Plagiarism and politics Plagiarism is an act of stealing someone else’s original ideas or thoughts (either written or oral) and copying it either exactly in a same way or remixing it, without giving credit to the owner. In today’s world, Plagiarism is omnipresent. People try to imitate others watching them in TVs, movies, and songs which tend them to plagiarize knowingly or accidentally. It can be found in almost all fields like in politics, movies, music, schools, photographs, recordings, books, etc. According to the article in New Yorker (Osnos, 2014), there are mainly three reasons why politicians plagiarize. First one is lack of consequences. Many politicians might not have knowledge about what could be the punishment for plagiarizing. They think that they are superior of all and tend to plagiarize because of carelessness. Many politicians might not be so good in academics which don’t need to be and their political speeches are mostly written by their private writers. So, they are unaware of their speech written by their private writers which leads them to plagiarize without intending to do it. Unlike regular communication, political speech is best regarded for being confined in a certain boundaries rather than thinking creatively.
