixing the problem, a problem that may not even be their problem. Many are raised to hate a person for a wrong that they did to their parents in the past and are misguided to believe that that person deserves death for their wrong doing. The gangs are created around disputes such as these, causing miscommunications and misunderstandings to take place. Reasons such as these are why I believe that taking someone else’s life is never the answer, their life is not yours to take from them. The reasons you have behind it are never justified, and are more often than not,
Gang involvement and its associated violent crime have become a rapidly growing problem for the United States. Generally, gangs consist of young people of the same ethnic, racial, and economic background. Usually of a low socio-economic status, these gangs engage in illegal money making activities and intimidate their neighborhoods and rival gangs with violent crimes and victimization. Gang members exemplify a high value for group loyalty and sacrifice.
Gang crime is one of the most intriguing social phenomena’s across the world, as defining the deviancy has been difficult due to a broad range of definitions (Wood & Alleyne, 2010, pg. 101). One definition is given by David Curry and
Individuals who are affiliated with gangs commit crimes such as homicide consistently. Gangs target areas where people are not unified and would be less likely to contact authorities if violence broke out. Drive by shootings occur so often that Detective Dale Wallis says “they [gangs] do not care who’s going to get shot” (qtd. in Minty 1). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did a report to determine the top five United States cities to have high levels of gang homicide. Those five cities were Los Angeles, California; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Long Beach, California; Oakland, California, and Newark, New Jersey. The study
The people who are most affected by this are usually always the most innocent. Enemy gangs usually do drive-by’s which are meant to kill an enemy gang usually end up killing innocent pedestrians walking down the street. Business owners are also being involved by this. Gangs usually use abandoned houses or businesses as a way to mark their turf. They also graffiti on business walls which lead to a loss in customers which lead to a loss in money for the business which leads to the business shutting down leaving yet another abandoned house for the gang. Most gangs also break into houses at night and steal from the home residents often killing them or robbing them of all their prized possessions. They are also almost always involved in gang wars where they kill enemy gang members so that they can gain more turf. Gangs also usually smuggle immigrants through
Gangs and Organized Crime in the United States is on the rise. With the increase in turf wars, position and the financial gains, gang wars and Organized Crime are linked together in many ways. Within this paper, I will show how they are all tied together in. The M-13’s are the largest reported gang controlling large areas of our states. However, the largest area to which the MS-13’s control is within our own capital, Washington D.C. Their leaders rule all the gangs from inside El Salvador. I will discuss other gangs, and their ties into Organized Crime.
Gang violence is a serious problem in America today, and it is also prevalent in the other countries in the world. “According to a national gang survey, the most recent estimate
Gangs are very dangerous to everyone in society. “Gangs are groups of people (mostly young males) who band together for protection and a sense of belonging. The U.S. Department of Justice officially defines a youth gang as a group of young people involved in criminal activity” (Gangs 1). There are about one million gang members in more than 20,00 criminally active gangs in the United States. Also, that group of about one million people, are accountable for up to eighty percent of our nation’s crimes. Since 2005, gangs have nationally added about 200,000 members (Targeting Gangs 1). This is why more action from the community needs to be taken to help with the growing gang-related crimes here in America.
Gangs are becoming prevalent in today’s society and within our schools. More and more young people are turning to gangs in an attempt to escape their everyday lives and the future, which they perceive as dismal and bleak. They are initially attracted to the prestige and cash flow, which is glamorized by the street gang. Many gangs are actively involved in criminal misconduct, such as drug and gun trafficking, burglaries and homicides. However, street gangs are not just a criminal justice issue, but a social problem, which is triggered by poverty, peer pressure, boredom, despair and lacking a sense of belonging.
Gang and gang violence has always been an ongoing problem within the country. Street gangs have evolved into some of the most notorious group associated with murders and killings that law enforcement agencies have encountered. Gang violence has become one of the most serious crime problem happening in the country that involves physical assaults, drive-by shootings, homicides, robberies, prostitutions, and home-invasion along with a long list of criminal activities. It had occurred and multiplied so fast in which it reach an all-time high epidemic of young gang people killed on the streets or entering into the juvenile and prison system throughout the country. Such death occurs on a daily basis especially in the inner cities that are
Street gangs in this country can probably be traced back to the first wave of Europeans who migrated to the colonies for a better life for themselves and their families. Many of the first gangs were formed as a means of self protection, with the thinking that there is simply strength in numbers. The missions of gangs in today’s society have grown and emerged to include many violent criminal avenues, including drug trafficking, prostitution, money laundering, and extortion but the original thinking that there is strength in numbers remains true. Criminology experts believe that the number of teens involved in gangs or gang activity may be as high as 1 in every 5 people in most urban areas. Those number jump to 1 in every 3 people in
Abstract: This review studies in depth research done on street gangs. Social issues have social scientists turning away from including this in their research around this time. Sociological views have been changed dramatically in the past 40 years due to gender and racial studies. Also, women have started to join gangs since America has been changed with woman equality laws passing.
