Solar Energy Dbq

Decent Essays

Ever since humans have inhabited earth, we have been using resources to create energy, for example coal. We burn coal to create energy that we use for our own personal reasons. As humans we don’t care for the negatives of burning coal, until its starts impacting our personal lives, but the reality is coal creates a highly pollutive byproduct. Humans have discovered that the sun is a great and appendant source of energy, it's called solar energy. Solar panels were created to accumulate the power of the sun and store it for whatever needs energy. Source A explains, “A solar panel works by allowing photons, or particles of light, to knock electrons free from atoms, generating a flow of electricity.” Knowing this new information, it is possible that solar energy will save us. …show more content…

Solar panels can be placed anywhere, they vary in size for perfect placement. On the other hand, solar panels are highly costly and cause much maintenance and 2 installation fees. According to Source B, it costs anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000 to install solar panels on the average American home. The production of solar panels produces large amounts of greenhouse gases, explains Source B. This means that the production of solar panels could possibly give off more pollution than burning fossil fuels. This could possibly defeat the purpose of a pollution free device, but creates pollution in the making. Yet, solar panels are reusable and last very long, which could possible create much more energy that would cover it’s creation and more. Solar energy can save us. Solar energy can reduce pollution by burning fuels in extoridant amounts. Solar energy production does not require fossil fuels and is therefore less dependent on this limited and expensive natural resource, also, solar energy is very abundant and not expensive at all after its creation and installation costs. Solar energy can very well be the world’s next main source of energy without creating much
