Everyone knows that lying is bad. Then why is it allowed on social media? Since you are a kid you are taught to never lie. Even though everyone knows this they still lie on a daily basis using social media. About 85% of people have social media. How many people do you think are currently lying social media out of that? Social media deceives the viewers because people create fake accounts, photoshop, and spread untruthful things. Do you know what a finsta is? Well everyone who has Instagram does. A finsta is a “fake Instagram account”. Approximately 71% of teenagers have a finsta (Raimonde). Finsta’s start off as just posting funny things with you and your friends and family, until it changes. Finstas have been around for almost a year and a half and even now they are starting to change. They have turned into a place where people talk about drama or just gossip, but not only that they have become lies. People have started creating finstas pretending to be other people. It can just be a friend pulling a prank to a real problem. On finstas, people will post funny pictures of their friends, but recently they haven’t been pictures of friends and stories of their friends. There has been a big increase in hacked accounts. The main problem with social media is once it's posted it doesn’t go away and even if you delete it there are screenshots and shared posts. With all of the hacked accounts they will make up stories or pictures about a person and everyone just believes it. Furthermore, social media is untruthful through photoshop. With Photoshop there are so much more untruthful and rude things on the internet. Using photoshop people take real pictures and change them so people see things in a different way. People photoshop many different things such as pictures with their friends, a meme, and logo. Not only that photoshop is used every to politics to marketing. “Photoshop has been used since 1988 when Thomas and John Knoll came up with the idea to edit images. Ever since then it has taken over the media and graphics industry by a storm and now, after two decades of its invention, there have been debates over whether or not Photoshop has a lasting impact on society’s beauty standards.” (Raimonde) When photoshop has
Ever since I was little and did not know how to do basic things like walk, talk or solve an algebraic equation. Naturally I would get discouraged and would not try to do it again. However, my parents effortlessly raised me, had encourage me to keep going. That I would get what I wanted if I put my heart into it. I’m not spoiled like Simon sinek would say we were raised with bad parenting skills.; my parents did not argue with my teachers over a stupid grade or to force me intro honors class room.
Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, just a few of today’s most popular forms of social media. These new outlets for media have grown vastly popular, especially for teenagers. Social media is meant for networking and connecting individuals. It is amazing how social media connects billions of people across the world. However could it be doing more harm socially than good? In today’s world teens and social media are inseparable. Every teen has a smartphone and they are constantly drawn to their screens. Whether at school or at a resturaunt, teens will frequently be seen with their heads down, staring at their phones, snapchatting tweeting etc. Teens feel more comfortable sending a snapchat than carrying a conversation in person. Which is understandable since no in-person confrontation happens through social media. So while social media connects teens online, it also disconnects them from real life. That being said, although communicating through the medium of social media may seem easier, teens should spend more time communicating with people in person in order to better focus, learn people skills, and develop strong relationships with others.
Sure social media makes promotion for events super easy as it expands your reach and its much easier (and cheaper) to promote more frequently. Emerson claims that people should be able to be confident and not care what others have to say about them. His argument is viable today because social media makes humanity feel insecure in many ways. Most of our society judges or makes funny jokes of people’s appearances on social media into making them feel insecure. The bullies mostly only do it online because they know they can escape since they are behind a screen and not in front of their face. There are many crowds who are afraid to go out into the real world. According to Elite Daily, an article on insecurity, “It's easy to forget that people only post their best moments and choose to keep all their worst ones private. Your life may fall short of someone's picture perfect one, but more often than not, so does the life of whomever posted it.” Most of the population only post pictures they feel confident about and look cute. They choose to not upload or delete the worst ones they have of themselves. Elite Daily argues, that social media has made mostly everyone obsessed with making life look perfect for ourselves. Some humans around the world have a mindset of needing to look perfect in the communities. For Example, most women do their full on face makeup everyday and spend lots of time trying to find the perfect outfit to look fabulous. They still wish to have a perfect body therefore they end up assimilating plastic surgery. According to Odyssey, an article on insecurity by social media, “We feel good posting a picture on our profiles that makes us happy, but happiness only lasts as long as it takes to find yet another picture that makes us feel as though we need to do better. Everyone should post what makes them feel good, especially ones with authenticity. But I truly think what needs to change is how we focus on life as a whole.” Society should not be able to only focus on their looks but also need to focus on other important things in life too. Soon, they will take better pictures and be even happier than the last picture. When someone receive a low number of likes on their picture, they automatically know “that makes us feel as though we need to do better” and upload a cuter picture. The author of Odyssey states, he/she should be able to feel
There are always two sides of every coin. Social media is just a tool or mean for people to use. It is still up to the users on how to use this tool (just like a knife, can help you to cut food or hurt others). Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project and Elon University's Imagining the Internet Center conducted a study on "The Future of Online Socializing" from the highly engaged, diverse set
Today we live a society that is driven by the internet, social media and fame. Ads have changed dramatically; corporations are spending more money on social media every year. You are seeing kids today making money through Facebook, through Instagram, through Twitter, through Snapchat, through youtube, through Tumblr, and through twitch, and that's what the film Generation Like was talking about.
In the emerging age of technology, it is difficult to ignore the immense advantage that the Internet has to offer. It is thus without a doubt that social media is beneficial to activism due to its ability to spread information faster than ever before, and to a larger audience. A social media campaign is a beneficial resource for attracting activists to a cause because it is a useful mean for mass communication; it propagates global support (Starbird & Palen, 2012), and allows for recruit of marginal group members (Postmes & Brunsting, 2002). Specifically, social media facilitates the communication and connectivity of leaders to the grass root members, emphasizes group unity, and readily motivates the involvement of otherwise apathetic individuals (Gladwell, 2014). Although the legitimacy of this new form of activism has been doubted (Gladwell, 2014; McCafferty, 2011), it is difficult to ignore the overwhelming benefits that social networking has to offer. The valuable impact of the Internet can no longer be overlooked; instead, it should be embraced and implemented to its full potential to ensure the success activism campaigns.

The world as we know it is advancing, new technology comes out every year. No one leaves their house without some kind of communication device with them (i.e. a phone). We think that these phones are connecting us with people from across the world, when in reality; they are disconnecting us from our loved ones around us. People are so use to looking down, that they forget to look up.
Although social media has made society more connected than ever, people are also more alone than ever. An article from Forbes states, “Surprisingly, those who report feeling most alone, are those you’d expect it from least: young people under 35 who are the most prolific social networkers of all” (WomensMedia). This is because the 35 and under age group is the generation with the most technology. The more technology, the more alone people feel. Social media makes it incredibly easy to stay in touch with people, while also keeping distance. Most people find this easier and start to rely on social media and lose their real-life friendships, while becoming more alone by the minute.
Social media can play a dangerous role in our lives by many ways like damaging friendships, bullying, losing respect from others, and can even affect your chances of getting a job and being accepted to college. As stated by Alan Finder from the assignment Social Networking Timed Write, “Many companies that recruit on college campuses have been using search engines like google and Yahoo to conduct background checks on seniors looking for their first job. But now, college career counselors and other experts say, some recruiters are looking applicants on social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and other media sites where college students often post risque’ or teasing photographs and provocative comments about drinking, recreational drug use and sexual exploits.” What Alan Finder is stating is that whatever you do on social media can have an a huge affect on being accepted to college. I must easily agree with Alan Finder since social media has been affecting many people’s lives in a bad way ever since everyone started using it.
The Denver Broncos are one of the most successful teams in the NFL, with eight Super Bowl Appearances and three championships, to go along with 15 AFC West Division championships since their first Super Bowl appearance in 1977 and a Wild Card playoff appearance another seven times, and sellouts game after game. The Broncos also are known for being one of the most successful sports franchises in their sports marketing through the way they use social media. Other sports teams and someone seeking to promote a sports brand can learn from them.

When it comes to sharing photos on social media, most of us agree that it is a way to share your life with friends, family, and even strangers. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the on the question of which social media platform is best for sharing photos. Whereas some are convinced that Facebook or Instagram is the best way for sharing pictures, others believe that the handle Flickr has its benefits. Many do not know about Flickr, but the photo sharing site has all of the advantages of Facebook and Instagram; users are able to use hashtags, write captions, and share photos with friends, family, and even strangers. Unlike Facebook and Instagram, users of Flickr have the advantages of storing photos and videos for personal and professional use. The social media site, Flickr, has been easing storing and sharing since the early 2000’s.
There is currently talk of the potentiality for the use of social media in the classroom. Snapchat is at the forefront of this debate and the question of its use in the classroom environment is turning heads amongst the laymen and educators alike. Snapchat is a phone app that allows users to take pictures and videos that last for ten seconds at a time and then is deleted forever. This app is extremely popular with teenagers and young adults, encouraging educators to pose the question of whether it can be used in a pedagogical context. There is debate as to whether or not any form of social media can be successfully incorporated into the classroom environment without it causing distractions and problems for the administration. As with any technology being newly integrated into the classroom, there are some outstanding pros and cons to Snapchat’s ability to aid the foreign language classroom.
