It was a same old boring Monday. When I heard my phone ring so I picked it up. It was my friend Jonathan when he told me I should run for class president. Then that is when I told him “I wasn't ready for that challenge it was a big responsibility”. At the time i thought to myself “I could make a good president but what if I got nervous and forgot my speech”.
The next day I went to the the school office when I told them I would like to run for president that was then when I told her “where can I sign up”, when she pointed to a big line starting from the office and ending at the cafeteria. It was a five minute walk all the way to the cafeteria ,but I finally reached the line. By the time I got there the bell rang ding ding ding ding!!! As everyone started heading towards their classroom.I finally signed up and when i got on stage i started practicing my speech. In fact i even got to add in more facts why i should be president.
By the time i was finished Jonathan came barging through the stage and telling me “good luck” as he sat down then Dikari came barging through and tells me the same thing. All of a sudden the Principal Mr. Nava tells Dikari if he could be in charge of the microphone and make sure everything was working so Dikari

I would like to get a starbucks store at our school because in our classrooms there are kids that sleep during our class room time well not for any longer will we have to face that problem if there is a starbucks the kids wouldn't be sleepy. The teachers will teach happily without any interruptions. Also if we get starbucks teachers wouldn't have to go all the way to the store just to get a coffee. How do i know this? I know because every afternoon i see teachers with coffees at our school. Well with this teachers won't have to waste money for gas any longer if we have starbucks heer at Planada Elementary school. As i also tell them that it will include low caffeine 2% of it
Aryan Rijal GOVT 2306 Professor Sharifian 02 November 2017 Cost to run for Office in Texas Running an office is not that easy and one who is running office must spend a lot of money for it. During the time of elections, one spends more money to get the votes. At the time of campaigns lots of money are spending to get one’s vote and get victory. Each vote counts important to candidate, so he/she spends as money as they can and want to get every possible vote in their favor. But spending a lot of money doesn’t ensure one’s victory. Looking to the last year’s election statistics of The Texas Tribune, Clinton spent more money than Trump during the time of election, but she didn’t win the election.
Mohan Karki Prof. Sherry Sharifian Govt 2306 30 Oct. 2017 Running for Texas State Senate Texas is divided into many city, county, districts where a person, who is resident for at least 1 years and citizen of United States can run for the office. There are different offices like United State Representative, Railroad Commissioner, Texas Governor, Texas State Senate, District Judge and so on in Texas. To run for this kind of organization a person should spend a hundred of dollars to promote and other activities. A report from the Texas Tribune shows that Kenneth Sheets, Texas House representative spend $548,844.71 and it cost $20.32 per vote (Essig). 1 This is just one example of how much it can cost to run for one office. Thus, I
There are many fulfilling careers that would fit accordingly in my life, but politics has never come across my mind. Even though politics and government duties affect my everyday life, I have not pursued that career path thus far. However, what if I were to come across the opportunity to run for either a Texas House Representative member for Senate of Texas? To start off, both positions deal with endless amounts of legislature responsibilities and stress, but I would most likely pursue to be a member of the Texas House of Representatives. The first obvious reason would be the qualifications; one must be 21 years of
“Finally, let understand that when we stand together, we will always win. When men and women stand together for justice, we win. When black, white and Hispanic people stand together for justice, we win” (Sanders).
As we know, 2008 is the big year for everyone in the United States. The presidential election in 2008 was the most racially diverse in U.S. history, there were almost one-in-four votes cast by non-whites. The presidential election in 2008 bring the surprise result for all of the people in U.S. Barack Obama became the first African-American elected president of the United States, and Joe Biden became the first Roman Catholic elected vice president. I think the record of voter participation in 2008 U.S presidential election is the anomaly. Obama won a decisive victory over McCain, He was winning in both the electoral college and the popular vote, with 365 electoral votes to McCain's 173; There was the largest percentage of popular vote for the Democrat since B.Johnson in 1964. Obama's win in obtaining a major party's
President-elect Donald Trump shocked the nation in October when a video from 2005 surfaced in which he repeatedly made vulgar comments about women. The presidential hopeful can be heard sexualizing women, using a host of four-letter words, and perhaps most notably, bragging about sexual assault. Indeed, the portion of the video gaining the most traction in the media included Trump saying “when you’re a star … you can do anything” including “[g]rab ‘em by the pussy.”
The United States presidential election of 2012 is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, 2012. It will be the “57th quadrennial presidential election, in which presidential electors, who will elect the President and Vice President of the United States on December 17, 2012"(2012 Presidential”). Incumbent President Barack Obama is running for a final term during this election. Who will be more than likely running against Obama is Mitt Romney? There are several candidate issues to consider when deciding whom to vote for in the upcoming presidential election such as health care, and the economy. There are radical differences between the candidates concerning healthcare and the economy. People need to think long
“The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses” (Malcolm X). In 1797, there was no cameras, television, radio, telephones, or social media. There was not any entertainment value on campaigns the media could potentially exploit, but how could the American citizens formulate opinions on presidential candidates? How did they come to understand about their policies or stances on certain issues? Candidates would write to columns in newspaper or use printing presses to release booklets with their policies and other issues they had to address. They would talk to the public at meetings or conventions. Journalists would write down what they said and wrote a news article about it. They did not mask themselves with over exaggerated personas or make outrageous statements just to gather media attention because there was not the
Being a president of the United States of America isn’t easy, it takes a special kind of person, someone tough, smart, and driven, just to run for the job. It even takes talent and character to hold up the pressures of life in the White House. So when someone decides that they would like to run for president it begins with making sure they meet certain requirements, which are: you must be a born citizen of America or at least have one parent born in the US at the time. You must have been a resident in the United States for 14 years. You also must be 35 years of age or older.
It is our favorite time of year again--election time. This election season we have an amazing array of candidates, especially on the GOP side. The candidates are such great quality that some of them have never even held a political office. For example, we have a brain surgeon and a media personality running. How does being great at brain surgery and media make you fit for a presidential candidate? You tell me I am still trying to figure that one out too. However, the candidates with the least political experience are actually doing the best in the polls. One candidate that seems to be untouchable right now is GOP candidate Donald Trump. The most unorthodox, radical candidate you will probably ever meet--besides Hitler of course.
During my junior year of high school, I decided to run for senior class president for the 2016-2017 school year. After the election process (interviews, speeches, and voting), I was elected for this position. I have been apart of student council since I was in seventh grade and I have always been extremely passionate about it. Student Council to me means serving others in your school and community and I can say that I thoroughly enjoy doing that. I wanted to be senior class president because I knew I had the drive, ambition, and work ethic it would take to get things done. As president, I have to make major decisions that have to do with graduation and the senior class as a whole. I wanted to lead and represent the class of 2017 at Durant High
The process of selecting presidential candidates has always been a long one that starts with a hot summer in Iowa and New Hampshire where the candidates of the parties appeal to early primary voters and delegates. It is a democratic process that is not seated, but is instead open to different members of the party and different special interest groups with their own agendas and goals. The final part of this grueling process – vote both candidates and voters – is for the party to finally get enough delegates for nomination at the summer convection a few months before the November election.
With my friends, teachers, and advisors by my side, I pushed myself beyond my comfort zones. I asked them for their opinions of my campaign materials, allowed them critique my speech, and cherished their opinions to improve. Yes, I was still scared running again; however this time I had my friends, those who care about me, with me every step of the way. Now I am proud to say that I am the Texas TSA State Reporter, not only because I was voted into office by the state delegation, but because I was willing to learn from my mistakes and never gave up on my
In the movie “The Candidate” I thought that the film was very interesting to me, being a person that has never been interested in politics. I found it interesting even though I am not for sure if this is the way that campaigns are run now. I thought it was nice to see how some candidates may be chosen, especially in this film because he was not expected to win the election. He was not even interested in politics although his father was once governor. The film showed how the campaign was ran and managed by his advisors. Although not expected to win the election, he somehow
One day, it was announced that our class would be having a go at electing a class president since we had just converted from an imperialist monarchy to a democratic republic. Now, this was an interesting scenario: the class had just gotten in big trouble for starting a massive food fight in the cafeteria, and the teacher
