Rhetorical Analysis Paper Introduction More often than naught protest music is often associated with war and politics and a little less with the social norms of the current society and culture. The most iconic artist that did challenge and changed the social norms was Elvis, even though at the time he was not aware of doing so. Audience Paul Simpson, who is the author of several books and articles about Elvis, pop culture, and a contributor to the website of the Australian Elvis Presley Fan Club. Not only will Elvis fans will find Simpson’s books and articles informative but also fans of music, social culture, U.S. history, will find them useful too. This includes the skeptics and critics of the Elvis craze and social change will find them informative as well. Thesis The proposal of this rhetorical analysis paper is to analyze how Simpson in his on-line article for the Australian Elvis Presley Fan Club, make use of ethos, pathos, and logos to appeal to the senses of the masses about how protest music can be subtle, but yet strong enough to challenge and change the social norms of America’s society of the fifties.
