Policy and procedure

As a childcare practitioner it is important that I am able to recognise when a child in their early years may have a range of learning needs. To be able to understand the way I need to work with others to ensure that the learning plan that is in place for this child has a positive impact on their health, development and learning. To ensure I am offering an inclusive practice where the child is supported and feels valued and is helping them towards achieving the Five Outcomes of The Every Child Matters Framework.

Policies and procedures are created to guide staff and parents / caregivers to familiarise themselves with the service’s practices, this allows them in detail information regarding what to expect from the service. Policies should be to date documents that are regularly reviewed to ensure they are applicable to all the needs of those working in such establishments.

* Babies and young children are vulnerable and very dependent on their parents and carers. Therefore as well as provide and children’s learning and development it is also essential that we support the physical care, keep them safe and meet their nutritional needs.

Patient access to affordable health care is an ongoing issue in the United States. The principle of designing services around children and young people is to be able to meet all their needs. Every child is unique , it is important that all practitioners understand this. Firstly you need to establish what their care needs are so you are able to meet them in the correct way. This can be done by communicating with parents and other services connected with the child. If the service is meeting the individuals needs the parents/ careers should have no reason to be unhappy with the service provided and the child should remain in the setting. This example of a family’s interesting dynamics that come about can be seen in a show called, “The Fosters.” In this show, the Foster family lives in San Diego where Stef Foster and Lena Adams (in later seasons being Lena Adams-Foster) parent five children, four of them being foster children and one coming from a previous marriage.
