We may have different religions, different languages, and different skin, but we are all humans. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “ In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Due to discrimination amongst certain groups of people, 1,572 people commit suicide every single year because of racism. For example, a way for my family and I could and should strengthen the nation is by putting posters all over schools and the city. We could tell people if they see people getting abuse in any form of racism, then tell somebody that will do something about it. Also, have a peaceful protest. Not a violent riot. Make sure everybody shares what they need to. And that is how my family and I could and should strengthen the nation.

Respect looks like to me is that people should be nice to other, helping others, and being king to others. One person that we should respect is our parents because they respect us by taking care of us when we are sick ect…. And I should respect them by doing the same thing to them. By dictionary definition, respect means ‘A feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements’, but it’s not always achieved through positive methods. There are the positive ways of gaining respect, and there’s also negative ways of gaining the respect of someone or a group of people. Being a reliable person is one way of earning the respect of others. Another way is by doing something as simple as treating others with respect. On the other hand, doing something that many people wouldn’t agree with will make you lose respect. Respect is said to be held by a thin line. Say someone breaks a promise or talks behind another person's back, just like that all respect for a person can be gone. That is what so many people do not understand about respect.

Respect does not give the impression of being an important factor in our country and therefore does not affect how well our society operates. For example, when I was in middle school, there were awful girls who believed that bullying me was an acceptable form of entertainment. They pushed me down flights of stairs, tripped me on buses, stole from me, and cursed my name even though I was innocent of doing anything to them. Most of these girls were, and still are, popular in my school because of how horribly they treated their disliked and unpopular peers. Lovecraft said, “I am not very proud of being a human being; in fact, I distinctly dislike the species in many ways.” I side with Mr. Lovecraft because I am not very proud of being a human being if it casts me into a category of people that have no concept of respect or compassion. Therefore, in my opinion, our society will deign to remain the same as long as destruction, contempt, and a lack of respect rule unchecked throughout it.

With respect we grow to be more susceptible to others ideas and accomplish strong relationships. Honesty, love, and peace are also deferential values but none of these values could work without the foundation of respect. Honesty couldn’t be tolerated without respecting ones opinion. Someone can love someone but lose respect for them. For example, spouses will still love one another but no longer respect one’s viewpoints. Peace can’t be accomplished without respecting other various and diverse ideas. Therefore, if respect is a value everyone sincerely shares then humanity would be accept others opinions and ideas, which means the world would be a more pleasant
