Before Restorative justice came along victims did not have a voice. They were the ones that had to cry in silence while the offenders go on with their lives. Some of the main approaches are to punish the offender or satisfy legal principles. Nowadays getting restorative Justice isn’t hard there are so many people out there that want to help. It is sort of a peaceful problem solving approach whereby the offender can, in some personal way, take responsibility for their actions. There is some conceptual ambiguity in the meaning of Restorative Justice in spite of the many definitions and studies done on the subject. Restorative Justice is defined as “an ethos with practical goals, among which to restore harm by including affected parties in a (direct or indirect) encounter and a process of understanding through voluntary and honest dialogue.” Restorative Justice is primarily concerned with the restoration of victims to life before the crime, restoration of the Offender to a law -abiding life, restoration of the damage caused by crime to the community and the creation of a better society in the present and the future.
