Regent Park Aquatic Center Incident

As a lifeguard, it is my personal responsibility and duty to preserve the peacefulness and protect the lives of every patron that enters the pool. This holds true especially at Baker Park (Edward P. Thomas Jr. Memorial Pool), for the pool often reached maximum capacity within an hour of opening, not including the daily two hundred children we get from day campps, such as Boys and Girls club and YMCA. While I guard the pool and perameter, it is crucial to exhibit all three qualities of Ready, Respectful, and Relentless, for anything can happen instantly which can interfere with the public safety of everyone, including myself.

The reporter stated there was an incident when Mrs. Sterling sent a 15 year old boy that Briana wanted to go to homecoming with text messages about her breast. The reporter also stated there was an incident when Mrs. Sterling dropped Briana off at a party she was not invited to because the host did not want to deal with her mother. The reporter stated Briana knew the owners of the home and she was not injured or harm while attending the party. The reporter stated Mrs. Sterling has been witnessed grabbing Briana’s hair, yelling, screaming, and threatening to hit her with a belt when she doesn’t perform her gymnastic stunts correctly. The reporter stated on 07/05/15 Ms. Smith returned to pick the children up and after they began screaming and hollering because they did not want to leave with her Mr. Course told her they could stay with him. Per the reporter, Ms. Smith became upset and pulled a knife on Mr. Course; the children were present. According to Lakendrick, Larry Franklin (Ladonna’s father) called on today (09/01/2015) and said that Ladonna was removed from the home. Ladonna was forced out of the house by Shon and she went to stay with her mother (Ruthie), and she took the children with her. It is unknown where the children were at the time of the incident. The reporter said Larry told him that he had Jacklin and asked him “could he come and get Azaria”. Ladonna told the reporter as she was leaving the home “Shon threw her out”. Caseworker Jessica, spoke with Ja’Kevion on 10/19/17, and he said that he was on punishment for 3 months because his sister did not have on panties and he was falsely accused of pulling her panties down. Reporter visited the family on 11/16/17 and mom (Marion) informed stated that Ja’Kevion was messing with his sister and brother. Mom told the reporter she went into the living room and Ja’Kevion was at the table. She had left her daughter in the room and when she went back to the room she notice the cover looked messed up and it was high. She pulled the cover back and her daughter panties and pants were pulled down. Mom asked the child why her clothes were down and she did not want to admit what happen to her.
