Social Media is a website and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. In other words, we can say that Social media is a term used to define the interaction between groups and individuals in which they share, talk and exchange ideas. Most people in today 's society are familiar with the term "Black Lives Matter". From magazine articles, to social media websites, classrooms, boardrooms, grocery stores and the like, Black Lives Matter is an issue that in recent years has refused to be shoved into closets waiting in hiding. It is an issue that has risen in prominence accompanied by angry marginalized people who continue to seek justice and solace. It is not the same movement that happened during the 1950s and 1960s with nonviolent protests and sit-ins at restaurant counters. It is instead a movement created upon a social media platform that has taken the stage to become a household name. It is on the forefront of race related issues amongst other things. While some regard it as terrorist group of black conspirators who are out to murder all white people in cold blood, others simply believe that it racist towards white people because all lives matter, not just black ones. Like a contest, many will voice their opinion, but few will actually decide to do research. People are quick to point out negative aspects regarding the group without actually trying to understand the change they are working towards as well as the reasoning behind the organization in the first place. SnapChat is a photo messaging application (App) developed by Evan Spiegel and Robert Murphy. Both of the founders were Stanford students. The application was initially developed for a project at Stanford. This app allows the user to share photos, videos, add text/drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. Users have the benefit of setting a time limit for how long the recipient can view their snaps (Ranging from 1 - 10 seconds), after which the photos/videos will be hidden from the recipient’s device and deleted from SnapChat’s servers. The smalltime college project developed into a huge social media success due to its innovative feature (Magid, 2013).

With the explosion of social media and internet related activities, there has been a sudden increase in cyberbullying cases. Over the years, cyberbullying—which has often been linked “to harassing text messages, rumors spread online or through social media websites, and derogatory comments about someone on social media sites” (Stockdale, Coyne, Nelson, & Erickson, 2015)--has grown tremendously, accounting for nearly “42% of kids” (Laird, 2012). Despite cyberbullying being a widely-known issue that is prevalent in all levels of society, not everyone is aware of the main factor influencing cyberbullying—personality. By identifying the personalities behind the cyberbullying cases, individuals will become more successful in reducing the amount of cyberbullying cases.

A CMO survey has proven that 90% of young adults (ages 18-29) use social media, such media consumption habits are unlikely to change over time. Considering the great and far-reaching impact of social media marketing, proper regulations should be applied in order to avoid any mistake or negative comment that could have a devastating impact on a business. Having a social media policy will enable the company to regulate social media activities in order to minimize errors that can undermine the company’s reputation which can affect the profitability. Throughout this essay, I will argue the main reasons why it is highly crucial to enforce social media policies in businesses. Various examples of companies that have successfully implemented such policies will be also be mentioned throughout the paper along with companies that failed to implement such techniques; proving that implementing a social media policy is essential for every business entity.

Social media is an ever-growing and changing digital media that both individuals and marketing departments of companies use.
Social media sites, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram, provide opportunities for people to connect with each other and have become exceedingly popular in recent years. However, there are increased numbers of mental health problems such as mood problems, emotional issues, and addiction in teenagers as they overuse social media. Advocates of social media may claim that social networking platforms benefit adolescents by increasing connectivity, helping people make friends, and giving young adults a sense of belonging. However, they overestimate the benefits of new technology and lack of consideration on the dangerous influence it has. In fact, social media generates addiction, causes feeling of inferiority, and promotes bullying that trigger bad moods and unhealthy emotion which endanger teenagers’ mental health.
