Persuasive Essay: Love Upon First Sight as an Inaccessibility and Great Intricacy of Foible as Demonstrated by Romeo and Juliet Although the classic Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet depicts love at first sight between the two titular protagonists, such is not truly attainable in its entirety. Mainly, this is due to the nature of true love, which requires more than what can be obtained upon first sight, or even over the course of a few days, as in the case of Romeo and Juliet, where it is illustrated that the protagonists are so deeply in love with each other that they consider their romance to be of a higher priority than their own lives; that they had been willing to sacrifice themselves for their lover. At the forefront, bidirectional, withstanding love demands more than what can reasonably be inferred from one or a few encounters with a person: it requires that both are well-versed in the other’s morals, character, and values, will support each other without hesitation in dire situations, and will demonstrate extensive reverence and admiration towards the other party. All knowledge of these characteristics is only attained in lengthier periods of time, and in more intense connection. Secondly, even if one wholly realizes that they love another for who they fundamentally are, it may still be ambiguous whether they wish to marry, or otherwise establish a lifelong romantic bond. Finally, in contrast to the reasonable, yet flawed, counterargument that one may fall in love and consider themselves inseparable with someone matching one’s ideal visions of a soulmate or permanent partner, external circumstances may interfere with introspection and distort perception of the other person. This is upheld in Romeo and Juliet, where long-standing family controversy between the Capulets and the Montagues intends prevention of contact between Romeo and Juliet, with the Capulets instead opting for Juliet to marry Paris, a man whom she does not carry any special emotion or passion towards as she demonstrably does towards Romeo. Especially in the case of those involved in potential romance, interdiction fuels innate drive, and causes the lovers to experience even more thorough romantic ardor towards each other than before, or without the outside turn of events. Overall, although love at first sight seems a great plausibility, it is not fully sound, and its attempted implementation in the real world, along with its supposed manifestation in Romeo

Although he was killed by Tybalt, Mercutio is to blame for Tybalt’s death because he did not listen to Benvolio, he insisted on fighting after Romeo has backed down, and he drew his sword first.

It is the genuine belief of many that the world is limitless and all people are invincible. If a problem arises, they believe a new technology or science will simply be developed to solve it. Because of this, many people have coined the phrase “That which does not kill us, makes us stronger” which was first accredited to a German philosopher and scholar named Friedrich Nietzsche in the 1800s. Amongst these people is psychologist Dr. Mark Seery. In his 2010 study “Whatever Doesn't Kill Us: Cumulative Lifetime Adversity, Vulnerability, and Resilience,” he determined this is indeed the case. Dr. Seery claimed, “adverse experiences... foster subsequent resilience, with resulting advantages for mental health and well-being.” Despite his conclusion, and those of many other philosophers and scientists alike, author and playwright William Shakespeare appears to have a different opinion. Oh 'tis all my fault the lovers are dead, how I weep for them. Loving Romeo and sweet Juliet, can thou ever forgive me? I think not; I tore thy love apart like a lion tears flesh from a bone in my haste to cease the feud between thy families, and behold what disaster has struck because of my actions. Soon thy ghosts will haunt me as a result of my horrible sin of destroying thy love. Oh Romeo, like a son to me, my dear brave son how I miss thy witty banter and declarations of love for Juliet. Oh beautiful loving Juliet! Forgive me for failing you, thy life was in my hands, I held it and allowed it to slip through my fingers like water!
