For centuries women have faced inequalities of all types. They faced social, economic, and political injustices. There have been many instances through the years of women speaking up for their rights, particularly in modern times. They have organized conventions, participated in parades, and put themselves and their voices out there. Despite the overwhelming opposition, they kept at it and slowly worked to gain more and more rights. Though they have gained some, many believe they do not have all that is due to them. Politically women have equal rights, while socially and economically women are not.
Women have faced social inequalities for centuries and are constantly fighting for a part in the discussion. Women were seen as servants to men, and this role was not questioned until the 1830’s and 1840’s. They were to provide and raise the children for their husbands. They were also to keep the home and keep them happy while home. Often when trouble arose in a marriage, the burden was placed on the woman to bear (Women's Roles). In the early 1800’s women began to work to slowly change that attitude. For years women have faced the persecution of their voices. Sometimes women spoke against their husbands. They said that they had been abused, and when they said this, the statement was turned against them, and they took the blame. The women claimed that men have worked to lessen the women’s self-respect and to have women to lead a dependent life.(Mott) Men ran the family most, if
