Have you ever imagined a life without sexual intercourse? Technically speaking there would be no human life in the first place without sex. The famous psychiatrist Sigmund Freud declared sexual intercourse as one of the necessities in life after eating and drinking. As a predisposition from our process of human evolution it isnt so much of a surprise that we get a lot of pleasure out of sexual intercourse, pleasure which can be intensified, due greatly to the biological chemistry that takes place in the human body. Depending on the individual, sexual behavior varies. The purpose of this research study is to analyze the sexual behavior of teens and young adults in Kosovo. Moreover, we want to find out how Kosovo’s youth compares to …show more content…
We hypothesize the sexual behavior among teenagers in Kosovo to vary greatly from countries like the U.S., mainly because of the differences in culture, religion and education. Based on our results we might be able to support our hypothesis or be completely surprised with the results.

Sexual behavior is a significant part of a human’s life that differs between people. According to Myers (2011) there are biological, psychological, and social-cultural factors that play a role in the sexual behavior of humans. Things such as sexual development serve as the basis in order to be able to have sex. Biological influences are those such as sexual maturity, sexual orientation, and hormones such as testosterone. Psychological influences are impacted by such biological factors along with exposure to stimulating conditions. Social-cultural influences include family and society values, religious and personal values, cultural expectations, along with media (p. 360).
Sexual development is one of the most important facets of the whole human development process. Sexuality strongly affects physical traits and overall physical wellbeing, mental development, motivation, behavior etc. Human sexual development can be divided into biological and psychosexual development. Biological development is concerned with physical changes regarding sexuality whilst psychosexual development has to do with
Human sexuality can be fascinating, complex, contradictory, and sometimes frustrating. Sexuality is interwoven into every aspect of being human; therefore, having knowledge about sex is as essential as having education about human anatomy. However, it is highly recommended to pay close attention when sex education is delivered to youths. (Donatelle 171)
Sex. It is everywhere. We see in television shows. In magazines. On the Internet. But sex is still seen as a taboo subject in our society. I believe that being educated about sexuality is vitally important to one health. Understanding one’s body and how it impacts your life. To understand how your beliefs about sexuality and sex have developed one needs to look back over the years and how your beliefs were engrained in your life. This essay will be based on my reflection by looking back on my sexual history on how and what have significantly impacted my development of sexuality. The focus will be on my reflection of answering the sexual history questions and how I have changed and developed over the years. It is important to analyze and reflect to understand how I came to be today, that the past has created my ideas and beliefs about sex and sexuality that have shaped me.
Human sexuality is a common phrase for all, and anything, pertaining to the feelings and behaviors of sex for the human race. Sexuality has been a topic that has been discussed and studied for as far back as 1000 years B.C. and is still being studied today. As the discussion of sexuality has progressed through history, theories have been created based on research and experiments that scholars have implemented, based on their own perceptions of human behavior. Out of the many theories that pose to explain sexual behavior, Sexuality Now explained ten that are seemed to be the most overlapped, and built off of theories. Of these theories, two that were discussed in the text were the behavioral and sociological theory. These two theories cover some of the basic ideas of what could possibly influence a person’s sexuality.
According to Macionis (2012), the term sex “refers to activity that leads to sexual gratification” (p. 178). Sexual activity is guided by culture (Macionis, 2012). In other words, its practices and attitudes vary by region (Macionis, 2012). Although the historical norm for sex has been between adult partners, sexual practices and attitudes has changed over the years to include hooking up, which has emerged as a pattern among society in the United States, but can caused problems in today’s culture.
“A 2011 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey indicates that more than 47 percent of all high school students say they have had sex; and 15 percent of high school students have had sex with four or more partners during their lifetime,” (NCSL). In our society today sex is a very open subject and is being observed by young adults in everyday life. Walking down the street we see half naked women plastered on billboards and street signs, leaving nothing to the imagination and making adolescents everywhere question why and wonder what that is. As children we are taught that abstinence before marriage is the right way to live, and engaging in such
Sexuality is an intrinsic part of being a human being. Hence, it follows that as we grow sexual development is normal and for most a point of curiosity. In an age where even a curious five year old could ask the internet where babies come from instead of asking their parents, it is becoming increasingly evident sexual education is a necessity for the sexual health of America’s youth. Sexual education is an important class that should be integrated into the public school system in order to prevent the problems of teen pregnancy and STDs such as HIV. The CDC reports that in 2015 about 230,000 babies were born to teen girls aged 15-19 and that nearly half of the 20 million new STD cases reported in 2015 were among young adults between the ages
Adolescence is a critical period of development in all areas of life including sexuality. Negligence towards this stage causes many sexual questions, conflicts and crisis to arise. The reports regarding teenage pregnancies and HIV/AIDS in Canada during the 1970’s serve as an illustration. From that moment on the growing number of sexually active youth was seen as a threat to sexual health in Canada. As a result, it encouraged school systems to institute a form of sexuality education to enhance awareness and knowledge around this issue. However, in today's society, individuals are divided by Restrictive and Permissive sexual ideologies. Proponents of Restrictive sexual ideology believe sexual behaviour should be controlled and limited to parents
Sexual education teaches adolescents about the use of birth control, their bodies, STD’s, and pregnancy. Due to the awareness of sexual education, adolescents are more careful about sexual intercourse. The pregnancy rate has reached the lowest in modern era between 1990-2010. It declined to 51% pregnancies per 1000 females ages 14-19 to 57.4%. This is the lowest recorded since 1973. Sexual education was not offered in schools until 1983 and many people had close to no knowledge about the options. Even though teens today are aware of their options today, they do not take proper precautions.
Sexuality is a fundamental aspect of being human all through life and includes gender identities, sex, and sexual orientation, roles, eroticism, intimacy, pleasure, and reproduction (Chapman, 2008). Sexuality is expressed and experienced in thoughts, ideas, fantasies, desires, manners, values, behaviors, roles, relationships and practices. Though sexuality can encompass all of these aspects, not all of them are for all time experienced or demonstrated (Hunter, 1992). It is influenced by the interface of biological, social, political, psychological, ethical, economic, cultural, historical, legal, spiritual and religious factors (Simoni & Walters, 2001). There
229). This is time that he will become more aware of his own sexuality and sexual orientation. It is important for him to understand that his testosterone level will influence him to want to engage in intercourse, masturbation and feel ¨turned on¨ (Hyde, pg. 229). By discussing with them that these are unavoidable body changes that happened to all males I can educate them about hormones, social influences and masculinity scripts that are portrayed in society and mass media. The purpose of having these conversations is to build a strong foundation of sexual health awareness before engaging in risky sexual intercourse before one is ready to. In these conversations I will also acknowledge our Christian religion and supporting discussion that bring values and morals into the conversation of sexuality and respecting one self and
Proffering an acceptable answer to the question about sexual identity makes more sense by defining and explaining what exactly sexuality is. It is broadly defined as the summation of a person's sexual interests, behaviors and tendencies. It is can also be defined as one's responsiveness to sexual attractions. These sexual behaviors may live with such person through out such person's lifetime. Moreover, some commentators have defined it as the summation of one's feelings about the person's femininity or masculinity with the consciousness of one's self image in relation to interacting with others. Sexuality has a direct relation with the way one feels. Few of the determinants for sexuality are genetic factors, parental influence, influence of siblings and friends, societal influence and particularly how one feels about oneself.
In this article, the authors Amy Burdette and Terrence Hill used data from the National Survey of Youth and Religion from the years 2002 and 2005, which is a national prospect test of approximately three thousand, two hundred and ninety young teenagers ranging from the tender age of thirteen up to the age of seventeen. However, the authors tested to see if the adolescents were involved in religious activities, such as going to church on a regular basis, religious salience, private religiosity, as well as family religiosity, were involved in any form of sexual activities. However, they found out that these young teenagers were not sexual active and they do not participate in any action that pertains to sexual actions or sexual intercourse, for example touching sexually, oral sex, as well as sexual intercourse. The authors also contemplate if the rate of these young adolescents not being involved in sexual intercourse is because of how old they are, their sex or whether it is because of their race or ethnicity.
The attitude of the government in dealing with free sex needs people’s attention, because without intervention from both of them, we won’t reach what we wanted. Because people, especially teenagers still in renewal misinterpreted freedom. Therefore, many young people who fall into things that are not desirable, and most of them influenced from the outside environment that damage the young generation because of his passion to get along even though they're going the wrong way. Therefore, the teens should have a lot of guidance from teachers and parents. Due to modern era, adolescents are easily influenced by new things without knowing the risks. Nowadays many young people fall into free sex,
Since birth human behaviour is influenced by what the individual sees and there surroundings, this influence is greatest at a young age and fades as the individual grows in age, but never completely goes away. In today’s society where sex is something that is openly broadcasted in order to promote everything from products to television shows, sex is something that the youth of today are exposed to from an early age. But what effects can this exposure at such a vulnerable stage in life cause? Early exposure to sexual content can increase the likeliness of youth participating in sexual activity by the large amount that they are exposed too, the glorification of sex, the lack of regulation of sexual content in the media by the government, and
Over many years, the views of premarital sex have been becoming increasingly more tolerant. The whole reasoning behind why sex was created is lost in the minds of society and used for pleasure and own physical satisfaction. There are negative consequences for these actions leading to guilt, depression, and numbness to intimate relationships. Having strong parental influence can also strongly affect the outcomes of adolescence and causal sex. Additionally, marriage can be
