What I Did During the Summer - Queenie Tu Note: I just read my journal entry about what I want to do during summer break and I just realized that I did everything in that list other than the only thing that was productive in there. *Sigh* Summers come and go and this one is no different. This summer was filled with me being completely unproductive, but I do have some fun memories that I created with my friends and family. To kick off summer break, I remembered going to the teen zone at the library with Emily. There was a summer beach party that day specifically for students who survived summer school. There, we took pictures at the photo booth and Emily also won a henna set from a raffle that we were participating. Later on that night, …show more content…
Then my dad drove us to the bakery and we played charades again and finished another episode of America’s Next Top Model before my parents dropped her off at her house, leaving me all alone once again. Several days before I went back to school, I was at home before someone started banging at my door. I opened it to find a woman telling me that my dog was out and about, just walking around my neighborhood. I quickly ran out my house to see my German Shepard/Husky strutting around, acting like he owns the place. It took me forever to finally calm him down and be able to drag him back to his room, but it did leave me with a ton of scratches and bite marks. My smaller dog who was with me also ran out into the street so I also had to find her after putting my bigger dog back. Overall, it was a horrible day with scratches to remind me of it. The last days of summer went by pretty fast and it was definitely sad because it meant that I would have to go back to school and I was not ready. However, I did spend those days wisely, making sure that I did something productive and I would say that I
Another summer has gone by and already it's the start of a brand new school year. Summer 2017 was quite relaxing. I didn't have any extraordinary plans for the summer since I wasn't leaving Vancouver, but I spent the summer in the city itself during the hot and humid climate. I usually didn't have any fixed routines throughout my summer, so I spent most of my days sleeping away and staying up all night until sunrise, binging through shows on Netflix with my best friend on FaceTime, spending quality time with my family, enjoying backyard barbecues and camping.
sat in my 8th hour room, staring at the clock, waiting for it to finally hit 3:05. After what felt like an eternity I heard the ring of the bell and a wave of students rushed out into the summer air. Summer was finally here and I couldn’t be happier. I had a whole three months to do whatever I wanted. No homework, no tests, no teachers. I hopped on my bus that would drive me home and deliver me to freedom.
As my last class came to an end on that Thursday I could feel the excitement growing in me; spring break was starting! As I walked briskly to my truck I could feel a huge smile growing across my face. In less than twenty four hours I’d be on the road to granny and gripes in Louisiana with my best friend and I couldn’t be more excited! I had never really been out of Missouri unless it was military related and even then we didn’t get to adventure like I had always wanted to do. I’ve always loved driving and seeing new things in Missouri but now I get to drive through different states and see all of the beautiful scenery in Arkansas and Louisiana.
I have come to the understanding that, as we progress in age, summer is no longer viewed in terms of vacation, but rather a chance for young adults to glimpse into the ‘real world’ of constant work and exhaustion. The cost of college education has made it difficult to enjoy the beauty of summer, and instead forces us to focus on the pressure of student loans. It is because of this that I have spent my past few summers indoors beneath the florescent lights of Younkers in the wonderful world of retail. However, as the past semester came to an end, I decided that this summer would be different.
I was in my room when my mom said “after you finish your lessons in school we can go shopping at Forever 21”. So I did all my school work then we took a ride to Bremerton. First we went to Bath and Body Works, we both got body spray and my mom got lotion. After that we went to H & M and I got a green bomber coat and a couple of shirts. We went to check out and my mom asked the lady if she knew where we could find Forever 21. She gave us the directions so we went off to find it.
The summer started off with a bang. From Holiday World, to volleyball, to relaxing poolside… it was the life. That all came to a halt when I had to get a…*gulp*…job.
In my eighteen years of my life, this summer has surely been the most memorable. It was filled with countless wonderful memories during these past three months. This summer was filled with loads of amusement, excitement, nerves, and sadness. Summer started one week early, however, other than that it was to an extent, the same as the other summers. I spent a vast deal of my time working, with my friends and family, and in the gym.
My summer was different than my typical normal summers. I spent my time going from Yankton, South Dakota to Winner, South Dakota. My parents had a busy schedule this summer so they decided to send me with some family. Although my aunt wanted me to be there, she always sent me home after a week or two. It wasn’t enough time to really do anything.
I had Golden Puffs, Angel had Captain Crunch. After breakfast we went outside to play with the kittens. They have four cats, two grownups, and two kittens. Smokey, Tiger, Princess, and the Kinga. We think that princess is pregnant because her stomach is rounded and is hard, and she won’t let anyone near her belly she’s really protective over it. But she still let us pet her. We played outside for a little bit with Faith and Brennan before we went inside. At around 5 they took me home, we talked about a lot of serious things before I got out of the car. It was nice to be able to talk about things that we never really get to, or that we never really talk about. It brought us a lot closer and it was good to know that I could to them about anything. After we were done talking I went inside and told my mom all about what I did and how much fun I had. I feel like I made some really good memories with them. I would definitely do it again, it was a really good experience for me. It was something that I’ve never done
With summer almost over, I can't help but look back on the past few months. Mid-May I was completely blindfolded, I dived into the summer months without any goals or any idea of what it would bring.
When we first woke up we ordered some pancakes for breakfast. Than we got ready for the beach. It was so beautiful there we were all playing in the water. We would try to ride the waves with a knee board and it was so much fun. My mom said we can only stay for a little bit because she had a surprise for me.
Similarly to other teens, I look forward to the start of summer, but for different reasons. I enjoy the relaxed, lazy summer days, but what I really look forward to is volunteering at a Korean Heritage Camp. Korean Heritage Camp is a three-day retreat, where transracial families send their adopted Korean children to learn more about their Korean heritage. There are various different workshops, where the
What did i do this summer break? At the beginning of the summer i had to do summer school so from the 6th to the 30th i had to go to summer school for math from 10:15 to 12:15 then after summer school everyday i would go to Emmalee Nixon's house. We would go swimming, ride the golf cart around, go to the field of dreams and hangout with other people.
My favorite memory from the summer would have to had been when we had gone to the boardwalk for the day, it was a nice summer day so it was absolutely perfect. We spent the day eating many different flavors of ice cream and relaxing in the sun. Later in the afternoon we had bought matching sun hats, at a little shop. When we were walking away from the shop a seagull had flown by and stole Gabriella’s sun hat right off her head, her reaction was hilarious.
This summer changed the way I perceived the world in two profound manners, Firstly, I embarked on a new journey that included a full-time job, thesis research, and constant battles with my friends and hair. Secondly, I reentered the dating, which altered my perspective of relationships and love.
