The Revolutionary War, from April 1775 - September 3, 1783. The war of freedom, Great Britain vs the 13 colonies. But how did it happen? What were the conflicts that started the Revolutionary war? All the Acts and the colonies not wanting to be treated like children any more. This was how the Colonies became their own. The first Act was the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was passed March 22, 1765. This Act made it so that colonists had to pay tax on all types of printed paper(playing cards, newspapers, licences, etc.) and also needed a stamp on them to prove they payed it. The colonists were definitely mad, but they weren't mad about the price, they were mad about the standard it set. The Intolerable acts were a set of Acts that were set to punish the colonists and for the British to regain STRICT control over the colonists. The Intolerable Act were Acts that the colonists just could NOT telerate. The Acts part of the set were the Boston Port Act, Massachussetts Government Act, Administraition of Justice Act, and the Quebec Act, out of many. The Boston Port Act was caused from the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Port Act made it so no one could enter or exit the the harbor until all of the money spent on the tea thrown overboard was acheived. This Act revoked the charter of 1691, which then made Massachussetts a crown colony. The next Intolerable Act was the Administraition of Justice Act. The revolutionary war led to a new nation in America. The war started with the battle of Lexington and concord on April 19th, 1775. in less than 10 years conflict was brewing between the American colonies and great britian. Great Britian tried several solutions involving passing laws to try and keep the colonies in line. Americans are use to having this privilege of control over the local government. Doing the research from the ten different documents, the conclusion drew from it was that the revolutionary war was not so revolutionary. The research gotten from the documents supports this claim because as big as it was to to split away from a huge empire, not much changed. The only things that really changed was just rights and equality after years. For example, in document 3, there was someone who was not rich and they were playing pool with other rich people after the war. This just shows that some equality changed and nothing else that could be huge was like economy, or government since they just used basically the same type of government, but with different rich, white men. For many, after the dreadful seven years’ war all thought it could only get better. Britain sustained a massive debt leaving them in a hole so deep you could not see light. Britain had sought to acquire all nessary funds to help lessen the debt as much as possible, leaving the people angered, especially people from the colonies. Britain began to impose an abundance of unsanctioned taxes on them. The American colonist were infuriated with such actions, arguing that they it was not consulted. In accordance to all these events many had took it up themselves to express their opinion with action.
The Revolutionary War was not very revolutionary because even though colonists risked their lives to fight for what they believe in, ending their terrible years under British control, they haven’t freed African-American slaves nor stated women and American Indians’ rights. Although the Revolution period between the years of 1776 - 1783 had established the unity of the States to become the United States, an extremely important matter had not been dealt with by the people. In 1861, this matter was addressed in a devastating battle that lasted for over four years. This war became known as the largest and highly destructive battle between the years of 1815 and 1914. A battle that would either determine if the nation was to be based upon an independent government or a dissoluble confederation. A government that needed to determine if all men were created with an equal right to liberty. On the day of April 12th 1861, a divided nation known as the Confederacy (the South) declared the secession from the United States.
At the beginning of the war, the British was way stronger than the Americans and had more opportunities to win with its affluence resources and advanced technologies. The American Revolution arises when the British wanted to make money off of the colonists. Also by the French and Indian war leaving the British in debt, the Boston boycott imposed by merchants, and George Washington's protest, “No Taxation Without Representation”. Some goals include, ending mercantilism to mother country, people wanted a say in their government, to have a democracy, and independence. In result it was the first time a colony overthrew its mother country, Americans argued that they aren't offered the same rights. It started up new taxes and reverse salutary neglect policy, women of Boston refused to buy goods, and resolutions before Virginia House of Burgesses.
Until 1763 the British government and the colonists had peaceful relationships. The Seven Years War, known in America as the French and Indian War, was a turning point. This act gave the British control of all tea sales in the colonies. In retaliation a group of colonist disguised themselves and boarded ships carrying the British East India Company’s tea. This group proceeded to destroy 340 chest equitant to 92,000 pounds of the tea, by throwing it overboard.
