Remember The Titans Research Paper

The movie marathon the I have organised is with my mates on the rugby team. The movies that I have chooses are all different movies but all of them are working as a team. The purpose of the movies is so we can work as a team and that nothing with brake use apart.

The world needed change. The merger of the all white and the all black school was going to come together to create T.C. Williams High School. Nonetheless the parents, students, faculty, or even just members of the town weren’t even a little bit happy with this merger, but the desegregation of the schools was the state of Virginia’s idea to show that change was coming. Remember the Titans (2000) is a sports/drama movie released in September of 2000 that is all about the aspects of what it means to overcome racism and fight for what is right. As football practice came around and all the white and black players were introduced by calling out name and position the disgust within the room of the opposite race was definitely clear. To add to the tension in the room there was a major surprise when the white schools legendary coach, Bill Yoast, was going to be the assistant to a black coach, Herman Boone. In the beginning of the football season, the team is taken to football camp for a few weeks. There they bonded and learned to play as a team, although most of the whites still had bad vibes about playing alongside their black counterparts on the team. As the season went on, the team faced all sorts of diversity, and many different obstacles that all the other teams they played didn’t have to go through. Remember the Titans is a classic movie about one black-populated high school and one white-populated high school who are forced to integrate into one school/football team in a suburban town in Virginia in 1971. Neither races are obliging to this rash decision being enforced but there was nothing to be done about it. The 70’s were a very difficult time to be a minority especially for African Americans, which is what led to many problems and struggles not only throughout the school, but specifically within the football team. During this time of hatred and segregation, one football team at T.C. Williams High School goes through the struggle of working together with teammates belonging to a different race. Through all of the hardships taken place in the film, the team gradually learns to not define one another because of skin color.

‘Remember the Titan’s’ is a film produced in January 2000 by Jerry Bruckheimer featuring black and white schools integrating. As a result, the football teams also unified forming the titans. Although at the beginning there was tension among them, they eventually came together to form a truly worthy team. In the duration of the film, there are many instances in the film where racial barriers are broken down, and as a result both races are able to get along.

Judging a person by the way they look has been done innumerable times before. In the movie “Remember the Titans”, it shows how quickly a person can be judged, just by the way that they look. Whether a person is black, white, has long hair or short hair. Someone or something is always going to be criticized no matter how good a person is doing to fulfill the job that’s given to them. Never judge a person just by their appearance, you never really know a person unless you speak to them.

Remember the Titans is about racial harmony. In this movie it is unsure if they are cheering for racism victories or victories over the opposing team. It alternates very quickly. This movie is to show that real life is never simple to racism and this is to teach us that we are all the same even though we have different skin color. There are two school one being Alexandria and the other T.C Williams high school. The European coach is replaced by an African American coach and this causes tension to arise when different races are forced to play in a team together, but they are taken to a camp for two weeks where most of these problems are solved and the conflict between many team mates are communicated and also solved. The Titans play side by side together as a team and have a phenomenal season which brings the team and the city closer together.

Remember the Titans is a American sports movie directed by Boaz Yakin. The movie is based on a true story of Afro-American coach Herman Boone, who make an effort against racisim in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971.

The reason why I added this in is ,because it shows how much they hate each other but then it shows bonding towards the end. This movie shows how two raices come together not only on the field but also in the town to show how much can change from hate to bonding. This only happened because of the law where schools can’t segregate them and also to see if they could make it through the year together. Around 1970’s is when segregation started going down because of all the new laws and new rules especially in school. Also when they started letting colleges and high schools combine moat of the kids thought they didn’t need another until they either quit or started working together like in “Remember the Titans.” Today we aren’t as bad but this still happens at school all the time in or out of sports you’ld think we’ve learned by now but it’s not a perfect world.
