This outcome is based on the MSN essentials III, IV, and VIII. MSN essential III focuses on quality improvement and safety. A master’s prepared nurse must be skilled in the methods, tools, performance measures, and standards associated to quality, as well as prepared to apply quality principles within an organization. Improvement in the patient safety along with diminishing and eliminating patients harm is the fundamental of quality care. Masters prepared nurses should analyze the information about quality initiatives to improve health outcomes across the continuum of care. They also need to implement evidence-based plans to improve quality and safety as well as compare and contrast several appropriate quality improvement models. MSN IV focuses on applying research outcomes within the practice setting to resolve practice problems. Professional practice in all levels should be grounded in the ethical translation of current evidence into practice. Master’s-prepared nurses are expected to lead continuous improvement processes based on translational research skills (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2017). This assignment will explore and critically evaluate the role of the registered nurse in the development of a plan of care that is patient centred. This will involve examining and critically analysing the chosen nursing model in a holistic assessment of the patient and the use of the nursing framework ASPIRE (Barrett, Wilson and Wollands, 2012).

Under the principle of universality, the standardization of nursing care across the country is important to maintain inter-professional equality and compatibility. This can be achieved by regulating nursing practice through inter-professional collaboration, communication, professional conduct, accountability and mutual respect (Benton, González-Jurado & Beneit-Montesinos, 2013). Self regulation assignment is a tool developed by College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) to promote safe, competent and ethical nursing care in Ontario. Being a certified nurse aide, I know for a fact that being a registered nurse would make for the ideal profession for people who have the passion of taking care of others, being challenging but very rewarding, as well. In this sense, nurses are meant to promote health, provide medical and emotional support to patients, as well as educate them regarding the management and care of various illnesses. As a registered nurse, my responsibilities and duties may include administering medications, monitoring patients' progress, attending to their needs, managing IV lines, and providing assistance to physicians during various medical procedures. While the job of a nurse can be extremely demanding, requiring much dedication and patience, it is also one of the most fulfilling careers there are, due to the opportunity to help people who are suffering from ailments and health conditions.

RN primary responsibilities is caring for patients, but specific job duties will vary depending on the employer and specialization. Registered nurse work with others to created programs to improve people's health, also teaches or train future nurses.They perform the function of management like planning and decision making as well as physical examinations to determine the patient's condition is in good health. The role of the Registered Nurse (RN) entails great responsibility. The nurse must protect the health, safety, and welfare of the community using his or her best clinical judgement. Nurses make up the largest workforce in the healthcare system and have the privilege to play a leading and fundamental role in the transformation and initiation of changes in the field. The use of competency of a nurse, especially the use of communication, knowledge, technical skills, clinical reasoning, emotions, values, and reflections in practice, brings quality outcomes and improvement in care delivery (Rubenfeld & Scheffer, 2015). Patient-centered care is intertwined with quality and safety; to achieve high quality and safety, nurses have to understand the complexity of the work environment and engage in strategies to improve situations. Competency and knowledge of professionals play a major role in quality improvement. Effective, safe, timely, efficient, and equitable patient-centered care to customers bring quality to the nursing profession.

Nursing responsibilities in acute care settings are vital to patient’s recovery due to the front line position nurses play as well as the wide variety of tasks carried out.
