Even if the area does have heat their power bill will still go up because of the cold.Imagine it is super cold outside people cannot go to work. With no income, they still have to pay their power bill, which make it hard for struggling families. The cold also can make people sick.
Furthermore, large amounts of snow can make schools shut down.A lot of people think school shut down is a good thing because if the school is shut down ,then they do not have to do any work. There are consequences for the school shut down. The consequences of school shut down is to make up the missed days.Imagine when we finish the test and ready for summer but got told we have to make up the days because of the snow.
In conclusion, though snow can be fun, it is also very dangerous, cold, and school make up days are boring. Many places snow throughout the year.Is hard for those people to work and buy food. Also, they will be sick very easy and the power bill are
POW! At what seems like 100 miles per hour it hits you! The cold snow running down your back, chills form on your arm. Then, another one! Quickly you dodge it, then grab your own and send it flying back. Wow, you think, snowball fights are extreme. This snowball fight was the best I ever had. We were throwing snowballs across the street, hitting houses and laughing as we do so.
It is very difficult to drive in the winter due to poor visibility. On stormy days, the wind blows the snow in the air and on the windshield, making it hard to see clearly. Poor visibility makes driving frustrating and worrisome. Most of the accidents I have witnessed have taken place during winter. As a result of this, I have developed constant fear while driving in the winter. I worry a lot about some vehicle or my own losing control causing an accident. I have developed a phobia to drive during winter.
Winter in Canada is much different than winter in other countries. For one, it is much longer. Winter lasts about six to eight months, and it can be unbearably cold. The days are significantly shorter than summer, which makes it that much harder to wake up for the day at school or at work. Having to shovel the driveway isn’t Canadians favorite pastime at seven in the morning when they are going to be late for work. Also what needs to be taken into account is making sure the car is plugged in during the night. When that is forgotten in the cold days of winter, it is pretty hard to get anywhere because no car would start if it was sitting outside.
The places you will be riding can have a big impact on how the ride will go. A day snowboarding in the Midwest can be really hit or miss depending on location. In the Midwest, there is not very much snow that falls naturally. This forces resorts to make their own man-made snow. This snow tends to be a bit harder and more like small ice balls rather than really powdery snow. Being in the midwest there is also frequent climate changes. This can make the temperatures change rapidly and can make the snow melt and refreeze, or become very hard just overnight.
* Snow can be clean, inviting, playful, and even warm. It can also be start, suffocating, severe, suffocating, and even filthy.
“It was one of those bull’s-eyes in history, one of those points where everything comes together, where, if you were at that place at that time, you were part of something big. It meant that we weren’t going to get picked up, not on that day and maybe not ever” (Northrop 1). The mood created by Northrop in Trapped is displayed to the readers as negative vibe. Being trapped at a school in a blizzard is obviously not a good thing. So, as a visual representation to the teenagers situation, the snow is described negatively too. In the book Trapped, Michael Northrop uses the snow to symbolize dreadful times and loneliness.
When people are on winter break, most want to go out and play in the snow, but who knew that the snow could be one's worst nightmare when stubbornness comes into play. Most people go out on an enjoyable snow-white day to sled down snowy hills and fling semi-hard snowballs at each other. No one would think that maybe sledding down the snowy hills could be so dangerous when they are having fun, and trying to show off. I certainly did not think that it was dangerous, but boy was I so wrong. Normally being a Los Angeles girl, going up to Big Bear is such an amazing experience, because down in the Los Angeles region it does not snow at all. However, I was not ready to face what was slowly going to change me in the mountains of California.
Once the snow started many people became stranded where they were at. Many people were stuck at work, school, and even in their vehicles. The people stuck in vehicles were the major portion of the death toll. Roadways became unpassable and alternate means of travel had to be acquired. Many people used snowmobiles to travel during this time. Snowmobiles became a huge asset to help get food and rescue people during the storm.
Having school all year can be burdensome, and can have slight disadvantages in this area. The burden is placed on teachers, students, administrators, parents, and many more.
Not even a little bit. I mean, growing up in Texas, you just don’t ever expect to.
In the news report, they talked about how the snow storm brought lot of people together but it also caused a lot of damage to the town because of the wrecks and the trees falling on the houses. On the brightside though, it sure helped us get out of going to school for a week. When most people think of Kansas they think of the Wizard of Oz, the big gusts of wind and cows. A great number of people living in Colby and the surrounding areas are farmers who plant their crops according to season obviously but when the blizzard hit, almost everything was ruined because the plants couldn’t handle the cold. This epidemic caused them hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost crop money. Weather is unpredictable and it is always important to either plan ahead or have a plan B when nature
A normal day can turn into a day filled with icy cold snow and warm hot chocolate just by one call. One call that gives everyone around the school district a sigh of relief that they can curl up back in their comfy beds and sleep for an extra two or more hours. Some may wonder how one call makes everyone’s day so much better: it is because it is a call from the school saying there is no school today due to icy conditions. Upon hearing this one can be sure that their phone will be buzzing with ones friends asking what they are doing today, or maybe one snoozes through all the texts and continues to curl up in one’s warm blankets, with dogs heating ones feet. No matter what one chooses to do there always seems to be a trend as one gets older. This trend is that in the grades kindergarten through fifth grade, children love snow days to stay outside and play; then in grades sixth through ninth, children love snow days to stay inside and watch movies; finally children tenth through twelfth grade, children love snow days to again go outside and play.
In the article “Winter Worries and Health Hazards.” The author explains reasons why winter should be viewed as an unsafe season. Some reasons are that in the text it says “The two main dangers of cold temperatures, such as places with cold winters, are frostbite and hypothermia.” Those are reasons how the article explains how winter could be viewed as an unsafe season.
The East Coast was hit by a historic blizzard from January 22 to January 24, 2016. In anticipation of the storm, eleven states and D .C. declared a state of emergency (Samenow, 2016a). The blizzard produced one to three feet of snow across the region, causing 55 deaths, and between $500 million and $3 billion in economic losses (Samenow, 2016b). Schools, businesses, federal offices, and mass transit systems all closed for the storm. Fortunately, few people lost their homes and/or jobs, and no healthcare facilities were damaged. Businesses were impacted the most. Since worker weren't able make it to work because of slippery or snow covered roads , businesses had to close, losing a significant portion of their weekly revenue (Samenow, 2016a).
I know a fact that some of you are affected as well those who live near by the campus and those with a past dealing with snow when getting to work.
